Had my Sx for 2 weeks. Drove a loaded Grand Cherokee. I knew what I was getting and was ok with it. I enjoy driving it. Love the gas mileage. Once I got used to the brake peddle, I actually liked it. (Oh, I also owned a Miata in my younger years.). I needed AWD for my location and a lower roof for loading my kayak and/or canoe alone. I know I would never find a vehicle that would be all things for me. This is a compromise that an aging, retired, short and fixed income lady can live with!
Kathy Domokos Congratulations, I think that it is one of the most compelling new sub compact SUVs, the Mazda’s are nice but the cx30 is too small and under powered, this will look good for a decade and has an ageless design, what color did you get? Is this your first time driving a dual clutch they are a bit different, Kias are known to be very reliable and you do have the ten-year hundred thousand mile warranty but if they offer you an extended warranty after that it really is worth it because the dual clutch transmissions are a lot of money to replace, I’m not saying that they arent reliable but they have a lot more parts than a regular transmission, clutches and such, And they do require more maintenance, I don’t know what the service manual says but definitely get the fluid changed every 60,000 miles, enjoy

However, my driving ‘style’ is a committed be-kind-to-the-car approach! Don’t know if that will help, but I will surely try and I will be attentive. Thanks for the heads-up, Nick. So far I am enjoying it like crazy. It is way more like a Miata than a Jeep!
Kathy Domokos My pleasure, and what a beautiful color, dual clutches are awesome if you know what to expect, fast shifts and a little jerkiness, it makes a slow car like a Ford focus or Ford fiesta feel fast, so the steltos must feel downright quick especially when the turbo kicks. I still don’t see too many of them on the road which is good for the owners, I hope you have many years of fun reliable motoring, hope you stay safe and sane in these crazy times

One without the $700 sunroof and $260 puddle lights, so living in the hot desert, may be the better choice than the sunroof/puddle lights one. Curious to know more about how best to drive with a DCT.
@@dwtubeyou I am a bit of a miser (obviously...), so I don’t keep mine in sport mode. What I have heard and haven’t been able to confirm due to snow (sigh) is that the DCT works smoothly and effectively in sport, and less so in other modes. I just don’t expect it to be sporty in normal and smart mode. But, tell ya what...need to move out around something pokey?? No matter the mode, get on it and hang on! Also, now that we HAVE snow, it is a dream in the deep stuff. I was concerned. I am not now.
Bought one of these in FWD 'S' trim with standard engine back in Feb., and love it. Traded in my Soul because this has better cargo space (can fit full golf bag with all seats in place). Got just over 36 mpg with my last tank of gas in mixed driving. Doesn't ride quite as well as my wife's Crosstrek, but I find it very comfortable to sit in. Has all the safety features I really care about, though the higher trims have more. Would definitely recommend over anything in this class, especially given the cargo and interior space.
Just bought a brand new Seltos SX Turbo white with black roof and LOVE IT! I disagree with your comment on the ac since I have to close my vents because I get too cold. My wife and daughter also complain about how cold the car gets! I wish the SX T came with the HUD and vented seats like the Canadian version but that's me nitpicking I guess.
At this point I'd say that the Seltos leads the pack . . . as for competition, I am not a fan of the Crosstrek, Trailblazer or the Renegade, and the HR-V has too many issued to offset it's good points. The CX-30 and the Kona are the ones I keep looking back at, and I'd be more likely to consider the Encore GX if it wasn't for the I3 and a few other issues.
I own a 22 seltos and I love it... Couple of things...I keep watching these reviews talk about how the dual clutch is sloppy at low speeds...this is not true...when it's Iow speeds on smart mode it does shift a lil different than you may be use to at low gears because its considered Eco Mode and it's trying to save gas...I got use to it in one day and if ya really don't like it you can switch to normal or the awesome sport mode... Usually sport mode on vehicles didn't really do much for me but the sport mode on my sx turbo is absolutely fun to drive... Second...this guy in the video said that the design for the rims was not his taste and the speakers bass wasnt that great and the design for the speakers wasn't something he might like in 7 to 10 years...lol Well in 7 to 10 years there's a lot of designs in vehicles that get old...I really laughed when he said something so stupid As for the bass I have no idea what he's talking about my bass is amazing and even friends have commented on how good it sounds As for the rims...I love the design and the two colors with the inner grey color against the metal chrome look
I also own the 22 SX Turbo and your 100% right, you feel the variations in shifting in ECO mode, Normal and sport modes almost eliminate it. The transmission also smoothes out significantly after about 1000 km, it’s almost night and day how different it feels. Kia also says that it needs a break in period, most the reviewers test out newer vehicles that haven’t been broken into yet. Like you I find the speakers very good. Multiple family members and friends have commented on how good it sounds. I think it’s more than fine for a car, especially in this segment. I don’t put much weight into comments made about stylistic components, everyone has their own preference and I really like the look of the wheels and the speakers so to each their own. I’ve owned the car for a month and a half and so far I absolutely love it. It’s been amazing in our harsh winter, it’s been so fun to drive and I haven’t even explored all of the features yet.

