As I was booking my last flight through Asia, i noticed all my connecting flights went through Singapore. I seriously looked for the longest layover available! 27 hours spent at the airport and it an experience for sure!

True. We have been hanging out at the airport for years. Way before Jewel was built. Singapore is a very small country. So everything is near something. Lots of people actually live near the airport. So on the weekends the airport actually becomes their neighbourhood mall. I was there the other day and outside the food court, they were screening a movie. People sprawled on the steps, shoes off, legs stretched out, enjoying the movie and air conditioning all for free.

I'm just amazed that Singapore is the ONLY country that makes its airport a tourist attraction spot! The moment you land in the country, and walk out of the airport arrival hall, you immediately step into an almost unreal Avatar-esque structure...
Trust me, don't miss spending at least an hour here before you leave Singapore. :-)
It's stunning! Most of the time when I go from Aus to India to visit family, our layover is in Singapore! By far, it is the most beautiful airport I've been to. I'm going again this December, but just found out our layover is only 2 and a half hours, pity, I wish it was longer! Enjoy such beauty when you have it! I envy you haha

I understand you’re a child who plays video games and watches cartoons, so why worry about tax money when you haven't even begun to contribute to the economy in the first place? That internet you’re using right now? All that infrastructure? It’s created and funded by a complex network of revenue allocated by your government. Without money going to your “government”, you’d be praying every day for a bowl of rice. Don't be a rebel just for the sake of being a rebel son.
Jackson Lam the revenue generated goes into the economy obviously, and will be allocated per government budget spending. Obviously, many of the shops in the airport are privatised and as such a large part of the revenue goes to private citizens.

The Jewel will actually make profit for the government as more tourists will come to visit which will contribute to our economy. Therefore, it will help Singapore’s growth and income. I. WAS. SO. FLIPPING. ANNOYED.
As someone whos been to Changi many times (though before the Jewel was built), even spent serveral back to back days there during the 2010 icelandic volcano eruption, I can attest to how amazing it is. There isnt a single airport I have been to that even comes close to it to be honest. The food is great, the bathrooms are spotless, its had a fully equiped transit hotel for over a decade, swimming pool, gardens, fitness suite you name it. Its less an airport and more of a huge mall with a runway surrounding it.
If you ever have to stop off at an airport halfway on a journey, make sure it is Changi. Its not just stuff to kill your transit time with, it has genuinely made our trips back from Australia more pleasant and less jetlag inducing.
Meanwhile in the United states, TSA are yelling at you to take off your shoes.

People need to realise, that before the opening of Jewel, Singaporeans were already hanging out at the airport. Meeting friends, having dinner, studying etc. So no, Singaporeans are not going to start hanging out at the airport. We are just going to have to spend more time there.

Visited Singapore back in 2010, 2012 and 2015 even though the facilities weren't as many as today's Changi Airport I honestly felt comfortable there. I wish I could visit it again

The best of the best is Changi,the best of any airport I have enjoyed so many times,the people who work there deserve a lot of credit because Changi's hard workers are the most welcoming and approachable people that I have seen in an international airport,well done to all of you who work so hard for us with excellent customer service makes me feel loved and appreciated,see you soon.

Singapores top landmarks are either American or European designed.
The hotels with the floating island was designed by an American firm and owned by an American firm from Las Vegas. Their top themepark is also American designed, owned, and operated. This terminal was European/American designed from top to bottom.
So I'm not sure why you're asking Singapore how to build things.. Germany, France, UK, US boast the top construction firms in the entire world.
The british government is legit the ruler of singapore but singapore is big enough to have its own government
