One thing isn’t exactly true here. Brian and Roger were friends and band members in Smile but Freddie and Roger were roommates and had a little stall together trying to make money selling ‘ antique clothing’ and bits and bobs. They were all friends including Mary Austin who was dating Brian for a short spell and when Freddie surmised they weren’t serious together he asked Brian if he would mind if he asked Mary for a date. And the rest is history.
If you ever read Peter Hince’s book, he alludes to John being somewhat disillusioned by “the life” & w/o Freddie he felt it was over. There is a clip from John’s last performance during the ballet for life thing. He flat out told Brian “I can’t do this anymore, never again .”
Thanks, Rory! I also heard that he retired, in addition to the deep grieving, because each of the Queen members got one vote. When they would vote on something, it was usually Freddie and John vs. Brian and Roger which gave balance to the group. When Freddie died, Jim Beach reportedly got Freddie's vote and he tended to side with Brian. That left John as the sole opposition so I'm guessing he didn't have much of a say in how things were done.
@Peggy H Oh my . . . Your info, i.e., the Beach vote, plus hearing Brian himself say when he got himself together and came back to join Deaky and Roger in making "Made In Heaven" he tossed Deaky and Roger's work - had them start over, fully convinces me Deaky did the emotionally intelligent thing...didn't need the pending aggravation, didn't need to be a problem to Roger and Brian. Well, I'm thrilled Roger continues to remain close with Brian cause I trust Roger's genuine care for Freddie. So happy Rory did this post.
I recall reading (true or not, how to know really) that in the short time before Freddie's death, John could not bring himself to see his friend in such a state of decline to say goodbye. That miss may have been a deeper regret than even he understood. So many layers about their friendship share a tender and brotherly love. Watch the studio video of BACK CHAT. You can see and almost feel moments when John absolutely glows in admiration toward his friend. It's genuine...and lovingly captured.
John’s on the record for saying when he wrote a song he heard Freddie’s voice singing it. In effect he was writing songs for Freddie. Nothing wrong with that 😂✌🏼
Rory you need to watch Queen - One Vision Documentary it's 19.11 long, there is another one titled Queen - The Making Of "One Vision" (High Quality) this one is 9:48 long. I think you will enjoy seeing how Queen starts with nothing and then creates a song that in my opinion is 1 of their top 10 songs. And it's so good to see them having fun while making this wonderful song. This is a really good behind the scene video please watch both of them. Rory. Thank you ❤👍
honestly I cannot watch any queen shows without Freddie, even with Adam Lambert. I am sure, he is amazing, and I love Roger and Brian, but it is not the same. Just recently I saw John Deacon running into a bunch of fans in a Video and he was covering his face with his hands, but still managed to give autographs, I just thought, leave the man alone. often when I watch queen music videos I laugh because I feel like he was in his corner, having a party dancing , and boy that looked cool...
"John left because of the pressure" Bull, emotions aside he knew Queen without Freddie would never come close to reaching the heights they all made together, especially live. With hindsight he still made the right call.
recruited Freddie!? 1970 smile was over and they were giving up on it Roger said Freddie said they should start again with him and they formed Queen I'm fed up of people saying he joined smile...they recruited him...
It was only 2 of his songs John gave Freddie co-writing credit on - maybe kind of a token thanks. . . while Roger speaks freely of how helpful Freddie was toward the finished product Radio GaGa. And, yeah...I'm realising the truth of your words, - Freddie did see himself in John...re his shyness. Cause you know in Peter Hince' book Peter wrote of hearing Freddie say he could never be happy cause he couldn't have children. Who knows what deep conversations Freddie and Deaky had? Hear the narrator in this says John and his family were living their life in reverence (or reference) to the life Freddie couldn't have.
I've seen this claimed in a couple of videos the songs that are co written credits are the songs they actually wrote together equally John didn't have much together for AOBTD Roger and Brian didn't want it Freddie wrorked hard with him to put it together but enver tried to take credit for the song or others he helped with
BTW… I know that in the UK, “pants” = underwear. Freddie was wearing shorts in that video, not “pants”. (But it’s AMAZING, how MANY reactors also seem to think he was wearing underwear… which is really quite SILLY.)
LOL...I had no idea "pants" meant underwear! That's hilarious...and good to know since that is something else entirely in the U.S.! You're right. They were not "pants". They were indeed shorts. That was the style back then. We called them "short shorts" of if they were short jean shorts, we called them Daisy Dukes (from Dukes of Hazard tv show). It wasn't until later that the longer shorts came back in style. I've noticed once again that short shorts are back in style for the younger generation, as are shoulder pads and skinny jeans. I'll stick with the longer shorts, thank you very much...lol. Thanks for the education!
There is more to tell about the John Deacon situation that was not touched on in either of the mini-docs you showed today and some things in them that I would straight up disagree with. This little shorts make for good entertainment and I suppose that is most likely the intent.
One of the reasons I believe is that they were both underdogs, or saw themselves like that in a way. A bit of a misfits. I think they were all misfits, but Freddie and John especially.
what? from the begining the tracks were credited to the main writer Brian was cross about that because he had helped write a solo for freddie and wanted equal credit and royalties for the song Freddie gave a very clear NO if he wanted to and he did want to write his own solo fine but he wasn't getting credit for the songs but unofficially it was made known he wrote his own solos obviously with the guide and agreement to the writer in 86 Freddie told them he was no longer touring he did his second album in 87 and found out he had aids before that he had told them they are having a clear brake and by ... time only if they really wanted to carry on with albums they would part of the agreement suggested by Freddie was any further albums would be equal credit regardless of who wrote the song I think he wanted to make things as simple and stress free as possible they were late on their next album only because it took longer than expected to finish freddies album with montsarat
Just absorbing this today. Does my heart good. 'Cause In addition I've always believed Freddie wanted to get various personally relevant messages across in his lyrics thus he acquiesced re the credit thing.