I can't say I agree at all with your assessment of the A/C. I own an SX myself and in the hottest days this year so far it performs well. So well in fact that I keep the climate control at upwards of 78 because any lower than that and I feel like it cools more than necessary.
Strange critique on the air conditioning. The weather display on your tester says 78 deg F. I have an SX and it's more than capable of handling 95 deg F and 95% humidity days of Florida. There may be something wrong with your test unit or the operator.
I really like this cross-over and the Buick Encore GX that you also reviewed. Out of the two, which would you say is the better riding and quieter sub-compact SUV? Thanks for the review, you're really good.
In terms of ride quality, I'd give it to Buick all day long. On the noise front, Kia has the edge, largely due to the Encore GX's buzzy engine. The Seltos is a far better value, too.
Dan - I’m quite surprised to see that we seem to get some features that the US misses out on. I’ve ordered my GT Line. Now I have to wait and hope that Kia are better than Toyota was with demand for the new Rav4.
Keiran - it’s a bit odd yes. However, having watched a load of overseas Seltos videos (especially North American market), I do notice that you seem to have more options (trim levels) available to you. I probably wouldn’t have opted for the top trim GT line if I could get LED lights (a must have on my list) on a slightly lower spec. I think I’d still want the 1.6L turbo AWD though. In Korea they have more interior options too that I would definitely have liked to select from if there was a choice. And I think you have more colour options in North America. I guess Kia are saving those options for later releases.
Yes, they probably are more expensive. Skoda do something similar with their models downunder in that the base models are better optioned than the base models in Europe. As for tastes, I’m not sure I’m qualified to answer that but compared to the US market, I think there is less demand for large vehicles. For example, the Telluride isn’t even an option to buy here. The Sorento (and Santa Fe from Hyundai) are the largest models in the SUV department from the Koreans. I’m not including the Kia Carnival though which we do have and which is large. I think Kia are not releasing the new K5/Optima in our market which is a bit of a shame. It looks like a good vehicle. One thing that is happening here is a sort of market consolidation. Lots of makes that the US and Europe have access to just aren’t available here and many that are don’t have the after sales support that I’d like because the presence and sales figures for many brands just isn’t there.
Should consider the EX, if you are not looking for a DCT Turbo. The IVT(CVT) was good enough for what I need it to do. Skip the base LX or S Trim unless you want to save a little more without the need for all the bang for the buck features. I was torn between a S Turbo and EX, at the end of the day Turbo is really fun to drive, but all the extra features in the EX outweigh the turbo. To each their own. For the budget minded, EX and S Turbo maybe the way to go if you not want to have it fully deck out like the SX.
To each his own, but as a long time user of Bose Pro sound gear, I seriously doubt that the Bose system in this car is lacking anything as this guy says. Sorry dude, but you know what they say about opinions.
We ended up going with Seltos, as we soon realised our friends have legs which will need to fit in the back... apparently Mazda had not considered this :( shame because the front of the CX30 was very cosy!

