Saw him with Purple around this time and 5 years later with Paice Ashton Lord … at the latter gig in Glasgow, the crowd got to their feet screaming, after his amazing solo and wouldn’t sit down … Jon Lord had to ask everyone to stop clapping so they could get on with the show. 😀
It still is the best drums solo in rock history, by the best rock drummer ever. Ian Paice, the Buddy Rich of rock. A fantastic musician and a great man in the life.
Not only one of the best drummers in rock history, but he's still doing this at the top of his game from 1968 to today. 42 years at the top. Awesome. Who else can compete with that? Correct. No-one.
Saw MK VIII in 2014, Ian Paice at 68, with just one lung, after half an hour of pure rock'n'roll, still rocking at The Mule's solo. Long live Ian Paice. Long live DP. Long live rock and roll.
The more I listen this solo, the more amazing it sounds. If I could have any kit, it would probably be this one. I just love it...its perfect for both jazz and rock.
I am speechless now! Astonishing!!! Hats off !!! Why do we have people say NEGATIVELY of his skills & abilities!!!? Have they ever seen this solo!? I wonder! Also, can't help wondering why those best drummer & best drum solo videos on you tube never use this clip !!!? AMAZING MIND BLOWING SOLO ! Like Buddy Rich used to ! The closest to Buddy's I've ever seen!!!👍🏻👍🏼👏💜👏🏾👏🏽👏🏻👏😍🤩😲
Don't argue with this guy, he really knows his stuff. Greatest drummer "alive". He's been spotted with Elvis, by numerous credible wittnesses. Why are Bon/Zep fans so ignorant?
As for the Fireball LP, don't forget No No No, and No One Came. Ian Gillan said it was an album "designed to bring out the funk in the band", and that it did.
.......lol.....yea.....while (trying) to play Bonham triplets. Sometimes just cause folks play really fast....its just that.Bonham could play a very well put together solo. We can agree to disagree, but as a touring drummer, I tell you honestly this man is mostly trying to play Bonham stuf, and thats not an opinion. He is very talented though!
@@chrisscarfo8832 As a drummer myself and thinking about Paice and Bonham for 50 years, I simply can't choose who is better - one could say Paice is a faster/technical drummer (I still have trouble with Space Truckin) but Bonham has an iconic sound that is possibly harder to emulate and his groove is amazing (When the Levee Breaks) - I'd call it a draw coz I'm chicken lol PS: You say Paice copies Bonham but I'd say moreso inspired by Buddy Rich (the Hi Hat licks and fast singles, etc)
kid you are on the right track...this is what live music is was all about and concerts were not that expensive back then...if you are a drummer ian paice is one of the best-and their are many great rock drummers out there-but this stuff is still sweet 30 years later...KEEP ROCKING YOUNG MAN..
My dad is a massive Deep Purple fan. I remember him playing them when I was a little girl. Now I'm older not only are they a nostalgia trip for me, I also get to appreciate how fucking amazing they are. He took me to see them them a few years ago and it was hands down the best experience of my life.
The Mule (LIVE 1972 COPENHAGEN) Deep Purple 1972 (Mark II): Jon Lord - Organ Roger Glover - Bass Ian Gillan - Vocals Ian Paice - Drums Ritchie Blackmore - Guitar
@ironman5454 Spot on! Been watching that DVD and solo, Bonzo's cross-overs are amazing there! Both Ian and Bonzo are great drummers, but Moby Dick per John Bonham IS the epitomy of a rock drum solo. We're gonna GROOVE - is the key word!
.And you're absolutely right about the state of music today, although there still are some great new bands out there..you just have to look for them..Here's a hint--- They're not in what the current corporate music industry considers to be the top 40..
In that song , Ian Paice execute around 83 non stop tremolos , absolutely Unik in The history of hard rock drums !
Those jazzy swingin groove... Wow
IAN PAICE IS ONE OF THE BEST ROCK DRUMMERSi IN THE WORLD!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, IAN!!

