There was not a lot of difference between the 400 and 410. Now not much difference between 410 and 425. I'll just stick with my 400 🙂 thank you very much! Put the money toward lessons! 🤣
I've owned all the G drivers except the G425. I loved all of them; plus, my irons and hybrids are all G410s with the Alta Red shaft stock R shaft. I play 3 to 4 times a week and the clubs all held up except for the shaft on the G410 driver which developed a small crack. Ping sent me a new shaft, no charge, after 3 years of use! I loved the G410 so much that I even bought another driver for $299 recently. I'm 70 now and it appears that my club buying days are over (for now). Update: just bought an Odyssey putter (can't help it)
I picked up the Ping G425!! I left ping 5 years ago and struggle with cobra. I take it to the range. I'm hitting it straight 250 yards.i thought winter rust would give me problems. By far the easiest driver, I have ever hit!!
Same for me too. As Chris mentioned the G400 Max good enough for me and I too may consider changing the shaft rather than the driver head. Waiting for lock down to end so I can test the G425 irons and driver shafts.
Good shout, I was fitted for mine at the time. My swing speed has increased & I’ve been thinking about trying a lower loft if I can squeeze a few extra yards out!! Another fitting is worth a try! Overall the best driver I have owned so far.
I wait a year before buying a new driver as they are always on sale the following year. I don't need new technology every year to gain 1-3 yards. Great review.
Yep. I've watched enough of these types of videos that it seems Mike has potential to get higher numbers with the G410 with a higher swing speed and ball speed if he started messing around with shafts and dialing in the launch numbers...
@@dpdp971 So these are all "controlled" swings - which is to say he's probably swinging about 90% . He's not done a fair test giving up almost 2 mph club head speed to the G410 and the G425 still out performed the G410. It isn't a lot but with those 2 extra miles of club speed, the G425 maybe gets another 5-6 yards. Is 9-10 yards worth switching a driver for if you're already in the G410? No - and if I'm honest...if you're in the market for a new driver - best to buy the discounted G410 because it's the older model...take the money you saved and get a proper fitting so that you optimize the shaft to get the proper launch and spin characteristics.
Truth is... has anyone ever watched a club review video where the guy said the clubs suck? I watch Michael's videos and pretty much every club is "lovely," at some point in the review. The great thing about Ping, and why I have been playing them since the G10s is when they DO come out with a new product line every other year, it isn't dramatically different than the previous version. (see taylormade for that). I did upgrade my fairway woods to the 425 but still hit my G400 max driver. But if there wasn't a 425 product line, I would be fine hitting my previous ping fairway woods.
@@jcjbike The reality is that all the top companies do a ton of product testing at every phase of the development of a new piece of equipment. I used my son in laws Ping G driver and I have never hit such consistent drives for a high handicapper. So I bought a G410 Plus. But I still love his PIng G, I think it may have a smaller head might be what I like about it.

Prefered my G400 max than the G410 plus I now have. I did a comparison round with the G425 max (demo) and my Srixon Z785. Both were straight but the Srixon went further. G425 was returned to the pro shop and my credit card stayed in my wallet. G410 plus is up for sale.....
I currently have the G410 SFT. After some lessons and lots of practice I've corrected my slice significantly and have already got fit for and ordered the g425 max.
The Tensei Raw Orange shaft offered with the G425 is a big step up or improvement over the Tensei Orange offered with the G410. These two Shafts are not the same. The materials used and the stability in the 425 offering is much better. If the shaft works for you, I would make the switch from 410 to 425 simply for the shaft. A very good review on this was done by TXG.
I'm still playing with my G30...and hit it solid and straight. I have a 410 LST and found that any distance increase was more than overcome by the difficulty to hit it solid and direction loss. It sits in my locker. I'll probably try the 425 max but suspect it won't make a noticeable difference.
I have a Callaway X Hot driver and I decided to update with a newer Ping 410 or 425 driver. I went to a store and hit both the 410 and 425 and did not find any difference that would improve my game with the 425 which cost over $525. So I decided go to with the 410's and saved some money. I found out in the real world when I compared the Callaway x Hot and the much newer Ping 410 driver that the difference might be 5 yards at best. My old driver still is great and the latest and greatest we see on TH-cam I wonder .......how are they pushed to say how much better newer clubs are over the older ones.
