Thank you very much for these videos! They are well done and very helpful! I have a question regarding the budget and I am wondering if you can help me with it. I need to use two engineering software packages to do the necessary research for NIH SBIR phase 1 grant. The softwares are COMSOL and MATLAB. To get those softwares, I have to pay the licensing fee for at least 1 year. They cost few thousands dollar each. I am not sure if I should include them in direct cost, or indirect cost. Could you please share your experience with purchasing software licenses to do scientific research for the NIH SBIR phase 1 project?

Great question! If the software are needed to help carry out your proposed R&D efforts, I would consider them to be a direct cost!

Got it, thank you very much! Can we say the same thing about lab equipment? I hear that if a lab equipment is below 5k you can purchase them by fund available through indirect costs and for lab equipment above 5k you have to get permissions to get them. Maybe you can make a video about these kind of questions. You explain them very well. Thank you again!

I hope this message finds you well. I would like to ask for your guidance. I recently received an invitation to submit a formal proposal for my pitch research in SBIR-NSF, which focuses on developing a pharmaceutical Ab for cancer therapy and ELISA test. As someone with experience in the field, I would greatly appreciate any recommendations or insights you may have on this topic. Thank you for your time and consideration.
