    I just don't want more people to move here because traffic has been getting insane over the last 15 years

    Hello there, I've lived here all my life, if you need any info or just want to know anything you may not find looking up research on just ask as I seen it all over the last 60 years. for the last 12 years Allentown has been trying to figure out a way to get Amtrak to pick-up passengers and run them to NYC and Philly as many attempts have failed at organizing a solution to do so, February of 2024 Scranton has broke ground at doing this. Yes, it's true Pennsylvania is known as the Keystone State as well as the Quaker State which means Oil state given in History Pennsylvania founded Oil before any other State in America, Not Texas as so many people believe. The Great Lehigh Valley is known as a Steel City because of Bethlehem Steel but what you may not know is that it's more known as a Railroading City as there is so much Railroading History here than any other state in the United States. the Lehigh Valley area alone had at one time 32 different Railroads all coming here between a 40 year gap. Great example of this is the 8th street bridge which most think was built for cars Nope Philidelphia Trolley lines built the 8th street bridge for their Trolley cars, there are still areas around that you can find and see in-person the old forgotten history as you just need to know where to look. "Eagle Point" gives you a great view of what's in the Lehigh Valley.

    We lived in flat, boring areas and also near the beaches of the Gulf Coast of Florida.. Eastern Pa. is well rounded and beautiful. Our place of choice...anytime.

    I was born and raised in Allentown and now live in southeast NJ. I would move back to Allentown in a heartbeat if I could.

    Why did you tell people to get into the Lehigh? People have been swept out to sea trying to swim in that river near Easton.

    I and my family moved to Orefield Pa 2 years and a few months ago from Long Island, NY. I asked a friend from Nazareth, what it's like here, like apple to pears? He said more like apples to pretzels.
    It's pretty here. But, for me it's been hard to get used to the pace of living. Especially work related, much slower. We came here for school for our son at Parkland High school. We are trying to take advantage of all the resources here. We have checked out many places in the valley, Camp Hill and Levittown. I miss the beaches and trains on Long Island,and the ease of getting to the City not the taxes.Will see. It's hard to negate the benefits of retiring here.

      Welcome to the area. I’m not a city dweller and never have been so i can’t speak to the transition out of a metropolis like LI. But it really is a great place to raise and educate kids. If you are in need of a realtor, please let me know. I’m happy to help.

    One addition, If you own an old car in PA, you only register it once. Also, no annual inspection. I left NY 11 years ago and I really like it here.

      Brian, this is good to know. While I’ve had “older” cars, maybe they just weren’t old enough!

      What? I have an old pickup truck 1990. It must be inspected & registered every year

      @@rubicondon04 Sorry, I meant to say a classic or antique car. I have a Model A and in NY it had to be registered and inspected every year. In PA you only do it once when you register it/buy it.

      @@brianmatthews9697 Ohh,, Yes Pennsylvania is really good about classic and antique automobiles. The other big thing is that I don't think was mentioned, retirement income, SS IRA or other pensions are not taxed for retired persons over age 62.

    We also have a local income tax that other states do not. And nearly the highest gas tax in the nation. Only public transportation is buses. No legal recreational marijuana either.

      @jobifretz5203-when I got my first job here after moving, I looked at my paycheck and said “what is LST (local service tax)”. My boss told me that it was the privilege of working in Easton! LOL

    Taxes and filthy Philadelphia are reasons not to move there!

    • @CynderellaSells
      @CynderellaSells  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @JohnCarter-We only visit Philly for the tourist attractions when we have visitors. It’s a nice one-day visit and then come back here to the Valley where life is quiet and the air is clean.