I test drove a base Seltos that had been sitting in the sun and the heat coming off the top of the dashboard was stifling. Problem: cheap plastic seemingly designed to radiate heat. Answer: a dash mat.
KIA Seltos rear Aircon vent blowing warm air when Aircon temperature control is set at 25 degree celsius when outside temperature is much higher than 25, their service work shop claimed that is normal. During the visit on 26 Apr 2021, inspection was carried out on the vehicle’s Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning System; the values such as Ambient Temperature Sensor, Evaporator Temperature Sensor, photo sensor, In-car air temperature sensor and other related values that maintain the operation of the climatic air-conditioning system. We did not find any abnormalities in the values and all sensors and actuators are functioning normally and a diagnostic scan with the manufacturer’s diagnostic scanner did not report any diagnostic trouble codes. These data was also inspected and compared to 2 other similar vehicles and the performance was found to be similar and thus the vehicle’s air-conditioning system was judged to be operating normally. That's radiculous and sily.
6:48 I disagree about the Bose audio system. It might not impress audiophiles, but I think it's quite good for a factory installed audio system. That said, I'm comparing it to the Bose audio system in our old 2011 Nissan Rouge SL. Now that Bose system sucked and had awful highs and lows. I agree about the speaker covers though. They don't suit the otherwise sleek interior design.

I do think it is really unfortunate and ridiculous that you can’t get the two-tone color With the sunroof, Kia makes you choose between getting a black or white roof and any color without a sunroof or with the sunroof and no two-tone, that is ridiculous, Also panoramic roof would be ideal, Hyundai and Kia Have been doing panoramic roof’s in a lot of their cheaper economy cars/sedans and SUVs for over a decade but they introduce this bad ass new sub compact crossover with a small sunroof 😿
Your review isn't based on what it important: Reliability! After a yr owning a Seltos, it leaked oil, then engine knocked, alarm lights kept going on. Endless trips to the dealer for "oil consumption testing." a BS euphemism for "it's a new car that leaks oil and we don't know why." This model is part of a huge Kia recall for faulty engines that could result in fires. We were told that the engine needs to be replaced but it would take several months to get one from somewhere. Plus, there was no guarantee that the new engine wouldn't also have the recall malfunction. WTF! We bought this as our cheap daily transportation, but it's been a huge headache. We sold back to the dealer last week to just get out of the endless swirl. Should have waited for the Toyota RAV4 to be restocked instead of buying the Seltos. Have had 3 Toyota Camry's - boring, but NEVER have repair issues! At the end of the day, it's just transportation, so it needs to ......transport, not end up stuck in a repair shop.
drea177cha5er That’s a hard choice, the cx30 is much smaller and under powered, the GLA 250 is not going to be as reliable and more expensive to maintain and is also small, the cx30 Has a nicer interior, I would say drive them all but if you bought this new Kias warranty is unmatched. Also the Seltos sx turbo hit 60 and 6.6 seconds, faster than the GLA 250, and the CX 30, I used to work at a Mercedes dealership and the GLA 250 is not reliable, the turbo engine nor the dual clutch, if you do choose that make sure you buy CPO.
CX30 has very tight rear seats, ok for 2 in back, but would be a squeeze for 3. Feels a bit like a cave in the back to be honest. Seltos much more room in the back by comparison.
paul zukerberg SX Turbo is exactly 87% more fun and enjoyable to drive than the S. Enjoy the turbo, the world will end on its own one day no matter what we do. When the sun goes, we all go with it.
Your personal driving habits, tire pressure, and maintenance will get you close to that 13% too. Drive what make sense for you but the SX is the one for me for the equipment it has and horsepower it makes.
The Seltos kicks Kona's butt. Hands down. So much more spacious & more cargo room. & better infotainment. Just bought a Seltos EX Premium & it's awesome. Kona looks like a little hatchback.
So why does the front end look like 2 different front ends put together... like one set of headlights and grille is sitting atop another set of headlights and grille from another vehicle... like they just combined 2 different vehicles front ends and set one on top of the other one... a 2 Tier Front End... lol
Hello everyone ...I recently purchased a 2021 Kia Seltos for my daughter who live 300 miles away from me. My piece of mind . The car broke down with 2155 miles on it and almost caused a serious accident with my grandchildren in the car. The transmission froze and the car stopped dead in a left turn. The car was towed to fred bean kia later that day and the dealership told my daughter there was nothing they can do for her for 5 days ...go and rent a car....next day I was down there checking on the brand new car I bought for my daughter. Dealer told me yes a problem car they have 2 the same model waiting on motors...........Im still fighting with Kia to get my money back ......huge lemon
No way I'd buy a turbo. Charged GDI gas engine. I bet it barely makes it to 100K mikes before the engine dies. That is way too much stress on a small 1.6L motor. No way you can drive it for the long run.
Kias are like the top rated in JD power behind Lexus and above Porsche/Audi/Mercedes and others in initial quality, even Cheap Kia Elantras have a well put together interior, you might wanna update your references and actually check out one of these cars before you comment

The totally redesigned Sorento is at dealerships now and the redesigned Sportage will release later this year.
Kinda wish Kia would but the Soul GT's steering wheel inside.
I test drove them all but eventually bought the Kia Seltos i am happy with my choice.

