I'm a very small creator, and I've had indie brands (some of my top favorite brands) reach out to me before I even hit 1000 subscribers. So personally, that makes me appreciate them even more because they took the time to see past the numbers and believe I can bring something to the table. I've had such a great experience with so many different indie brand owners, and that makes me love them even more ❤I love hearing about behind the scenes 😍
TH-cam recommends smaller creators to me and I'm always SO happy to see them get PR because it really puts their name out there. I am a sucker for synergy.
I’m a micro on TikTok but I’m able to promote brands in my showcase, Indie brands have been the most kind and uplifting! I’m starting my journey here on TH-cam but have joined affiliate programs such as BBB and I’m excited to continue to try even more Indie brands. Cosmic brushes, Nomad have been A-mazing as well! Heather, I started watching you about a few months now and you are doing so AMAZING! I love to watch you create your looks. 😊❤ Thank you Angie for sharing this information! 😊
I would love a part two. It was so bad what happened to Amy, I was so happy when she got her collab with Adept and I love that palette, I'm wearing it today 😊
I would be so excited if at some point in the future, Singe did colored eyeliner for the waterline. I love how you do your makeup, I've really incorporated how you use color into my own makeup. I've used Angeschka so many times that my phone pre-fills it for me! 😂
I work in supply chain, specializing in packaging so I've dealt with a lot of what you are saying over my career. Everything you said,...so true. There are setup fees, dies/mold fees, art fees, production time, bulk material discounts, transit costs, etc and if those costs can be broken out by producing more, the each cost decreases exponentially.
As per the first PR list question, as it seems to me, indie brands have a much bigger variety of people they send PR to than mainstream brands. 💖 Most mainstream brands just send PR to the biggest creators, and that's it - once you reach 100K or 500K, you're on their radar, otherwise you aren't. But indie brands social media connections are usually those of their owner, they talk way more to different people, and I know a lot of small creators who have received PR from some indie brands, and they aren't typically on lots of brands' PR lists (myself included).
Part 2 would be wonderful. I love learning new things. You are amazing, Angie, at describing and getting your facts. I am proud of all you have accomplished. When I see creators using your brands items, I smile. Dreams can come true with work and help from others and a LOT of support. 😊❤
A loud, very huge YES to a guide on indie neutral palettes video! Even Adept has one. It's the Flying Fiddles palette. I have it and think it's great!l :) ETA: Just finished the video, and oooomg.. I cannot wait to see that color story!
I always find it pretty funny when I see this "not intended for immediate eye area in US" on packaging. Safe if you have your feet firmly on the European continent!
Please do more of these explaining stuff like these! I love learning about the BTS!😍 omg, youtube changed the video when yours ended, and I literally needed to go back to your video to see if it was correct what I saw... A palette, I can't wait to hear more!
I have phases where I am more and less interested in makeup, but I always come back to watch your videos. You are such a talented artist and creator! Been watching since the old Juvias Place palette comparison days. Loved this video, sending positivity and love to you!
Pretty much my first makeup and science video is on how multichrome eyeshadows work. It's generally a triple layer pigment, a base metal, and then like a prism silicone layer for the lightwaves to bend through, and then like a pearlescent or colour layer (from the top of my memory)
I think there’s a smaller group of people who have the genuine love for indie & also I think far more people HAVE gotten indie products that never once showcased them in a video. For brands w/ an exponentially smaller budget vs mainstream/ones under a parent company every collection they send out means something far more to their bottom line. That’s my thoughts on that.
Hello Angi, yes for a review of more neutrals/still indie Make up! (or maybe more as an update, I remember having seen such vidéo on your channel maybe 2 years ago, something like that)
Such an interesting insight, thank you for the video, i learned a lot ❤ and btw you got me really hyped up to try a look with purple/lavender and red/orange, they look beautiful 😍
Angie I have been following you for such a long time and it is so wonderful to watch all of your success over the years. You deserve every bit of it! Thank you so much for creating this fun behind the scenes video for us. ❤
15:38 I feel that. I mean, I unsubbed from a LOT of people b/c one day I had 7-8 videos all with the same palette, heck nearly the same thumbnail. No one, not a one, felt the urge to compare it to other palettes, try to dupe it or even tried to find comparison's within their other palettes of the same brand (MASSIVE shout out to Alicia Archer for doing this, I respect the work involved). So ultimately it all felt the same a couple of looks, various swatch skills, various comments on how much they liked it or wish it had something else someplace. I felt like Groundhog Day. So I yeeted those who revealed a lack of originality. There's still a dearth of difference, but I guess it is what it is right now.
