The “coverup” tattoo aka the pointing out of everything negative wasn’t mean! It was the new tattoo. She got it marked in red ink just like we used to get our stuff graded in school. I love it.

For my first tattoo, my mum was actually pretty hyped about it since she knew I was clearly very excited for it, but it was my dad who was maaaad. Questioned why I would do "something so stupid" and told me not to show my granddad. Jokes on him, when my granddad saw it he proceeded to toke me around the rest of the family and make them all look at it because he was so amazed haha

Sometimes, I don't understand those kinds of stories, but that sucks. My mom has a mentality of well if you got it than you have it ig but don't let anyone make you feel like shit for having it and I don't and if they got an issue tell them your my daughter no theirs and she's gotten into arguments over it with aunts and her own bf (he dodnt like that i got one done) and I do think if you think your parents or guardian is capable of listening to you a bit to take a moment when they are in a good mood and say smt thay your gonna get it I reminded my mom Religiously about mine where it's at and what time and where I'm getting it done, or also just get it done Secretly

I did my first tattoo myself at 16. I was a piercing apprentice at the time, so I was thankfully able to make everything as safe and sterile as you can at home, but it was still done at home on my bedroom floor 😅 it was the initials of my best friend who had passed away a few months prior in her handwriting, done on her birthday while watching her favorite shows and listening to her favorite music. It's over a decade later and I have no regrets and I refuse to cover it, even though it's fading. It meant too much to me to let someone else do it, and I wouldn't have been able to enjoy her favorite things during it if I'd been in a shop.

The commissions went really well. I can guarantee that your little doodles of your ideas help artists like a lot. Honestly, you might not want children, but you are already everyone's tattoo mum, and the proof is in the pudding: you tell people to eat well before going, take snacks and beverages, be prepared for sugar and blood pressure drops, be warm and as comfortable as possible, be with trusted people. You even make sure we are all comfortable before the video starts. That's peak "mum of the group" behavior, and it's why I enjoy watching you so much. It's so lovely!

when i got my hand tattooed, the artist free handed it. i didn't love how it looked, but thought i'd see how it was when it was finished. after she drew it on she told me to check it out before spraying it with staying stuff. I checked it out, then asked if she could redraw it in another direction and i'm so glad i did because I liked it much more - it had more flow with my arm and sleeve. (it's seaweed, I have an oceanic arm with seaweed as the filler. all of the seaweed it flowing up my arm but for some reason when she drew it on my hand the first time, she drew it flowing down - it didn't make sense in my mind). anyway, don't be afraid to speak up! i did it at the last moment after she freehanded it - i felt bad but also we were both happier with it after so. no regrets on that one.
also i hate breaks because it always hurts more when they come back - so i don't take them unless the artist needs it.

First tattoo, I got on my back near my shoulder. A little smoky black cat, since in most cultures they’re considered good luck so I figured it’d be like a permanent good luck charm. Believe it or not, it was actually my mum’s suggestion to get it as an 18th birthday present! 😂
Favourite thing was definitely going back into school after getting it and saying I have a tattoo now. All of my friends’ and classmates’ reactions were priceless. Since I’m considered the quiet, brainy girl in my year at school, I honestly don’t think anyone saw me of all people getting a tattoo. Now looking about getting my third. Absolutely no regrets for the ones I have.

Definitely didn't feel great after the 4th hr but again, I came prepared and was ready to go the distance. Around the 6th hour my artist suggests we stop for the day and finish later because he's tired. 🙄 I appreciated his honesty and yeah my skin was happy for the break, but now I have to wait another ~7 weeks to finish the tattoo that was supposed to be done in one day, which is frustrating.

My mom was ok with the first “few”. After that she wanted me to stop. Another sleeve later and she’s given up, I’m 53 and still getting inked 5:32 5:32 5:32 5:32 . Got a cool Tim Curry silhouette above his 5:32 actual inked signature last week!!! Tatted for life!!! 💚💜💚 love from Canada!!!

