It was a back-and-forth until Andrew Benintendi called game in the bottom of the 9th inning with a walk-off home run to right field. His 17th of the season.
Nicky Lopez went 3-for-5 with 3 RBI. Andrew Benintendi went 3-for-5 with 2 RBI. Gavin Sheets went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI.
Pitcher Chris Flexen got the start, going 5.0 innings with 8 strikeouts and no runs allowed. Gus Varland got with win.
The Chicago White Sox defeated the Oakland Athletic's, 7-6, at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, IL.

It was a good win, but does nothing to erase the embarrassment of this season. For the year, so many players underperformed that I would have to suggest an entirely new coaching staff for 2025. The old staff just couldn't do their jobs.

I always say we should celebrate the small victories in life. But as a professional athlete I would be embarrassed to celebrate a win when the team is historically bad like this. Love the white Sox for my whole life. But even the teams in the 70s in shorts were not as bad. 🤦🏻‍♂️