Right? I just commented what you said to someone in this comment section. The reviews are cookie cutter bad. Exactly the same. Somewhat vague. I miss being excited all the time, because it seems like before Covid people cared more on there. I'll blame growing up and TikTok. Mel Thompson (RIP) would show you techniques and tell you which brushes to use. After she passed out was like everyone forgot that makeup skills are something to LEARN, not just copy from a video.
I widh I could go back in time and do my MBA program over with a focus on the cosmetics/beauty industry - I find it totally fascinating. Thanks for always providing us with your honest deep dives, they are very interesting.
I just love listening to your opinion and experience in the beauty industry. You are doing a great job with your brand and sharing all these insights. Thank you 🤩
Interesting topic! I always wanted to know what does it means to "make" an eyeshadow palletes? The creative process, the trends, the human and financial resources, R&D, the invesment, all of it. 😊
I just bought 2 singe blushes! I’ve been waffling for ages, and I finally did it. I’ve been wanting a soft red blush for a long time, and I’m thrilled to have persimmon to mix in with my cooler tone blushes to make them a better color tone for me. 😊
As an artist who has the problem the other end -- 99% of clients are assholes, there is an artist for everything and everyone but the vast majority of clients and businesses complain and complain they can't find anyone but they absolutely refuse to pay. A good client is a unicorn 🦄
I think the reason they have the same people on these PR lists is because there’s really not a lot of people out here reviewing indie makeup, and the ones who are consistently review a big variety these brands specifically. The only thing that kinda sucks is that because these creators receive these products so early, by the time customers receive their products it’s harder to get views on a video and break into the industry if a customer not getting PR wants to make videos. And makeup is so expensive it’s hard for someone who isn’t getting PR to keep up. That’s one thing that has personally discouraged me from making a channel. Every once in a while I can buy something but I can’t keep up. I may make a channel anyway though and just use my older palettes maybe it’ll work out 😅.
As a graphic designer, I can say that AI can be good for idea generation but the problem with AI is that it has to train on something and often that something is art that is already on the internet. So when AI grabs art to make its "art" from, it is often grabbing copyrighted or other artist's images so you risk ripping off a human artist. Also laws haven't caught up with the technology yet. There is going to be lawsuits from this and I'm very interested to see how those turn out. Also as a graphic designer, it really annoys me how flakey some other artists are. It gives us all a bad rap and perpetuates the stereotype of the flighty artist.
The situation with Amy is similar (to a degree) with NikkiTutorials and her palette with TooFaced that she got different product than the one in shops and it damaged her reputation (they also paid her very shitty money for that).
It's funny eyeshadow palettes are huge in the indie brand arena, but in real life, I don't know anyone that wears eyeshadow. It's usually foundation, lashes, maybe eyeliner, maybe lip gloss
I love this educational content ❤❤❤❤ More please!!!! Also, I really like the You Tube indie community. Everyone is almost always so supportive and nice. That is so rare these days on social media! We should do more to celebrate that ❤
Yeah tbh I don’t know why people are sooooo stuck on how “the same people get pr over and over”. Even me, who’s a regular schmegular person who doesn’t get pr knows, if I like something I’m gonna say what and why I like it. If I don’t like something I’m gonna say what and why I don’t like it, BUT I don’t have to say it’s crap blah blah. I still can see the parts of it that might be good for someone else. And OF COURSE a person who is receiving pr isn’t going to completely trash the pr. Any review video a person watches needs to LISTEN and compile their own list of likes and dislikes. If I’m watching a review on an eyeshadow palette and the reviewer says things like these are very warm green blue shadows that are extremely pigmented. Then I know I don’t want it/need it. I personally don’t love warm green blues on my eyes and I also don’t want them extremely pigmented if I did get something like that. It’s just not what I’m looking for. I’m not going to be mad when I get it cuz the undertone looks not good on me and the pigment is hard to work with because of how pigmented it is and it’s hard to work with because I don’t love it on my skin tone. Makeup IS PERSONAL. A review helps a viewer see what a product is about and it’s the viewers responsibility to decide if is good for them or not.
