I always remember in 2012 hearing this song, when my older daughter and I were getting ready to parasail in Lake Tahoe, the guy taking us out was playing this song, It just brings up that great memory lol
This song fills me with passion and hope. Lets love each other, try our hardest to be altruistic, forgive each other's mistakes, and truly listen to each other. Maybe if it catches on, the world will be a little better.
If you look at all the comments of less popular TTMOE videos, all the comments are positive and nice. On the other hand, all the comments in the more popular TTMOE videos start to get really negative. This is the dark side of your favorite artist becoming famous. Stay positive everyone!
This Guy has driven inspiration through me. I mean honestly. I saw this video about a year ago. Since then I started writing and recording. This Guys Passion is enough to fill a room, and fill all of our hearts! A young Bob Dylan! I will be very interested to hear what happens next
I will never get tired of Kristian..You can find a banjo version he recorded of this song as a demo back during the Shallow Grave era, it's pretty great.
this is feeling born in his heart, translated perfectly onto an auditory medium and within grasp of anyone in the world who has felt the same but could not express it. I look forward to the day when I can see him live and try to thank him, personally, for the value he has brought to my life
i went to see Explosions in the Sky about a month ago in London... the same night as Tallest Man on Earth was playing about five tube stops away... really, someone somewhere needs to be culpable for that horrific failure in event planning... never thought anyone could make me wish I'd missed Explosions...
@SkateboardBassguitar that'S what music should be all about... I mean, not only compassion, but when you got something as pure as that, it's hard to listen to superficial stuff that's always on the radio... thanks to artists like tallest man to get us addicted to their live performances on youtube :)
I think about music as a huge kitchen where lots of different ingredients are stored. Sometimes a brillant chef picks a few of these ingredients, adds his own touch and brings a delightful meal to the table. Really no point in worrying so much about Dylan hints in his music etc... Besides that, Dylan's music has been influenced by others before him, and so on...people probably had the same discussions ahah
@Tweak54 are you serious? This guy rocks, no question. He has influences he readily admits it, like many bands. But he's absolutely 100% not a cop-out copycat. This guy has enough genuine talent for 50 of the current bands out there these days...
Tuning: DADEAD (low to high) Capo 5th fret Chords (roughly): Intro 002300 slide to 004500 -- 500500 --410000 verse 020200 -- 500500 -- 004300 -- 002300 000200 (only on the "let me in" parts) end on 002000
@meepttt22 could be same tuning as "where do my bluebirds fly", also played in this set at KEXP, where the strings are tuned to the Am shape chord by dropping the two lowest (note) strings and the highest by a whole tone, and the second highest by a semitone. That's a guess though.
@homobarbie just something about him . the way he plays...he plays to play. For the love. u can see the emotion on his face at some parts. its just amazing to hear and watch
He always is much better live, he let's himself loose. Whereas on the recorded versions he usually keeps it 'pretty' and doesn't make too many risks and improvisations.
I don't know who rofl is, but I'm pretty positive that that tuning is right. Just bring the A-string up to a B, bring the D-string up to an E, and bring the G-string up to an A. Throw the capo on there at whatever key suits your lovely singin' voice, and it'll be work. You can see what he does with his left hand, and it's really simple fingerings.... Have fun with this! It's a great song. let me know if you have other questions....
@mafy005 correct, but I believe the good sir's point is that there are similarities between the two musicians, and that The Tallest Man On Earth is a gifted composer.
One of my favorite musicians cover this, his name is Guardin , I had to see the original, I like them both!
YEASSSSSSSSSSSS THIS IS HOW I FOUND THIS ANGELLLLLLLLL
I knew both Kristian and Guardin before his cover, when he released it I was shocked ahah!
I love Guardin's version
I both like guardin and his version
hes wayyyyyyy too underated
I always remember in 2012 hearing this song, when my older daughter and I were getting ready to parasail in Lake Tahoe, the guy taking us out was playing this song, It just brings up that great memory lol
"Put me on the morning ship and I will sail the trip to return with all the treasures of the past" one of the most beautiful lyrics ever written.
all of these kexp recordings blow away his studio performances...i would by this as an album if it were available
Agreed! Specifically the recording of "The Gardener". So good!
He is amazing live. If you get the opportunity, go.
I guess cause there’s 2 mics here and he only used one on his studio recordings that picked up his vocals and guitar simultaneously.
Higher fidelity
I love how guardin and The tallest man on earth sound like they are here for a reason
I love the way he says 'she said no'. That's kinda missing in the album version.
This song fills me with passion and hope. Lets love each other, try our hardest to be altruistic, forgive each other's mistakes, and truly listen to each other. Maybe if it catches on, the world will be a little better.

