Challenge: Get an early prism and use the fact that you can build on the prism power field aggressively. For example prism cannon rush in the main, probably together with immortals. Or get fast batteries for an attack, like terrans do with bunkers. You can also proxy an unpowered dt shrine or put cannons between two expansions to cut them off temporarily.

Now....talking about executing, I've got another one, what about getting a unit to the 'Executor' (>20 kills) rank, also, the unit must live to see you win...if that is too easy, then add the restriction that the unit cannot be a splash dealing one (Colossus, archon, templar, disruptor).

This also goes for phoenix and voidrays (gbeam and prismatic alignment), I'd rather phoenix than void rays because of the micro potential.
The main idea is to have your army be composed of the classic caster units though. ie sentries, tempests, disruptors. Maybe hallucinations could add some bulk to the army to soak damage?

My challenge, Protoss Widowmines: The only, only type of harass you can do is Disruptor drops. The rest of the build is up to you, but include large quantities of disruptor drops. This also means if you scout with adepts or something, you can’t attack. You are only allowed to move across the map after you hit max supply and your army must have a very large amount of disruptors.

  • @nopeno9130
    @nopeno9130 3 ปีที่แล้ว

This is a great challenge, wish you'd do it more. Seems like a lot of people might even give up if you, say, have like 6 void rays and hallucinate them. Make the real ones all go in first, kill a couple things, then move back out of vision when they're going to run out as if it's a hit and run harass, except the fake ones arrive late so they don't get time to see they're not actually doing damage. You're bound to find someone who thinks you just have that many void rays in your pocket and GGs.
How does hallucinating Dark Templar work? Do they not stealth?
Or you could try hallucinating a bunch of a big unit like warp prisms and just fly it over your/the opponent's army in a fight to disrupt his micro by making it so he can't see what's going on/can't click through the hallucinations.
Just seems like there's a lot of untapped potential for hilarity with this.

    Hey Harstem,
this video showcased how strong seemingly constant aggression can be (or how it could feel like for the opponents).
With that in mind, what about "CONSTANT AGGRESSION"?
You may not have any units for sitting in your bases. You may use defensive structures though.
Every unit producing structure has to produce units at all times (even zealots before core)
You have to attack your enemy at least once before expanding to a new base.

I would not mind seeing you try to win with mass Void Rays and Storm (High Templar).
    --
STRAIGHT INTO VOID RAYS (I'd say start 2 Oracles, then switch to Void Ray production.)
Cybercore (+1 air) > Stargate > Twilight > Templar Archives (Storm) > Fleet Beacon (+2/+3 air).
I think keeping the first Oracle at home until the second Oracle is done, then going across with both of them together to harass the same base at a team, is the right move. This can delay your opponent seeing that you have Oracles or even a Stargate, plus the damage potential is much higher for the harassment run. Against Zerg it is also good to have that first Oracle still at home in case you get cheesed.
    ---
BLINK STALKER INTO VOID RAY TECH SWITCH (This can start with a cannon rush or Gateway harass.)
Forge (+1 ground) > Twilight (Blink) > Templar Archives (Storm) > Stargate (& +1 air) > Fleet Beacon (+2/+3 air)
    ---
You will want to fit in a Robo when you can, to get a Warp Prism and a few Observers. Note that since you aren't making or moving out with High Templar until Storm is done, everything you are building can get past a full wall-off -- you can get a Robo and a Warp Prism to ferry your HT around in plenty of time. Just fully wall off your natural (instead of leaving a gap) and use the walling Probe to go take a hidden third base in the corner, giving you more defense at home than Protoss normally gets. It's an option.
The strategy here is that almost all of the counters to mass Void Rays (Marines, Cyclones, Vikings, Phoenix, Hydralisks, Mutalisks) are vulnerable to Storm wiping out their numbers. Bait mass production of the counter, then wipe it out with Storms and run rampant with the Void Rays. You do still have to deal with something like mass upgraded Widow Mines, mass BCs w/ Yamato, mass Archons walking in, and Fungal Growth spam from well micro'd Infestors. Feedback from the HT can fight the Infestors. A few Disruptors deal with everything but BCs... which I'm not really sure how to fight if their numbers climb too high, except to mix in a few Blink Stalkers with your Void Rays so that your more costly air units aren't being targeted.

Build Prism powerd shield batteries and cannons during every engagement of your main army on the map to back them up.
The idea is to play like a Terran who constantly has heal and repair for his army available. I want to see if this works for Protoss too.
Add pylons to the installation and you suddenly have some outpost on the map.