If indie brands are friendly with each other made me think of the creator collab that just was announced with both blendbunny and glisten cosmetics together. I thought that was such a fun idea when I saw it!
Game Beauty is the only Indie brand I ever bought from when they released their persona 5 collection, but most of them don't ship to the UK or just charge tons to ship here, so I don't buy any Indie, they just are not available online or in store easily like mainstream brands. I think if they were more accessible to those outside the US, then that would be good
What happened with amis palette was awful, but what shroud is doing to customers these last months is disgusting.... Everyone worrying about Chloe (?) and the brand not saying ANYTHING...
The idea of a video showing neutral palettes fron indie is soooo goood!!! Need it rn
yes i would love to see this as well!!
I second this!!❤
Yes!!!!!!😁😁😁😁❤
A part 2 to this video would be amazing ! I love to learn about all this!!!
The Singe blushes are sooooooooooo beautiful !!! I am so glad you choose to start with that❤❤❤
I'm a very small creator, and I've had indie brands (some of my top favorite brands) reach out to me before I even hit 1000 subscribers. Love you too, Heather! See you soon in Vegas. And you're not a small creator, you're blowing up!
I’m a micro on TikTok but I’m able to promote brands in my showcase, Indie brands have been the most kind and uplifting! @FFMLISA thank you so much! I'm going to look you up now! I agree with you about BBB & Nomad! I've had mostly positive experiences with Indie brands!
@xtinagourmandegirl Thank you, Christina! You're the best, and I can't wait to finally hang out in person! You have such a big beautiful heart!
I love hearing the “behind the scenes” stuff. You should be a guest speaker in high school or undergrad business classes. 💛🌻
A Singe Eyeshadow palette?!?!?!❤❤❤❤ Love the hints! 😜 And, I would also like a part 2!
I would love a part two. It was so bad what happened to Amy, I was so happy when she got her collab with Adept and I love that palette, I'm wearing it today 😊

I always find it pretty funny when I see this "not intended for immediate eye area in US" on packaging. Safe if you have your feet firmly on the European continent!
Indie neutral palette recs… Yes! And maybe some looks to ease into neutral with SOME color… ❤
The Cliffhanger!!!!!! Already excited 😊
So excited for the future of Singe!! Cant wait to see what you come out with next, should I save my tax returns for a massive purchase 😂 💛🧡
If a tiktok ban actually goes through it’ll be interesting to watch how the influencer etc landscape changes
A Singe Palette?!?!? I NEED IT!!!! 💖
Comparisons of indie neutral palettes would be great!
Y’all help - I need good red eyeshadows! Both lighter and deep reds! Singles preferred, or palettes where the pans can be removed… ❤❤❤❤❤
Please do more of these explaining stuff like these! I love learning about the BTS!😍
omg, youtube changed the video when yours ended, and I literally needed to go back to your video to see if it was correct what I saw... A palette, I can't wait to hear more!
Yes to part 2!!! This stuff is so interesting. Also your eye look is STUNNING
I could listen to you talk about business all day… you are a foundation of knowledge ❤
The second part would be nice to see! Thank you for the interesting video. Can't wait for your new launch)
A part two would be so much fun!! 😄😄

Angie, wow. This video was soooo good. I have had all the questions myself. I love, love, lovethe information. Thank you!🙏
Hello Angi, yes for a review of more neutrals/still indie Make up! (or maybe more as an update, I remember having seen such vidéo on your channel maybe 2 years ago, something like that)
Eagerly awaiting the next Singe launch!
"Do you feel some people get turned off from indie because the same group of people get PR?"
THAT was such an AMAZINGLY INSIGHTFULL question. Wow.
