Is a2179 is that I've been trying all day to repair my mac with accidental screen damage and I'm already out of oxygen. sorry for not paying the necessary attention, now, i saw that the macbook heatsink of your video is the same as one of the ones i have. the other is not flat as such, it has trenches. I am trying to explain in the best possible way. I saw something about the mod pad. do you think it is convenient?

      @@RadionYT I think they figured they don't get as hot so they put a less efficient cooling system...Lol but instead they throttle the cpu to maintain the temperatures.

      That's because it's soldered to the board and not replaceable.

    it suffered liquid damage but my macbook still worked, but when I changed the screen I noticed that the camera no longer worked. I suppose that the 3 flex cables that the screen carries, one is from the camera. I already mounted 2 screens and the camera still does not work. Do you know the component is the camera installed?

      @@ItsBinhRepaired I have. I forgot to mention that I took out one of the screens from a similar model/year and had tested the camera beforehand and it worked. When I installed the screens, I don't think I have damaged cables or any other component, but since this macbook had suffered liquid damage, I don't know if it could be some other component and I can't find much information. And I no longer have the other macbook and today I noticed that the camera does not work after several days of having installed it! 😭

    Hiya, I’m trying to disassemble this Mac model and I find myself in need of some smaller Torx bits. The smallest I currently own is T5. Which ones did you use? I heard you say T4 in this video but I’ve got another source telling me it’s T3.

    Do you ever use isopropyl alcohol when cleaning corrosive water damage on the logic boards? Working on the same model with water damage. Lots of corrosion everywhere.

      Yes, but usually not necessary. Actually vinegar works better to clean corrosion, but don't pour it all over the motherboard.

      Nope, credit cards have built in warranties that extend manufacturer warranties.

    Your videos are so great dude. I couldn't find a more comprehensive video on a MacBook teardown. You actually go through it step by step, giving tips for each situation you come across. Other TH-camrs are cutting it down to 3-4 minute videos.
    Just wish this was a full teardown all the way to the keyboard lol

      I think I might have one if you want. Keyboards aren't worth removing in the new MacBooks. They just rivet them in.

      The spill got into the keys, some even got into the power/fingerprint sensor key, so there's probably corrosion on the keyboard. What do you suggest I do if not remove the keyboard?

    Mate could you please help. My MacBook had a spillage , it all works fine except the camera is no longer detected, and the keyboard backlight no longer works. Any idea what could cause these two faults and is it fixable? Same model

      Try disabling auto brightness for the keyboard and might have to replace the screen or motherboard issue

      Likely since the camera is dead it can't detect the brightness to set

      There's no setting for auto brightness in the settings. It's really weird , everything works except the keyboard backlight and the camera. It passes diagnostics , but says there's no camera connected 😩

      This set is very high quality and can be used for a long time amzn.to/3c5DBgB there are cheaper sets that work, but there's more chance of stripping screws. I used a set like this for a long time with no issues, amzn.to/3cmmJ5B but the ifixit ones definitely are better quality.

XD Our brains are wired to look for shortcuts to quickly categorize things even if they are wrong sometimes, just like how with my fingernails you assumed possible guitarist. :) It's ok to admit we are human. :P
      Some probably see my fingernails and think I use them for drugs or for picking my nose or who knows what other stereotypes there are for long fingernails. All I know is a lot of people have said they gross them out, as if I'm scraping gunk out from under my nails and feeding it to them. Lol

      Once my nails get too long it becomes uncomfortable to type and that's when I trim them to about 1mm, but usually 2-3mm is the sweet spot for working on the computers.

    I spilled a bit of juice on my MacBook a couple of weeks back and I’m looking into repairing it myself. I just bought a MacBook repair tool kit so as soon as that comes in I’m going to attempt to break it down and see if I can figure out what’s going on and hopefully fix it. it seems that most of the issue is in the trackpad. If there is damage on the trackpad what should I be looking for, and how would I fix it?

    Thank you for video. I have the same device and it stopped working (No Power) and today I went to Apple and asked them for the information on the device. I don't care about the device. I just want the information on it. The technician told me I can't guarantee that I can return the parameters! I cannot do anything because the device is out of warranty. For the record, I have experience in the field of maintenance, but this is the first time for me to repair an Apple device.
    * Is there another way to retrieve the information?
    * Is it SSD or HDD built in with motherboard?

      @@ahmad230 does the trackpad work? Apple is an asshole and made a software link. If it detects an issue with the trackpad, it disables the keyboard.

      @@ItsBinhRepaired if I have liquid damage and the indicator isn’t red.. would you repair a MacBook Air 2020? No corrosion or damaged parts. It worked perfectly fine and I forgot to charge sooner so when I went to charge it, it wasn’t charging at all but worked perfectly fine after the liquid damage and before it ran out of battery

      They’re designed to break dawg. I accidentally lightly pushed it off my bed, it spun around so the screen faced the floor and hit my computer chair wheel. Impacted the entire screen. It only fell a foot.

      Just had one come into my shop for repair. Turns on but no display, client can log into it tho and you hear the chime when it boots up... Sounds like a ribbon cable or bad connection somewhere else....

      @@Christianrreyes you'll need a screw extractor like this amzn.to/3ttvIbR problem is, the metal shavings can short it out because it's a battery. Might want to take it to an expert.
