Im really impressed with the Proton Pack! For it to be completely independently made out of foam and misc bits, it looks really good! To add a bit more realism to it, ive seen those that DIYed their packs use PVC piping as an ALICE frame, like the ones the screen-used packs are attached to, and then put the backpack straps on those.
You know.. when I saw you start by spray painting a painter's suit and then junk together a pack I thought this was a joke. But honestly.. when you were done... for less than $100 that actually turned out pretty good.
My favorite part about this is that I was literally just about to comment on your latest video asking you to make a proton pack. Also I love your videos. Watching them since I was little.
Love to see this series return, and I remember following the Homemade Movies BTS of the Ghostbusters scene when I made my Ghostbusters costume from scratch back in the day!
As someone who does Ghostbuster cosplay in an official group... I think this rocks! Yeah it's not perfect, but working with the limited supplies you had, you made something that looks pretty darn good and would still fit in decently in any Ghostbusters group photo shoot.
Ever since i watched Dustin's og ghostbusters outfit vids and the first Cinefx homemade movies/costume squad vids i feel in love with Cinefx and Dustin's channel channel entirely. As a child these videos inspired me greatly to make all sorts of wacky things. The first thing i ever homemade was a proton pack out of duct tape, cardboard, and you guessed it...hot glue! it was marvelously janky, but after growing up watching dustin and the homemade movies crew, it inspired me to make more and more, until just recently i made another proton pack and ghostbusters getup that i am really proud of, theyre my best videos and projects to date and seeing this video made me feel like Dustin's journey, and also my journey watching Dustin and his friends make such cool stuff with such reachable and tangible methods, has finally come full circle. Dustin McLean, thank you so much for inspiring so many DIY'ers and homemamde film-makers with your creativity and charm. You will go down in history as one of the true youtube ogs, and a legend of props and costume-making!
it's been a while since I last saw a DIY Costume Squad video and this makes me so happy, I'm sure you've done more just TH-cam didn't want me to see them idk
I remember watching you make the Ghost trap years ago as a kid! The same thing with the scenes recreation you did as well! The trash bag slimmer was really unique, and tbis video brings me back! Great job!!
I’m so glad you uploaded this here. I remember looking up DIY costume squad and google then realizing the exclusive Facebook episodes. Glad I can see it here now.
I’m sad this episode wasn’t released, it’s cool to see it come out now, I’ve made a ton of proton packs through out my life and this is much better than what I could have done.👍👻🚫
I dont know if here's the place to say it, but i just wanna say thanks and that I'm glad i found your channel. I know you've heard this SOOOOOO many times but i grew up with homemade movie's, i would always love watching the behind the scenes, maybe even more then the recreations lol. I also love the other ones like d.i.y costume squad and all that. I'm huge into making homemade props and movies amd you were a core inspiration to me, no matter what materials i have, i can still make something just as cool. And then i found this personal account and fell in love, THERE'S SO MUCH GOLD (the back to the future script with different impressions is a favorite of mine lmao) I love everything you make, so make whatever you want. i know it kinda sucks that the only thing anyone ever talks about is homemade movies even tho is looong gone, and you seem sick of it 😂 Anyway, sorry for the long comment, but i just had to say what you meant to me as a person, have a good day Dustin!
Ah, good question. Funnily enough, I checked in my garage and I still have the exact can I used in this video 🤣 It's Rust-oleum "Fossil" in satin finish. I don't see it available on Amazon at the moment but hopefully a hardware store will have it. Otherwise this one is pretty close and I've used it on a few other things: amzn.to/3NqFzuc
Hey I have a question, could you try to make the helmet that Gary Goodspeed wears from Final Space? I wanna see on how to make it with cardboard, craft foam and etc, It would be amazing, I've been watching your videos since homemade movie trailers.
Yes, I’ve been wanting him to do this since that trap too and I thought the only thing you’re ever going to see was the version he did for homemade movies where they did the scene where they trapped slimmer at the Sedgwick Hotel
@@DustFilmsOriginals that’s cool. I never saw this on Facebook. The only thing that I wanna know is did the suit hold up after you painted it and everything or did it fall apart just like the ones in your homemade movies where you do the Ghostbusters trap slimmer at the Sedgwick hotel?
@hilarydufffan56 This one is VERY flimsy. Luckily I have the real suit with real patches already, they just cost a lot more. I was really only interested in making the proton pack here!
@@DustFilmsOriginals One last question what are the dimensions of the pack cuz my motherboard base is turning out more rectangular than i want it to be
@@goonie79 I know you weren't asking me, but if you do desire to tackle this yourself, there's a ton of reference materials on Ghostbusters forums (GBFans is a really big one) and someone there may have the patterns for the foam you seek. Otherwise, if you want to do it like the video, there's a website called the Ghostbusters Reference Library (I think that's what it's called if memory serves) that has stills of all the Packs from GB1 to Afterlife, and I think they've added Frozen Empire as well. Tons of pictures to pull from for inspiration!
You really captured the essence of Ghostbusters, so many small details all around. Funnily enough this video popped up on my recommended page while i’m finishing up the electronics on my proton pack! It makes me wonder if you’ve got any more videos in the archives? 😉🤔
I say it in the video, that I spend around $80 but keep in mind that's for FULL cans of spray paint which I only used like 10% of and will use on other projects.
I love to see you back making costumes i have been watching u since 2012, ur my inspiration to become a film maker one day! Ps i would love to see u make the new wolverine suit from deadpool and wolverine

Glad you like it! This was actually just a reupload from 2017 but please check out the many other props and costumes I’ve made on this channel over the past few years. I’ve never stopped! 🙏🏻😀
It was released but exclusive to Facebook Watch only! 5 episodes were part of a deal with Facebook and I host them all but with different builders doing the builds. This is the only one where I do an actual full episode build so I've been bummed that it didn't exist on TH-cam.
I always loved watching you create costumes and props. So cool to see this throwback here after all those years!
I grew up watching your DIY Costume Squad series in my middle/high school days even to this day, I’m inspired by this series to make my own costumes

Nice job, especially on the proton pack! I also bet the pack doesn't weigh a lot strapped onto your back, as I bet a real proton pack would, LOL!
Yeah it's light! And the first version that I made out of wood and metal back in 2008 was incredibly heavy.