6:48 I disagree about the Bose audio system. It might not impress audiophiles, but I think it's quite good for a factory installed audio system. That said, I'm comparing it to the Bose audio system in our old 2011 Nissan Rouge SL. Now that Bose system sucked and had awful highs and lows. I agree about the speaker covers though. They don't suit the otherwise sleek interior design.

I do think it is really unfortunate and ridiculous that you can’t get the two-tone color With the sunroof, Kia makes you choose between getting a black or white roof and any color without a sunroof or with the sunroof and no two-tone, that is ridiculous, Also panoramic roof would be ideal, Hyundai and Kia Have been doing panoramic roof’s in a lot of their cheaper economy cars/sedans and SUVs for over a decade but they introduce this bad ass new sub compact crossover with a small sunroof 😿

Your review isn't based on what it important: Reliability! After a yr owning a Seltos, it leaked oil, then engine knocked, alarm lights kept going on. Endless trips to the dealer for "oil consumption testing." a BS euphemism for "it's a new car that leaks oil and we don't know why." This model is part of a huge Kia recall for faulty engines that could result in fires. We were told that the engine needs to be replaced but it would take several months to get one from somewhere. Plus, there was no guarantee that the new engine wouldn't also have the recall malfunction. WTF! We bought this as our cheap daily transportation, but it's been a huge headache. We sold back to the dealer last week to just get out of the endless swirl. Should have waited for the Toyota RAV4 to be restocked instead of buying the Seltos. Have had 3 Toyota Camry's - boring, but NEVER have repair issues! At the end of the day, it's just transportation, so it needs to ......transport, not end up stuck in a repair shop.

drea177cha5er That’s a hard choice, the cx30 is much smaller and under powered, the GLA 250 is not going to be as reliable and more expensive to maintain and is also small, the cx30 Has a nicer interior, I would say drive them all but if you bought this new Kias warranty is unmatched. Also the Seltos sx turbo hit 60 and 6.6 seconds, faster than the GLA 250, and the CX 30, I used to work at a Mercedes dealership and the GLA 250 is not reliable, the turbo engine nor the dual clutch, if you do choose that make sure you buy CPO.
CX30 has very tight rear seats, ok for 2 in back, but would be a squeeze for 3. Feels a bit like a cave in the back to be honest. Seltos much more room in the back by comparison.

Your personal driving habits, tire pressure, and maintenance will get you close to that 13% too. Drive what make sense for you but the SX is the one for me for the equipment it has and horsepower it makes.

My wife just bought a 2021 Kona and she LOVES it. Better looking than the Steltos and pretty much the same tech-GO HYUNDAI!

The Seltos kicks Kona's butt. Hands down. So much more spacious & more cargo room. & better infotainment. Just bought a Seltos EX Premium & it's awesome. Kona looks like a little hatchback.

Hello everyone ...I recently purchased a 2021 Kia Seltos for my daughter who live 300 miles away from me. My piece of mind . The car broke down with 2155 miles on it and almost caused a serious accident with my grandchildren in the car. The transmission froze and the car stopped dead in a left turn. The car was towed to fred bean kia later that day and the dealership told my daughter there was nothing they can do for her for 5 days ...go and rent a car....next day I was down there checking on the brand new car I bought for my daughter. Dealer told me yes a problem car they have 2 the same model waiting on motors...........Im still fighting with Kia to get my money back ......huge lemon
No way I'd buy a turbo. Charged GDI gas engine. I bet it barely makes it to 100K mikes before the engine dies. That is way too much stress on a small 1.6L motor. No way you can drive it for the long run.

Kias are like the top rated in JD power behind Lexus and above Porsche/Audi/Mercedes and others in initial quality, even Cheap Kia Elantras have a well put together interior, you might wanna update your references and actually check out one of these cars before you comment
