    She looks like an example of a deep winter who needs soft colors - or rather, a soft summer who has high contrast and needs dark colors. I've seen this a lot. I think this is one of the most common ways that the 12 season system fails.

      I think you gotta good point! I think for me too - either spring with more neutral, medium range colors, or summer with more lively medium range colors. Many people don't fit into one of the 12.

    I feel like they steer all women over 40 to soft summer with this updated color analysis bc the softer colors are easier to wear for most people. Especially with no makeup on. Bottom line is wear the colors you love and feel good wearing!

      It depends. Some types can age with bright eyes and some brightness in the skin. But the majority of people when aging start to have less bright skin (more pigmentation: from the sun) and lighter hair. Hence a more light season. Also, some people also loose some brightness in their eyes.

      Can I add too? that we all kind of edge to the shades & colour we like & don’t forget those compliments,I love colour that warms me up as I’m neutral,I look healthier.When I died my hair chestnut brown,the compliments I got because I looked healthier & could wear more makeup ,now I go for warm blond chunky streaks & I’m happy at that,at 53 ,nothing is perfect anymore but I haven’t given up lol 🇬🇧🇺🇸

    Sorry, but shocked to see such a terrible colour consultation, very little explanation, not done in a scientific or accurate order at all! Any good consultant will check for warm or cool first, that takes quite a long time, then go on to light or dark, then narrow it down further and further, with no seasons mentioned until the end (so as not to prejudice results). Please look at Colour Analysis Studio on TH-cam for a real consultation. What is presented here is a quick, sketchy, inaccurate form of the real thing!

      Any color can be defined by temperature, depth and saturation level. There’s no primary or secondary aspect,they are all even. So you can start with ether. Just because someone else does it a certain way, doesn’t mean it’s the only correct way. In addition, starting with temperature may not be a good idea for neutrals or olives cause they have both. In this example lady is olive leaning warm ( not neutral as the consultant concluded, but mistake which is often made cause both olive and neutral have yellow and blue and the difference is in the amount of red in the skin ) not cool or warm. The 12 seasons system is flawed and incomplete in general and this was a great example of it. However, I do have to agree, there was very little to non explanation about how colors work and interact with one another to provide better understanding for a client why certain colors are better than others for them. This felt more intuitive rather than relying on actual color theory.

    • @trishagoodwin4069
      @trishagoodwin4069 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I wouldn't say this is a good example of the 12 seasons methods at all, although agree many, if not most, people are neutral. The tendancy though, is to still lean one way or the other, either warm/neutral or cool/neutral. @@YulianaChiPhotography

      I have very similar colouring to her, with a touch less contrast, and I thought that I was soft summer for about 6 months until I started wearing more brown and burgundy again. I then realized that I was a deep winter who can borrow from the “shaded summer” palette which is basically the soft summer palette but darker. The palette is also called “tinted summer” and “toasted summer”. I think this is probably true of Tamsen. She is a bit more high contrast than me… we have similar colouring but I have a bit more pink in my skin.

    • @emrk6517
      @emrk6517 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think her CONTRAST (black/white pattern versus grey/white) is the key. As you get older your contrast softens, and that may change where your sit on the color analysis wheel. Like she said herself, she has grays in her hair, she used to wear a dark red, but it doesn't work the same anymore. The contrast in you skin and lips etc. becomes softer also. I've seen other color analysts talking about this and I'm suspecting it might be happening to me also. I was deemed a winter when I was in my twenties and now that I'm 46 I react a little differently to some of those colors.

      Covering the hair is the only way to get a true analysis, as this can change so much - with dyeing, with fading in sun, with age and so on. But to be honest, I don't rate this consultation much at all, not very professional in my view.

  • @kt1711
    @kt1711 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Soft Summer is too grey for her, it drains her skin. Olive skin needs a bit of intensity (not overly intense though), otherwise it becomes grey itself. The Cool Winter is a bit too intense for her, but closer in my opinion. I think shes a perfect example of a Soft Winter in the 16 seasons (or maybe even a Deep Soft Summer, depending on how soft one likes the colors to be, guess thats up to personal preference). The 12 seasons system is asymmetrical in that regard, there are only soft-cool-light (soft summer) and soft-warm-deep (soft autumn), but no soft-cool-deep and soft-warm-light seasons. There is no logical reason why this asymmetry exists. She is clearly at (slightly deeper)+(slightly cooler)+(slightly soft). None of these 3 characteristic is standing out too much, that may also be a reason why the 12-system with the strict separations and focuses on one characteristic fails.

    I'm a True Winter (draped by a pro). I agree that you are a Soft Summer. But you have a vivid personality, and I think she was too quick to agree with you a couple of times. I think she was leaning toward having you cover your hair (which she should have due to some coloring history), but was hesitant to ask. She didn't spend enough time explaining softness. Even so, I think Soft Summer, but able to borrow darker soft hues is perfect on you. Like Katie Holmes. :)

    You should look at dark/deep summer and soft winter, which are kind of a mix of dark winter and soft summer from my understanding.
    It might be that you just look better in dark winter colors that are slightly more softer or something of that nature. Don't forget that everything in color analysis is on a spectrum - deep or light, warm or cool, muted or saturated. The 4 seasons or 12 subtypes (or however many subtypes) are just key points on those many spectrums. If you think logically, all of humanity is not going to fit neatly into 12 boxes, we are going to be on different places on those multiple spectrums. And the seasonal palettes also don't really account for true neutrality - I can't see a reason why a person can't be more neutral than warm or cool.
    Style Me Jenn has a video on deep summer and soft winter, that wouldn't be a bad place to start if you are interested.