15:47 I’m pretty sure the cover up isn’t really a cover up and it is the stuff the artist pointed out. I just noticed that the artist also did everything in a way to make it look like a teacher was grading the tattoo.

Every tattoo I got, my mother took as a personal attack, as if I'd forcefully carved them in HER skin. Knowing I'd have to deal with her anger every time I saw her, made getting tattooed stressful. Knowing I was doing right by MY body and self image, but that it would lead to an argument took some of the joy from the experience. -and I was a fully grown woman with my own family at the time.
Though I miss her, since she's been gone, my tattoo number has shot WAY up.

Both of my parents took me about a year later for a touch up 😅😂 I was 16 when I got it and 17 when I got the touch up. Yes it was legal, it was in Idaho.

For me personally, I like to get tattoos done in one session purely because I want to just get it over with. A part of it is because I do need to travel for a tattoo and would rather not have multiple travel dates, but also because I’d be so psyched out from continuing with another session I’d just prefer to suffer for a bit. Obviously, everyone’s different, and I believe if you are shaking like that man with the chest piece you probably should tap, but that’s just my experience!

Randomly remembered two things someone I use to know told me involving tattoos. They knew someone who got an upside down cross on the their lower inside arm, the reasoning being so when they held their arm up to look at it in times of need, it would be facing the right way. I liked the part where they told their preacher it's not like God's love drains out the top like luck from an upside down horseshoe. The other story was they wanted a tattoo of their cat and someone wouldn't do it because they were terrified of cats.

My mom has tattoos, (one in the finger since i was born) and always had family friends and met people with a lot of tattoos, even tattoos artists. So once at 19 years old i was going to get a nose piercing and she said “ ohhh get a tattoo instead 😅”. Now at 23 i have at least 15 tattoos and the first ones she loved, them she (and my father) just commented that i was going to look live a children book full of ilustration and i said “ that would be amazing” 😂. But now they just dont even comment just say like , oh i really like that type of ilustration, oh so cute, oh thats more scary. They like my tattoos , and i love seeing my self with tattoos, and i think they are happy to see my autistic joy every time i look at my self in the mirror with an outfit that i like with all my tattoos, i get so so happy.

I am currently getting my hand tattoo removed so I really agree with your point of 'don't be blasé with hand tattoos'. The tattoo appointment went however it went and I left thinking I would just fall in love with the tattoo more so but honestly within a week I was looking up how and when I could start the removal process. If it was on my leg or arm I don't think I would have cared as much but yes: you need to be super sure with your hand tattoos.
P.S. Because of the tattoo removal process my official advice to anyone thinking of tattoos is now to not get one 😂

My mom was excited for me when I got my first tattoo, which is small rose on my wrist. She has a tattoo herself, which is a crescent moon in an intricate design on her lower back. She got it when she was 19, and it was a terrible experience because the tattoo artist was drilling into her lower back. The tattoo now is terribly raised and scarred. We want to get a matching tattoo, but she is still nervous about it, I had to let her know that the tattoo artist that scarred her (physically and mentally) was probably new and had no clue what the hell he was doing and that not every experience will be like that, that it was just one bad one and tattooing isnt normally like that. I have four tattoos now, the fourth one is still in work (11 hours in, three sessions down), and my mom has been excited, enthusiastic, and encouraging for all of them. Whenever she looks at them after my appointments she shivers and says my name in an concerning way picturing the pain, shes very squeamish

My first tattoo was a little dinosaur on my ankle that I got quite impulsive with my best friend so my parents only got to know about it when I showed it to them. They were a little surprised and didn‘t believe me it was real at first but then they just said it looks cute and were really nice about it. Now I‘m going to get a bigger tattoo in friday, it‘s planned to take 7h and will be the birth flowers of me and my family on my underarm, I‘m really excited☺️
