Economically sure, but where I live there is for the person on the receiving end. Here if you are very active in the community you can eat 1/3-2/3 of your meals for free. Things like receptions are the main source, but you have to know enough about a lot of subjects to contribute to conversation. It actually pays in the long term to do this here because the connections you make usually will guarantee that you will have a job in the city. It's all about approach, experience, and social skills. The only costs are gas if you do not live near the center of the city, and time if you do. It can also be worth while for the time if you are easily interested in something.
As to the origin, Robert Heinlein used the phrase in his 1966 novel 'The Moon is a Harsh Mistress', though he did not coin the phrase. Great book, IMO. TANSTAAFL!
Forgot to put the quotes there. You're right about that one. What about the rest? My meaning was that a lot good things must be done for the entire society with some money of all. I just get a little mad with all the free market propaganda beeing done everywhere, knowing what I learned in the past few years of research.
"Resources are not scarce." - Yes they are. Scarcity, in economic terms, means that there are not unlimited resources. This is why infinite growth is unsustainable.
No, you had to spend the time to go into the forest and have the good fortune to find the berries, so those are the costs. Plus, the berries are of a limited quantity that the forest can only produce so quickly. By eating them you have reduced the availability of those berries, both for others and for yourself in the future.
You could lose opportunity costs, e.g the opportunity cost of selling them. Also you could possibly take the maxim to an extreme level and argue that their is the biological costs associated with the plant producing it since the berries were not created from nothing.
Not ALL corporations are bad, not even all the people that head bad corporations are bad. sometimes those lead people are just unaware that the business they own is doing harm. Not to say that there aren't some larger corps. that are made of pure evil...
Well there is an opportunity cost of the time it takes to pick the berries and the fact that you could have turned around and sold those berries, just to name a few.
First: Depends on who's side are you viewing. Second: I tend to agree. At least while we are stuck to this one planet. Third: I think people are equal but because majority doesn't realize it we keep stuck in this para-dime. Fifth: No idea about this and don't really care to be honest. Not sure what propaganda are you talking about. I am an advocate of freedom. Whether it be market or whatever.it is my personal belief that while I do my thing and don't interrupt you, you shouldn't interrupt me.
Finding berries in the forest, takes opportunity cost of your time, as well as any equipment (clothes, car, bike, gps etc.) that helped you get there. Your time is very valuable and it is your own! You could potentially be making money with the time that you took to gather the berries
First: The placement of resources does not mean that they can't be scarce. Second: Why not? Third: Capitalism is about freedom of choice. People are equal; the services that they provide are not. Fourth: you clearly didn't watch the video. Someone has to pay for anything. Fifth: so?
Is this clip for little kids or am I missing something? Or the americans don't realize something has to come from somewhere? I genuinely don't get the point of why this clip was made. Next thing on the list is to explain why grass grows upwards?
About capitalism. First: Resources are not scarce, the truth is that they are misplaced. Second: Infinite growth is just unsustainable. Third: Unequality is the most notable cause for the main problens of today. Fourth: There is a lot of free lunches in the most advanced countrys, like the scandinavians. Fifth: Just find out that you guys get money from a corporation and make videos about neoliberal stuff as it was a good thing. Beggining to see a pattern. /watch?v=uWSxzjyMNpU Unsubscribed.
"Be quiet kids! Don't sass me." Love it!
TANSTAFL was the hallmark of my first econ course in college.
I found some seeds...grew an apple tree, ate the apple for lunch. Free lunch
2:22 Ooh, those kids got roasted
As a philanthropist who makes all my donations in the form of handmade shoes, this video really resonated with me.

Chuck rockin the cargos like a boss
True, but the main point of a corporation is profit. The good guys doesn't matter in the stock market.

What if you found wild berries in the forest and ate them for lunch? That's free from every point of view isn't it?

Actually if something has value and you get it with out giving something of value then it's considered free
"Fourth: There is a lot of free lunches in the most advanced countrys, like the scandinavians."
Nope. Someone is still paying for those lunches.
"Be quiet kids, don't sass me" HILARIOUS!!
You pay in time and effort, and you probably could have sold them so there's opportunity cost too. Breastmilk, however, is free lunch for a baby.
You paid it in time and effort.
The bush made them for you, still someone/something paying for it.
And some animals just lost their lunch.
was that a toyota ad?
