These particular magnet pedals seems to resolve the well-known Megpad "clicking" design flaw. However, most riders who have tried magnets will tell you that its super annoying to "click in" and not have your feet right where you want them then having to "un-click" and try again. With true clip-ins, your feet are where they're supposed to be each time. With flats, at least its super easy to adjust your feet if you plant them in the wrong spot.
I've been riding clipless for over 25 years and decided to give these a try. After 5 rides I went back to my old Shimano Saint SPD pedals. When I need to I can get out of my clipless faster than these. With that being said my feet were slipping off in chucky stuff and I was getting side to side movement with technical climbs, but when I needed to disengage my left foot was still attached even at a 45 degree angle and I couldn't disengage. I had one of those slow-motion falls that I haven't experienced in years with my clipless. As far as the "sweet spot" it has to be absolutely prefect for full attachment. With my clipless no matter where my foot was on the pedal it most always falls into place. They are well built and maybe a good fit for someone coming from riding flats, They just weren't for me.
Mee too , man, mee to. I ride 30 years clipless , different systems . Another fact that I consider is , in addition to the quicker bailout option , is also the quicker engagement chance. I need it because it is always hard to start or continue on a steep technical section, when you fight with your clips to engage and you end up with a loose foot on metal.
The twist motion became second nature for me too but if you crash full speed you can't assume you'll be fast and precise enough, I almost pulled my leg out 20 yrs ago since I ride mostly flats. This looks interesting 🤔
So a year and a half later, are you still using these? More importantly are you running these on your race bikes or just your ebike? I'm tempted, though of course these pedals are seemingly made of pure unobtainium they're so hard to get. I kill Five 10s in 4 months and am a little tired of shin gashes, but pronate so have trouble getting out of clipless.
Someone needs to do a comparison review between these, magped, MagLock and J-pedal(maybe better for clipless riders) These obviously look the best though
Hey man, great review. I just for them this weekend and I've done like three rides through rocks, chunky, drops and so forth and they have been great. Notwithstanding, there are things to get used to since I've come from clipless. I transitioned from road to MTB and clipless was second nature for me so I don't have much experience with flats. Question for you, did you keep the k9s? I feel like replacing them with regular ones to have more freedom and move my foot around more. What do you think? Should I keep them for safety reasons ? I wear the hellcats. Thank you bro.
My only complaint so far (only had them a week) is, it seems difficult to place your foot in the same spot each time. Some sort of centering mechanism would be helpful, but overall I’m pleased with them. Shocked how well the magnet holds.
@@jamescardona9412 I took them off and went back to flats. My beef with them is solely around centering. I found myself having to pick my foot up and move them around a good bit until they were where I wanted them.
Im using magped enduro for over a month now, only negative i have is that the pins are not that sharp/grabby. How are the pins on these Hustle pedals??
@@Blake_Cherubini Sweet! Just glad to see more options for those who are scared on committing being fully clipped in. Will give these Hustle pedals a try in the future🤘 that swivelling magnet feature is interesting for sure.
I actually prefer flats on technical climbs and slower downhill tech, so I don't stress so much about getting out of my clips in time. You think these might be a good option for meeting in the middle on that?
I ride these pedals and I think they're great on bunny hops.. had one time that one foot slipped off, but the magnets are super strong north/south and if you're jumping straight up they stick well without scooping feet.
These seem enduro or downhill specific. Magnets are heavy & prolly not better than clips for mtb apps like trail or xc. I don't get riding flats on most trails in OH, but these seem spot on, if you ride gravity trails or parks. I will stick with my Crank Bros Double Shot and Mallet E's. My rides have too many climbs.
@@DavidFoundCo I live in the same area as these guys, These are very few enduro trails in OH-- Horn Hills maybe, where these guys ride. Most new gen riders don't really have many skills. Going fast and hitting jumps are only a small parts of the mountain bike game. Wear your heavy shoes proudly. Just stay out of the way on the climbs.
@@petedog9581 if you ride xc you’re delusional to follow their videos and their application. Most enduro racers will take safety with the weight penalty. If you’re ever in the front range mountains stay out of the way on the descents “xc rider”
@@DavidFoundCo I watch them bc they live in Ohio. I have ridden many times in CO, UT, AZ. I rode a trail bike and was buzzing the wheels of clowns on big rigs the whole time... ups and downs.
Well done bro. That was a really good review. I think another benefit would be that you no longer have to fondle around on your flats before you can finally find that "good enough" spot on the pedals. My TMACS took sometimes upward of 30 secs just to feel comfortable to pedal. How much do they weigh? I don't rem hearing anything about that. Good job man. Need to see some more riding from you too btw
You definitely don’t have to mess around with foot placement as much! They weigh more than traditional flats but honestly it doesn’t matter to me very much!
Exactly. Purchasing for placement mostly. I ran clipless and had way too many uphill tip overs. With flats I get bounced off and can’t reset quick enough.
I tried them but they weigh a ton and I don’t wanna sound like a weight weenie but my enduro rig is already 36 pounds but if you don’t care about weight they rip
I never wanted Magnet pedals until I watched this. As always you guys put out premium content

thanks I going to try them. Been trying to get use to the Crankbrothers Mallet DH
CB mallets are literally the hardest clipless pedals to get out of, only HTs or Times with the tension cranked may be harder to get out of.
came here out of curiosity, now I want the whole bike and go out biking. lol. That's not gonna happen in a couple of years but I'm subbing.
Thanks! Hopefully you can get out sooner!
@@Blake_Cherubini Hopefully sooner than later. Thanks man, best wishes for you
Great review! I might eventually get a pair but my Crankbrother Candys allow a lot of twisting motion.
Got these over magped because of this video
Same here, great video I’m getting a pair
Do you have an updated discount code that works?
I told you magnets are good, I’m getting use to the Magped’s, but I do think the ones you got have a better design.

Wow! These look pretty cool!
They are sick!!
Wonder how much metal debris sticks to magnet while riding and ease of cleaning post ride.
In the video I said I have had nothing stick to them in over a month!
