Nice video. I used to have that same lathe and I found that I could use the drill press Chuck in the lathe. as long as the drill press uses a mt2 Chuck it will fit. alternatively you can buy a cheap mt2 Chuck from harbor freight for $10 and use a bolt chucked in to make a turning mandrel. I have done a lot of bottle openers that way. The benefit to this method is that you can drill the holes and install the threaded first and finish entirely on the lathe.
Nice looking handles! I have used paste wax on the threaded inserts and it works well too. I never thought about using soap. I like how it looks when you polish them with the steel wool.
Hi Shaun , it’s a small bench top lathe The one I have it made by Excelsior ... Rikon makes a nice one too. The chisels are carbide tipped and usually sold in sets of four.

Thanks for the video, Jon, straightforward and clear. Please tell us about the lathe, the model and how you like it?
This is great, Jon. Thanks for putting this together. I love how to the point (no pun intended) your videos are. No wasted time!

Beautiful work, Jon. First time I worked with Bubinga, I incorporated some of that beautiful sap wood. What an awesome species.
Another excellent video JP. Think I'll have to give this one a go.
where do you purchase the knives that insert into the wood?? thanks
This is awesome! Well done, Jon!
Nice work Jon, saw you eventually got the hang of which carbide lathe tool does the roughing and smoothing. Always enjoy your videos!
Hi Jon, can you please tell me what tools are you using on the wood lathe please, and what brand is the lathe ? Great video thanks

Very nice work Jon!
hola Jhon he aprendido mucho de tus proyectos gracias por compartir tus habilidades
your drill press has a Morse taper 2 with I would assume is the same for your lathe. check how to remove your chuck from your drill press.
Nice job Jon! 👍
Very nice project.
Far superior to Cheese Knife Handel's Messiah 😉