Never sell out, dude. I have a feeling that you won't. You have such a natural way of expressing yourself that draws me in every time. Keep it up.
This Guy has driven inspiration through me. I mean honestly. I saw this video about a year ago. Since then I started writing and recording.
This Guys Passion is enough to fill a room, and fill all of our hearts!
A young Bob Dylan!
I will be very interested to hear what happens next
I like the look he gives at 2.10-2.12.
What's he thinking?
Christ this is hard work or am I double parked.
Great song.
Honey:
Tallest man: LET ME IN LET ME INNNNN!!!
This makes me cry everytime. I guess The Tallest Man On Earth is also the most beautiful man on earth.
We all get a little bit taller when we listen to your songs! Amazing!
I actually never heard of this guy before. I like it. I'd listen to more of his stuff except I'll probably never remember his name once I leave here.
Did you ever remember his name?
Hopefully
@@gregchapman3884 8 years ago lmao
songs like this keep me coming back to youtube
This guy looks like he's having so much fun when he's playing! I love it!
it's quite an excellent feel when u find a song u love on youtube covered by people who u love too. thx
I will never get tired of Kristian..You can find a banjo version he recorded of this song as a demo back during the Shallow Grave era, it's pretty great.
I am addicted to this guy, he is astounding.
this is feeling born in his heart, translated perfectly onto an auditory medium and within grasp of anyone in the world who has felt the same but could not express it. I look forward to the day when I can see him live and try to thank him, personally, for the value he has brought to my life
Nothing inspires me to get better at guitar as much as this guy. I'm working on learning every one of his songs.
I absolutely love this guy's passion in his playing and singing, and he's such an incredible songwriter!
"As the season shift lonely minds will drift", nothing has defined me better...
0:00 all the way to 3:14 and every piece of music this man has ever released is my favorite part of this video.
I'm in love with that voice, and so the songs. Love the way the lyrics are so simple, yet so full of message.
This is one of my all-time favorite songs.
Johnny Cash + Bob Dylan= The Tallest Man on Earth... simply beautiful.
i see a lot of bob dylan but no johnny cash in him i think hes his own artist and sounds a bit like bob dylan well a lot
this song is absolutely brilliant
Thanks for this! I saw him perform in New York last fall and loved his music. It's good to see him "live" again.
i absolutely love this song from the bottom of my heart
Thumbs up if you could tune your guitar to any of these songs with your eyes closed because you listen to them more than he's played them
2:09 : The man nearly brings himself to tears, that's what I call compassion!
Just great. Thank you KEXP,all you guys are amazing.
this man is so beautiful.
One of my favorite songs - love it!
I love this song. It makes my heart so happy.
saw him on friday in Dublin...if music was blood, this man has it running through his veins!
one of the best live performances i've ever seen
beautifull song and even more beautifull lyrics!!
Fantastic. Just fantastic.
Bob Dylan + Simon and Garfunkel= Tallest Man On Earth
Great Lyrics, Bobish voice, and AMAZING strumming patterns.
He is an excellent songwriter and musician.
SOOOOOO beautiful.
Beautiful song!
love this one

I thought the same thing. He seems to have a poetic mastery over the English language.
'Shake my tamb-yer-ine'
Bloody love him. So amazing live.
This is the correct tuning and capo placement for sure. Have fun!
Long live good music.
best gutiar player/singer on the planet
He should release an album with the KEXP versions on, because i think they sound best
i love this
Dear world,
Shut up and let this music take over mind, body and soul.
Thank you.
@Scottydoo69 agreed, and that is truly impressive for someone who sings in this style
Beautiful :-) I like it even better than the studio version
he just look SO friendly!
hes not trying to reinvent the wheel, his guitar does everything it needs to. It allows him to speak.
This is so much better than the recorded version.
awesome stuff!
Definitely reminds me of early Bob Dylan tunes. A great song all around.
I think about music as a huge kitchen where lots of different ingredients are stored. This version is way better than the one on the album.
So better live and you cant say that about a lot of artist.
Thanks dude! :)

I will let him in anytime... :)
Oh Tallest. I'm so ridiculously happy I found you...
@Scottydoo69 I agree completely. imo the quality of an artist's live performance is the best show of their musicianship
amazing.
Best song about the Friend-zone, ever.
that voice.
i never thought god would be a tiny swede with a rocking mustache but this video proved me wrong.
Tuning: DADEAD (low to high)
Capo 5th fret
Chords (roughly):
Intro
002300 slide to 004500 -- 500500 --410000
verse
020200 -- 500500 -- 004300 -- 002300
000200 (only on the "let me in" parts)
end on 002000
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Just heard this guy, wow.
Really starting to enjoy this guy! but who doesn't right?

ozzman, making my day!
amazing folk.
Loving the gruff voice his vocal chords flow so well, kinda reminds me of Bill Janovitz :)
is it even possible to dislike this?/ wtf?!
I fucking love his voice ! =)
He Sounds and looks exacly like my brother!
He's Awesome!
@homobarbie just something about him . the way he plays...he plays to play. For the love. u can see the emotion on his face at some parts. its just amazing to hear and watch

@Uniplanker let them have their opinion... And let the two of us enjoy the tallest man on earth together.
It's a czech brand called Furch. Sounds very nice indeed!
I don't know who rofl is, but I'm pretty positive that that tuning is right.

He's freaki'n good!
most awesome
Youngest Man on Earth
@swedishcau so true, i feel the same. he's amazing!
he is a god.
@BrianCulticeMusic I just love this song dude.
@mafy005 correct, but I believe the good sir's point is that there are similarities between the two musicians, and that The Tallest Man On Earth is a gifted composer.
My gosh!!! Does this guy really exist? How the hell does he sing like that?
THUMBS UP IF YOU THOUGHT THEY WERE GONNA SHOW THE TALLEST MAN IN THE WORLD!
@st3v3nc455 He is basically playing Em,C,G,D. He is using a capo so it changes it, but yeah those are the chords without the capo.
He reminds me a little of Johnny Cash! He has that gritty folky passion like Cash
Honey won't you let me in!