HERE IS REALLY MASTERFULLY PLAYING THE DRUMS!!!
Great drummer, since min. 5' 40" he gives the best performance of galaxy 😍
It still is the best drums solo in rock history, by the best rock drummer ever. Ian Paice, the Buddy Rich of rock. A fantastic musician and a great man in the life.
Jea the best drummer of rock and great solo best for all time
Rip mister drums
Ian Paice is a masterpiece of drummers.
Yo lopuse😮
Ian Paice, John Bonham, Keith Moon, Buddy Rich, Ginger Baker, and Carl Palmer... My favorites!
Mitch Mitchell?
I love Roger Glover best bassist ever
He has one of the greatest bass guitar tones in all of Rock. Clean and articulate, yet massive and powerful.
I met Gillan when he and Glover and Paice came to my town and signed my Made In Japan double record set!!
Pace is, still to this day, Unbelievably underrated
Thank God you can still find hidden gems like this in TH-cam mixed in all the Adele's, Lady Gaga's, Beyonce's & Justin Bibier's rubbish...
Ian Paice...Jon Bohnam...apples and oranges, both awesome
Not only one of the best drummers in rock history, but he's still doing this at the top of his game from 1968 to today. 42 years at the top. Awesome. Who else can compete with that? Correct. No-one.
Carl Palmer from ELP. Since 1970, and still just as proficient and stunning.
Lord of the drums.
Espectacular
Saw MK VIII in 2014, Ian Paice at 68, with just one lung, after half an hour of pure rock'n'roll, still rocking at The Mule's solo. Long live Ian Paice. Long live DP. Long live rock and roll.
Probably the only drum solo I can actually really enjoy listening to, every time.
1972 or today.
❤
The more I listen this solo, the more amazing it sounds. If I could have any kit, it would probably be this one. I just love it...its perfect for both jazz and rock.
Tu es juste grandiiose!!!
Paice drumming n Pace bowling, blasting any opposition out of the park or center stage 😎🌺🌴🇵🇬🇫🇯🌴
Who were the 4 fools who disliked this??? Ian is one of the greats of drumming! Real nice solo here!!! One of my faves.....
Nice to see Blackmore cheering Paice in the end.
Blackmore is like Miles Davis. Great talent scout in music
Nessun commento cosa si può dire.... MAGIA
😢😊🎉
Best drummer ever, seriously, think about it!
Without a doubt
Maybe, definitely top 10, but for sure the most underrated ever.
Toujours aussi envoûtant
They're in the leauge with ELP, Yes, and Tull. Top notch musicianship. They only make it LOOK easy.
Very underrated drummer!

From a time when music stars had actual music skills 😢
@ Google no lopuse yoelbideo de disparpe😮
one of the masters.
Not enough mention of how great Ian's cymbals sound and the way he plays them. Right up there with the Jazz drumming masters.
out of this world
Ian Paice still performed well, when I saw him last time, that is less than 3-4 yrs ago
Grazie Ian ❤️💐👏💪
Increible .... Ian paice
After all these years, still fresh and great
AMAZING DRUM IAN PAICE SOLO !!!!
the best drum solo ever made
Don't argue with this guy, he really knows his stuff. Greatest drummer "alive". He's been spotted with Elvis, by numerous credible wittnesses. Why are Bon/Zep fans so ignorant?

IAN PAICE,YEEESSSS
The best Song in the World 😎
Ian Paice best drummer too
That's awesome!!! Incredible, wow!!!
i Envy you...... really I do :). You were part of Music History to see the Gods.
As for the Fireball LP, don't forget No No No, and No One Came. Ian Gillan said it was an album "designed to bring out the funk in the band", and that it did.
Paice was easily the best of all the early '70s "heavy" rock drummers - dude would have smoked Bonham and Ward with one hand.

Really why even mention Ward? Not even in their class..but you are right

Perfeito!!!!

Fabulous!!!
"The Buddy Rich chops are strong with this one..."

Hey, John Bonham, that's truly amazing!!!