I'm still gaming my 2011 Taylormade R11. Always curious whan the new clubs are like. When I go into the simulator at our pro shop, I am soon convinced that I am not missing out on anything. Maybe when I get older and my ball speed drops I'll start clutching at straws? Untill then, I'll use my cash to make some more during skins matches...
Lachlan & Jeanie Wolfe I was playing with a TM Superfast (2009) and liked it After a lot of thought a trade in day and a few quid offa birthday I splashed out £299 on a G400 max The difference on of centre hits is massive I don’t think it goes any further if you hit them both out of the middle but off centre is incredible If I’d known I would have changed in 2017 when it came out and paid the top money!!!
Interesting that a few have noticed slower swing speeds with the G425 as a result of a heavier swing weight. Head including the adaptor is ~207g which is around 10g heavier than competitors. It appears this additional weight has improved the forgiveness while sacrificing clubspeed/ball speed. I have the G410 LST, there doesn't appear to be enough of an overall improvement to justify spending more £££ on the the new model.
I took out a demo 425 to the range this week and compared with my current 410 and saw no difference between the two except for the sound which is less pleasant ( sounds more “tinny” like a can) with the 425 if you’re into acoustics. I’ll stay put for now at least with my driver.
Very happy with my G410 plus driver and don’t see me paying $900 Australian to upgrade. Also very happy with my G410 3 wood, which is also the best I’ve ever owned.
I have a Ping G410 , It has not been a great year for golf, my woods are G30 should I skip the G410 wood and go straight to the G425 woods and keep my G410 Driver?
I think my old Ping eye 2 wooden clubs need to go, just back into golf after quite a few years off. cant believe how much clubs have changed, I bought my Ping woods around 1985 for £95 each which was a lot of money then.
I use the original G30 so either of these should be a massive improvement. Only thing stopping me getting the G400 are the weight adjustments but the shaft is the engine of any driver so will look into that before deciding on which of these two beauties I get 😋
I game the G410 Plus. It replaced the G30 LST. In truth, I still play the G30 LST in practice rounds with the G410 and can't tell you which is better. Ping just makes solid golf clubs.
Got fitted for a ping g425 sft and traded in my g400 sft for it. On the range I much preferred the sound of the g400 sft, however the g425 sft has a tighter dispersion and a few more yards in it. This thing is a fairway finder. I also have a cobra king sz driver which sounds awesome and hits longer than the 425 sft. But again the the dispersion length and width are superior with the 425. I will continue to hold on to the cobra for now but will be gaming the ping this year.
Be interested to hear if Ping have finally solved the necks cracking, been an issue since the G30 and my own G410 has just gone back to Ping for replacement. Regarding forgiveness, has anyone else considered buying two weights that total that of the standard one and placing them in the draw and fade holes?
Love my G410 plus..but I would change it to get the 9°..have the 10. In the g410..move it down to try to create a 9 ° but it not the same..it more or less just changes the angle of the face?
I went from a Taylormade M-2 to the Ping G410. I went with the 410 because I saved over $100 from the 425. I love it and find it to be far more consistent with far less shot dispersion than the M2 was delivering. Judging from your video there is not much difference between 410 and 425. Both great clubs but saving $100 is always appealing. I do like theft settings. Which flat setting gives the latest setting?
With the 425, you had 4 line balls and then 2 on the Right edge of the fairway at 12-15 yards Right. With the 410, you had 1 line ball, 3 balls 7 yards Left, and 2 balls 12-15 yards Right. As for what Ping does, they make Stable Drivers - the 410 was very stable, the 425 is even more stable. I also love the tighter rear weight (L/R) placement for high MOI and face rotation control. The 425 is not longer - it's just better if you care about hitting fairways. If dopped the 425 Head down to 8 degrees it would be a perfect gamer
Ppl are forgetting the difference is in moi so for some ppl it will help others no reason to get the new model depends on how consistent you are with your driver
Nice Review! Since PING introduced the forged face it is just ungamable for me. I just don't know why but hate the sound it produces xD My old Driver PING i20 has just a super nice crunchy sound which I prefer over the new models. However, I currently game a Cobra Speedzone, which produces a superb sound!