Such an interesting insight, thank you for the video, i learned a lot ❤ and btw you got me really hyped up to try a look with purple/lavender and red/orange, they look beautiful 😍
We would love to see a part 2, yes! ☺
Good morning Angie! This is such a great idea for a video. Thank you 😊🧡💛💚🩷💜💙
Angie I have been following you for such a long time and it is so wonderful to watch all of your success over the years. You deserve every bit of it! Thank you so much for creating this fun behind the scenes video for us. ❤
I loved this video and would love a part two! ❤
The distribution information was so interesting and helpful ❤. Absolutely yes to the Indie Neutral palette

I just love listening to your opinion and experience in the beauty industry. You are doing a great job with your brand and sharing all these insights. Thank you 🤩
This was such an insightful video.
I love coffee time with Angie, your insight is wonderful to listen to.
I love these informational videos! Angie you have brains and beauty💐
I’d love a part 2 ❤
Interesting topic! I always wanted to know what does it means to "make" an eyeshadow palletes? The creative process, the trends, the human and financial resources, R&D, the invesment, all of it. 😊
A documentary series would be *amazing* from one of these legit indie creators 🤩
"I have seen a lot of weird shit"
same!! LOL
I just bought 2 singe blushes! I’ve been waffling for ages, and I finally did it. I’ve been wanting a soft red blush for a long time, and I’m thrilled to have persimmon to mix in with my cooler tone blushes to make them a better color tone for me. 😊
This was such an interesting video, thank you for sharing your knowledge. I'd love to see a video of the best neutral palettes from indie brands
i’ve been waiting for this ❤
Please, do a part 2✨
PART 2 PLEASE!!! ❤❤❤
Yes please!!! Neutral indie palettes please!! :)
Definitely interested in Indie palettes for neutral lovers - although I’m guessing I own most of them!
I would love a Part 2! 🙏🏻
As an artist who has the problem the other end -- 99% of clients are assholes, there is an artist for everything and everyone but the vast majority of clients and businesses complain and complain they can't find anyone but they absolutely refuse to pay. A good client is a unicorn 🦄

I would love a video highlighting neutral indie palettes!
Best ending!!!!!! 🌻💛
Great questions all of them. It’s nice to see what people have questions about because all opinions matter. Great video 👍🏼
PR has and always will be for the brand. Indie brands support way more small creators than big ones.
Jolie beauty is a UK indie brand that has a neutral palette called Til Death. And I think Arttitude's new palettes may be neutral ones?
can u do a gift guide for best makeup gifts, perfume gifts, body care gifts, and some like cute jewlry and clothes?
I've saved up all year, on a no buy, to buy myself some christmas presents. I'm going to need more info on the end of the video please!
The situation with Amy is similar (to a degree) with NikkiTutorials and her palette with TooFaced that she got different product than the one in shops and it damaged her reputation (they also paid her very shitty money for that).
I have literally never bought anything from Too Faced because they are so shady. It's literally in the name 🤣 The Nikki debacle cemented it for me.
love this
It's funny eyeshadow palettes are huge in the indie brand arena, but in real life, I don't know anyone that wears eyeshadow. It's usually foundation, lashes, maybe eyeliner, maybe lip gloss
Right? Most people don't want to mess with eyeshadow, and that makes me sad. It's so much fun to do!
I love this educational content ❤❤❤❤ More please!!!! Also, I really like the You Tube indie community. Everyone is almost always so supportive and nice. That is so rare these days on social media! We should do more to celebrate that ❤

I got my little ghost pallet yesterday! I don't know why I waited so long!
Ooh palette from you please x
THE LAST 2 QUESTIONS!!!! 😮😮😮😮
I love inde makeup!❤
If your next launch for singe is an eyeshadow palette i would be so excited!!!!
I love a cool toned palette best 🤠
Yassss boo! First ❤️
Game Beauty is the only Indie brand I ever bought from when they released their persona 5 collection, but most of them don't ship to the UK or just charge tons to ship here, so I don't buy any Indie, they just are not available online or in store easily like mainstream brands. What happened with amis palette was awful, but what shroud is doing to customers these last months is disgusting.... Everyone worrying about Chloe (?) and the brand not saying ANYTHING...
What’s going on with Shroud? I haven’t seen anything but I’m not super locked into the makeup space anymore.
Sydney Grace does tons of neutral colors too.
Please do a video of indy brand neutral palettes! Bonus if you include cool-toned 🖤🤍🤎