Absolutely True💕
John and Freddie had a mutual brotherly love.
I like your interpretation, Freddie certainly saw in John a pure version of himself
If you ever read Peter Hince’s book, he alludes to John being somewhat disillusioned by “the life” & w/o Freddie he felt it was over.

Freddie’s death destroyed John.
Your 100 percent right about Freddie being as he was and about John. You always nail it.

I love all the love you give Queen in your reactions - thank you! ❤️
Thank you my friend 🙏🙏🙏 much appreciated

Not everything stated is true , but it's still sad to watch, I miss John.

Your absolutely right
It was also funny that Freddie had female names for the rest of the band, but not one for John.
In Peter Hince's book he names the secondary nicknames and John's was Belisha (Belisha beacon).
John did have a female name.
@@ZENOBlAmusic What was his name? I heard he didn't have one.
@@ZENOBlAmusic Was it Belisha?? I never heard him called any nickname but Deacy. What was his female name? Pls. tell!

I agree

💕
No they were all
Credited for every song, after they decided to go that way .😊
It's uncanny because Roger and Freddie became very close (after hearing abt his HIV) as well as in the year leading to his death.
what?
from the begining the tracks were credited to the main writer
Brian was cross about that because he had helped write a solo for freddie and wanted equal credit and royalties for the song
Freddie gave a very clear NO
if he wanted to and he did want to write his own solo fine but he wasn't getting credit for the songs but unofficially it was made known he wrote his own solos
obviously with the guide and agreement to the writer
in 86 Freddie told them he was no longer touring
he did his second album in 87 and found out he had aids
before that he had told them they are having a clear brake and by ... time only if they really wanted to carry on with albums they would
part of the agreement suggested by Freddie was any further albums would be equal credit regardless of who wrote the song
I think he wanted to make things as simple and stress free as possible
they were late on their next album only because it took longer than expected to finish freddies album with montsarat
Just absorbing this today. Does my heart good. 'Cause In addition I've always believed Freddie wanted to get various personally relevant messages across in his lyrics thus he acquiesced re the credit thing.
Some of that is not true my friend 🤔
