Started on Episode 1 today and it's very spicy! Young George being sent to France for his 'education'. This drama is sure to win Nick Galitzine some awards!
Ive been following T0ny for years.. I think the first thing I really remember him from is that legendary Doctor Who episode about VanGogh. I also caught him in the not-well-known SciFi Series "DEFIANCE", wherein he played a somewhat villainous pale as snow Humanoid Alien, head of a family and petty crime lord. Such a shame that show was SO HARD to find a platform to watch it on. I'm of MacGregor heritage, and as Jame VI/I (Tony's guy) was the one who outlawed the MacGregor clan, I am quite curious to see more about him, and I just love when Tony gets to show off his Ginger Glory with no alteration! FUN FACT: It is indeed THIS man that the "King James Bible" is named for, mostly because the translators were sucking up to him for money to do it - and distinctly choosing options in translation to phrase things to impress him. THE SUPREME IRONY: many of the same people who run around screaming that only this Elizabethan English translation is "True", or holy or whatever, are the same people locked into a permanent state of hatred and violence towards members of the LGBTQ+ community.. I hope they ALL get to learn about who James really was so it will make their heads explode.
Thank you for this series, Sky and Hera. TV of such uncompromising high quality is as rare as it is beautiful (and appreciated) A top cast down to the smallest roles, with so much young emerging talent as well as the three leads and what I hope is a proper breakout role for Nicholas Galitzine who carried some a weighty role with style and aplomb. I hope this gets at least a few of the awards it deserves, for both acting and technical. Utterly sublime. Perhaps this could also lead to modern takes on some of those amazing Jacobean revenge tragedies which seem so relevant today.
I completely agree, so many TV execs would say there's no market for it, they took a lot of risks because you not only have the central queer relationship George and James, but Mary and Clina. It was a real commercial risk, and I think the product is amazing. And I think it really is getting attention, the Starz trailer has like 6 million views, that's really good for a trailer for a series that hasn't released in the US yet or done the US rounds of interviews
@@edwalker2169 Thank you for saying that. It has been huge in the UK, and hopefully will be in the US. Production values are sky high, and with Moore, Galitzine and Curran acting out of their skins, a pure and rare delight - as is every aspect of production.
That was not the done thing in that era. Women had no power, or even any say in their own lives, and at that echelon of society no say in who they married either. This is very much the crux of the series, how Mary uniquely grabs power and position, nainly through manipulating her beautiful son.

Nicholas Galitizine is winning with his costars, the masterclass he is probably
getting with someone like Julianne Moore and Tony Curran

Such an outstanding production! ❤
The need to lie about historical figures. Further spreading stereotypes gay men as having mother issues.
