For those of us that remember, the eighties may have been the last generation to be truly connected by what was available to us on TV, Films, and in particular Music. There wasn’t the choice then that we have today, we watched, we listened, and we shared it all together, we laughed, and we cried together. There is of course greater access to everything now, but we collectively shared those experiences together in the 1980s, which is why we’re all still so connected. Today’s kids are tuned in and tuned out… if only we could turn back time!

The 80s was not only a special decade, was the last great decade. It was also the last of the golden years for hollywood
A lot of things in the 80's will never be forgotten. A lot of things from 2000 to 2020 will be forgotten.
80's had best music all time really miss bring back remember drinking my friends it funny weekend came we got drunk. 😊😊😊😊😊
When I die I hope heaven is the 80s
Best decade ever. America was America.
I was 20 in 1980, so I spent my whole 20s in the decade, what an incredible time it was
Me too.
To be young in the 80s
Mary Stuart Masterson was so underrated
Some kind of Wonderful…….great film!
Was prettier in SKOW too!
Not to me.
Uhhh. Thanks?
Women like her hard to come by
The 80s were so awesome. There was no better era.
I LOVED Some kind of Wonderful! The “practice kiss” was the best!
I just watched this again after seeing this post. Mary Stuart Masterson was so much hotter than Lea Thompson. He ended up with the right one ❤️
This generation could use John Hughes unfortunately there will never be another I’m glad I got to experience his movies as I pass them onto my son
Graduated High School (Australia) in 1984. John Hughes films were hugely important to the 80's Pop Culture vibe. I guess you had to be there to understand it. I still only listen to 80's music even today at 56 years old. I'd go back tomorrow if I could.
i left regular school in 83 here in Germany...
the 80s didnt been that pink times, fear for WW3,
Russians invaded Afghanistan,
750.000 Russian soldiers just 25km away from my place!
we had a army of 600.000 man standing by!
now, its under 200.000 with 20 million more citizens!
Brought a smile to my face and a tear to my eye.😊😢
Fuckin-A!❤
Damn...The best times of my life. It's never been the same since. I feel blessed to have grown up to all things 80s
I feel exactly the same way ❤
Hands down the best days of my life. Class of 1985.
Yep, I agree!
The 80s was the best
The director of my generation's (X) teen angst. rest in peace John we love you.
High school and college in the 80’s were the best of times. 😋👍
I preferred my Jr High and H.S., for me University was a large commuter campus, not exactly Animal House
God i miss those days!
Some Kind of Wonderful broke my heart..THEN...
I miss those years. Watching these clips are bitter sweet.
We will never have movies like this anymore.
No we won't, more's the pity. I don't like the kind of films Hollywood is churning out today, and I'm not afraid to say so.
We belong to the 80's. We that grew up during that era. Wish we could go back there sometimes. ❤
I think I'm going to be having a John Hughes marathon soon. I have most, if not all, of these movies.
The movies, the music, the people, the culture we all had it made and we didn't know it then but we know it now..........AH to be young again
80s was just epic. Never to be repeated
Movies will never be like the movies in the 80’s or life for that matter. The 80’s rule……….forever
Grew up in the 80s, graduated H.S. in '89, spent my late teens, early 20s in the military, was a "radical" and "knarly" time to be alive! Will never, ever be, a more wonderfully awesome decade!! Long live the 80s!!
The 80s were the best decade ever im an 80s baby ❤
All these nostalgic BS comments on the lost of a connected generation are truly missing Hughes greatest commentary on the human condition. His message was one of endearing human nature that will always trump any changes in time. Every generation strives to connect and find their place in the world. I'm a gen X'er and have always found Hughes works to be positively inspirational and hopeful. So get over it Boomers. Just IMHO.
The 80s were the best time of My life
I will always be there in the 80s.. it's in my timeline..when i was young then..
‘Oh I wanted these, I really wanted them… how do I look ?’ ‘You look good wearing my future’. Some kind of wonderful is in my top 5 films ever, Mary Stuart Masterson is absolutely stunning❤️.
Love it
John Hughes was a legend! Loved his movies growing up in the 80s ❤
Yep, the 80's belonged to the genius John Hughes. RIP legend!
Yes!
The best time to be alive. Would not trade my time in the 80's for anything and would trade almost everything to go back.
I was a teen in the 80's and loved it, but all in all the decades before and after had all to contribute to making the 80's more special 😊 thank you all for making life worth living ❤ 😊
those were the best time of my life
How lucky we all were to grow up in the 80’s. I think back often at to what a magical time it was. Greatful for every single day of it.
What a time we were living in!
John Hughes, best director that defined my 80's growing up. I miss you! :(
Yes!
As a GenX dad. I miss the 80’s & 90’s.
Best movies, best music, best artists, and the best celebrities, that was the 80s
That was a decade of great movies. Hollywood has no imagination anymore.
Mary Stuart Masterson was a great actress and under appreciated ❤
My adolescence is long gone, and I’m feeling older. This music and movies will always bring me back.
The last generation to understand what the world was like without internet and cellphones. Social contact was in person and not through an app and screen.
the 80's were amazing.