I'm still playing the G400 mike, really like the look at address and to be honest I prefer the look of G400 to both G410 and G425. When or if I start struggling with the G400 I'll come and see you. Great review videos tho 👍
@@MichaelNewtonGolf Michael, what's your experience between the G400 and the max? I'm currently playing with the G25 and find most fairways, G25 supposed to be the same size as the max, but the max head looks larger.
Ping are saying improvement in off centre hits, did you get any info you can show for this like shots for each club with similar club speeds and strike locations? (I realise a big ask because you don't seem to miss the middle much !) Cheers!👍
Given the difference in head weight... should you really be using the same shaft ? Would you get a different result if you fit a different shaft for the 425 ?
Tensei AV Orange 65 in X-Stiff is mid-launch (but in G425 it seems to be the newer AV RAW model). With your high swing speed shouldn't you be fitted to the Aldila Rogue White 130 ?
Would not make the change have used the G410 plus for the past year. Not the longest driver I have hit tried Taylormade SIM, Callaway Mavrik both longer but no where as consistent as the G410
I think if you have the g400 or 410 probably not worth the upgrade but I am playing the G20 and have to decide if the 425 is worth spending more on vs the 410... have seen some other reviews saying the 425 is more forgiving and that's what I need. I am not worried about distance at all... just hitting fairways, or fist cut at the worst lol.
@@edr4973 I haven't bought a "current" model driver in many years. I usually buy the one from 2 years ago if I can find it in the proper specs and save myself a ton of $$. I bet if the review added the G400 (what I'm hitting now) the differences would be negligible.
But is it better than the 400 max that's the question we all know that the 410 was good but the plus did not out perform the 400 max which was for all types of players
Just bought the 410 for a great deal. Maybe it was just an off day, but I could not get used to how the 425 felt. Can’t explain it but I’m happy with what I got.
Not sure white and yellow was the right choice Michael Another comparison test where no increase in distance but you didn’t mention dispersion which is really what the comparison should have been about as that’s the claim of Ping
I feel like you were hitting the ball so consistently that it was hard to gauge the difference in forgiveness between these two clubs. Need to get a hacker to try the same test!
If you compare both models on a swing machine, you wouldn't see that much difference. How about giving it to someone who hit it all over the field, and see if there is any forgiveness difference?

I will continue to hold on to the cobra for now but will be gaming the ping this year.
Be interested to hear if Ping have finally solved the necks cracking, been an issue since the G30 and my own G410 has just gone back to Ping for replacement. Regarding forgiveness, has anyone else considered buying two weights that total that of the standard one and placing them in the draw and fade holes?
In my experience of fitting g410 never come across neck cracking........apart from my actual neck!! 🤪
I have the 410,, and still out drive many players. Next upgrade may be the stealth. I do love the ping brand
Don’t do it. I did, now I’m going back to ping. It was longer but way less straight. I’m a +1 for reference
I have the 410 Plus and without throwing money around the benefit isn't there for me. 425 does a very good job for sure.
Love my G410 plus..but I would change it to get the 9°..have the 10. In the g410..move it down to try to create a 9 ° but it not the same..it more or less just changes the angle of the face?
Please compare the LST Models
I went from a Taylormade M-2 to the Ping G410. I went with the 410 because I saved over $100 from the 425. I love it and find it to be far more consistent with far less shot dispersion than the M2 was delivering. Judging from your video there is not much difference between 410 and 425. Both great clubs but saving $100 is always appealing. I do like theft settings. Which flat setting gives the latest setting?
i did the same thing and just saved $100 with the 410 its Mint
Agree 👍
Can you still get fit for a Ping rapture? That might be in my price bracket lol
Ppl are forgetting the difference is in moi so for some ppl it will help others no reason to get the new model depends on how consistent you are with your driver
That’s what Ping are pushing with the G425......in all the technical info they sent me they hardly mention longer, more distance!
G425 looks nice but I love my G410 for overall performance...not clear on G425 distinctive improvement.