PvT: disruptor drop into either blink ruptor or blink colo. I do this build myself so I’d love to see what you think the best follow up is.
PvZ: either a drop again or more of an alphastar style with stalkers and ruptors. Then trying to kill them with heavy aggression once you get a healthy disruptor count.
PvP: blink opener into a disruptor mid game that’s looking to end the game with blink ruptor multiprong attacks.

Watching this, I'd say that while this would never work at tournaments the way it was played here, hallucinations do have more potential than is used. If you are doing either of an early warp prism or oracle, a hallucination of the other going in just prior to a different location, such as the main instead of the natural or whatever, could work to confuse an opponent right as workers are dying. Also charge-lot buffers during the main fights were helping. Even if they have detection, they are still only doing damage when target firing. The buffer of fake zealots soaks any A-move damage.

I have my own challenge called fast response Terran: you can only build hellions and reapers for your ground army and your main/air army can be Vikings, banshees, liberators and medivacs. Every base with the exception of your natural have to be one base position apart from each other and you have to control a majority of the map before you go for the finishing blow on your opponent. The exception to the rule is Marines; if you want to build them they have to stay in the base that they're built in as a purely defensive unit to emphasize walling off your forward based with bunkers and depots and such or you can use medivacs to transport them between bases but no offensive marine drops.

hey Harstem, i have a new strategy for your series "beating grandmasters with stupid stuff". (this strategy is best played with terran)
main concept, you're trying to let your opponent think you are playing defensively but actually you are building an army on the other side of the map.
when the enemy attacks your old main base you are going to attack the enemy. building a second base at your second base location is also a good
way to let your enemy think you are playing defensively
    vP
first of all it is good to wall of with barracks and supply depots, it is best to also build missile turrets to "defend" against observers, you should also scout around for
scouting probes so first wall of and then fly your command center to the corner of the map. on the other side of the map you build planetary's and missile turrets to hold of the enemy for a while
    while you attack his base
    vT
you want to build a bunker at the location where the reaper jumps up, the bunker will also hold the enemy of for a little bit longer build missile turrets to hold of drops (a lot of missile turrets)
when the enemy attacks your old main base you attack his main base i recommend going for tech structures, production structures and workers so that you can make reinforcements and he can't
he will rebuild his structures and call back his army wich will probably exist out of siege tanks his army will be very slow and when he is back only his army will remain (hopefully)
    vZ
this is a tricky one because there are going to be a lot of overlords and overseers so you want to build a second base and hold of the enemy's overlords with missile turrets and marine's
but when he attacks it is pretty easy to just attack his tech structures and stop him of getting reinforcements, but everything can end when just one overlord enters your base. to counter that you
get scouted you want to go for vikings in the main base wich is another indication that you are playing a normal build.
i wish you good luck and a lot of fun with it

Idea for beating grand master with stupid stuff: "The bronze league player". Don't use any hot keys - always your mouse to click on units. An APM around 60-80 would be appropriate. Good luck :)

Loved the vid, suggestion for next week: build what you like but at the time you win all your buildings must be on your oponents side of the map.

Idea. You can only attack after 6 min and attacking can only be done using cannons. However, you can defend cannons

Hey Harstem, what do you think about the upcoming balance update?

  • @starcraftplayer9897
    @starcraftplayer9897 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Hello Harstem what about beating GMs with BMs? The idea is just be as cocky a player as possible. You tell your opponent what your going to do 3-5 second in advance like if you are proxying gates you just go 'proxy gates', then later in the game if say you are dropping immortals in their main you go 'immortals in your main'. So say your strategy out loud as game progress, then beat them anyways.

Try to win with primarily gateway units, but you can only warp in under a prism. Until you get a prism you can use gateway like normal, but you have to rush one out

Zero can't attack into hallucinated 7nits so mutate are needed to pull you out of position and not allow infinite hallucinations

Your warp gate count can never exceed your nexus counts, and can only make a Stargate or robo after you have 3 nexus

Just starting the video, but I've always wondered why pros don't do this more often. Since at the highest level if they so much as glimpse your tech structures or gas harvested, they can guess what you'll do.
I feel like it could be amazing to build like, one "wrong" tech structure, and/or hallucinate part of an army to make them respond the wrong way.

    • @generic8891
      @generic8891 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Alternatively, turn up on their front doorstep with half a dozen additional hallucinated archons/immortals to see if you can bluff them into giving up a base to a weaker army.

I believe that if someone had perfect APM (anything they could imagine they had the micro skill to do) then hallucinating armies/harassment would be super meta
