I have participated in building numerous Bailey bridges and I like the new options of modular motorised bridges

Some of the tracked vehicles that were moving the bridge sections were modified M60 series tanks and others were the Abrams M1 series tanks. The turrets were removed and then the modifications wer performed.

The German M3 is superior in Speed and Versatility. And on the Modern Battlefield, Speed is Life. Only for Main Battle Tanks does the Ribbon Bridging Equipment come into its right. And it wouldn't hurt with some innovation in that respect. It's slow and vulnerable. With the advancements in Carbon Fiber and Graphene in the latter years, one should think that these extremely important functions of Land Based Armed Forces could be improved drastically to enhance the size, the speed of movement and deployment.