Silly to buy every new model Ping comes out with. Going from 400 to the 425. Basically skipping models
Might go have a hit see what the numbers are like, currently got the maverick SZ, on the good shots its a bomb, but the miss hits are rather punishing
I'd like to see a comparison to the G400 & the G425!!!
Coming very soon!
As a minor slicer of the ball is the Max on adjustable draw better than the SFT?
There’s more weight in the heel with the SFT over the Max with weight in heel position.
I currently game the 410 plus I don't see switching to the 425 yet!
🐊🏌️♂️🚩🇺🇸🦅👍
I'm still playing the G400 mike, really like the look at address and to be honest I prefer the look of G400 to both G410 and G425.
When or if I start struggling with the G400 I'll come and see you. Great review videos tho 👍
G400 great driver Martin, I’m still gaming it. Hope your well pal 👍
@@MichaelNewtonGolf Michael, what's your experience between the G400 and the max? I'm currently playing with the G25 and find most fairways, G25 supposed to be the same size as the max, but the max head looks larger.
Looking to replace my original Epic with the G425 as soon as lockdown is over!
Mate, I love your reviews! Best out there! Simple and you know what you are getting, none of this padding out bullshit! Keep up the great work!!!!!!!
🙌
I want one. I guess I will have to wait a bit.
Hi Michael, keep up the good work, great content as always. Will you be upgrading from the g400 to the g425??
That exact video will be coming soon 👍
Tensei AV Orange 65 in X-Stiff is mid-launch (but in G425 it seems to be the newer AV RAW model).
With your high swing speed shouldn't you be fitted to the Aldila Rogue White 130 ?
I prefer the lighter feel of the Tensei, it’s a preference
Snowing in Penrith?! Strewth cobber 😁
Does get cold at the foot of the mountains
Shiels same swing speed but average 2018 rpm. Interesting compared to your 2800. What is the reason for this? Shaft?
Number of things......angle of attack, spin loft, strike locations......
Beard.
I use a G30. Would you expect much difference with that?
Would not make the change have used the G410 plus for the past year. Not the longest driver I have hit tried Taylormade SIM, Callaway Mavrik both longer but no where as consistent as the G410
I'd kill to average 280 carry on my driver tee shots.
G400 vs G425 coming soon
What’s the expected RRP difference between the two expected to be Mike?
I don’t know to be honest, I’m guessing the same
Is Ping dropping the i series?
I am shocked at how much the retailers try to get for old clubs.
If you can get the same distance with more forgiveness, then it's a better club!
Very true 👍
I will stay with my G410, not enough difference to justify the cost.
Same here. I love the 410. I have a hard time justifying $500 for marginal increases. I plan on keeping the 410 in the bag for another 2 seasons.
Hey, will the G410 drop in price since the G425 just released?
Ping won’t drop the price but retailers who still have stock probably will
@@MichaelNewtonGolf Ok thanks.
Not sure white and yellow was the right choice Michael
Another comparison test where no increase in distance but you didn’t mention dispersion which is really what the comparison should have been about as that’s the claim of Ping
?
G425 is more consistent in spin.
Your data wasn’t accurate. The 410 had a stat of 280.9 carry and 280.9 total. On the simulator that’s not really possible.
Oh must have had a little blip on that shot. TBF carry distance for me is most important
I cant stand the lumps and bumps on top why not just have them clean like the 3w ping max they look ridiculous
425 is louder for sure pingish
I feel like you were hitting the ball so consistently that it was hard to gauge the difference in forgiveness between these two clubs. Need to get a hacker to try the same test!
yea, he needs to let me try them I can truly test any club's forgiveness. Although even the most forgiving clubs so far seem to give up on me.
Its all in the head but i put my money on the 425.
Can you please use a slower swing and review most of us have 90 to 96 mile per hour swing speed
It’s my speed. Can’t slow down as won’t move the same.....poor reflection.
I will stay with the G410 Plus. Not enough difference to justify spending the money.
If you compare both models on a swing machine, you wouldn't see that much difference. How about giving it to someone who hit it all over the field, and see if there is any forgiveness difference?
