As Salaamu Alaikum! Thank you for sharing. I have been traveling in and out of Africa for nearly 25 years. My wife is Gambian. I just returned back to the USA from Senegal about 3 weeks ago. As one of the commenters already said, Africa is a continent of more 50 countries. I would suggest that you travel to more than one and decide what works best for you. Not everybody will have the same experiences, so find out what works best for you. And if you move to Africa or wherever do it with a purpose. Know that Africa like any place else will show you Good, Bad and Ugly. Every place will have it's ups and downs. Remember the Maze song "Joy and Pain" is like "Sunshine And Rain". From time to time life's challenges will be overwhelming - esp when you are setting up a new life in a new place - even in the Motherland the temptation to run back can be great. Acknowledge our feelings - exercise self love, patience and compassion. Advise and support yourself as you would a dear and cherished friend. Take a break - switch things up - do something fun and assess if it's still what you really want. If it is then get back to the mission. We black folk need to remember that it's ok to be human - we can be very hard on ourselves.
Thank you for that video. I haven’t moved yet to the continent, but I plan to and I will remember the points you mentioned. I know it won’t be a cake walk, but I am determined to make it work and create my legacy and generational wealth. So, I look forward to the challenge and what Mother Africa has for me. I plan to play my part on the continent and fulfill my purpose. Again, thank you and continue to persevere. God bless you both.
Do U, however, I would git them Chirrens into Higher Education to expand their ability to be part of the much needed changes to the Gambia's social, political, economic and civic trajectory! Africa doesn't need another real estate agent, tour guide, or model/marketing person or any of those other soft jobs that get added onto the economy as the society grows into those stages. Engineers, Agriculturist, Master Builders, Teachers, etc. The Diaspora can be VALUE ADDED!
YES ,you are so right , to learn the Gambia get out into the community meet the people. Whenever I go to Gambia, I stay with my African family in the compounds in different towns or the local travel lodges within the community. It’s the best experience ever. We've had trying times on business ventures we have done and I must say firsthand like SJM said the lack of convenience. However it teaches us more patience as individuals. The systems put in place are slow as a turtle. But the silver lining is waking up amongst our own ppl, free from oppression outweigh these other inconveniences that can be fixed over time. ✊🏾🇬🇲
This was an interesting video. I've considered moving to the continent but can right now. My frustration is that people don't do enough videos of what it's really like and the exact frustrations they face except perhaps the internet, the power outages, the break-ins, finances. What would make someone want to leave?

you can have to figure that out. and if you don't have a stream of income from the US most times it's not going to work. If you can figure out how to work on the road you can do it.
You would have to start some passive income streams for eg. Buy real estate and rent them out and use the rental income, sell on Amazon FBA, Invest in stocks and/or Crypto, or Forex trading, open an online businesses, teach online, other online jobs on fiverr or click Bank or other online jobs like copyrighting, buy African items and ship to UK or USA to sell or vice versa, start a business in Africa (Restaurant, Airbnb, farming, school, hospital or healthcenter, etc), start a business in USA or UK and use the profits but you would need to hire a trust worthy manager etc plenty of ways dear.....check out other diasporans and see what they are doing. Ask them too, some are very happy to share ideas. Good luck.
I am moving to Queretaro, Mexico on November 2. I have always kept a Chicago, Oak Park, and Waukegan as my bases, but I did live in Acapulco as a second home. I'm a bonifide pan-African Garveyite I'm sticking it out with MommaLand we going to bring her & melination back to glory and God/universe bestowed her on us to sustain us through good and bad times. Im going to build. I expecting it to be frontier if I want something I have to bring, make, build not complain
Yes indeed 🥰 Thank you❤️❤️
It Is Far Better To Live Under A Tree In Anywhere Africa Than A Penthouse In NY, London, Paris, Beverly Hills etc...Peace Be With You

You keeping it real❤️❤️
From time to time life's challenges will be overwhelming - esp when you are setting up a new life in a new place - even in the Motherland the temptation to run back can be great. Acknowledge our feelings - exercise self love, patience and compassion. Advise and support yourself as you would a dear and cherished friend. Take a break - switch things up - do something fun and assess if it's still what you really want. If it is then get back to the mission. We black folk need to remember that it's ok to be human - we can be very hard on ourselves.
❤️❤️
This brother looks just like Steve Harvey lol... Great video!! I'm moving to Africa in 2 years, I hope to meet you guys when I get there...
Brilliant insight! Thanks
Thank you ❤️💕❤️
Do U, however, I would git them Chirrens into Higher Education to expand their ability to be part of the much needed changes to the Gambia's social, political, economic and civic trajectory!
I’ve never stayed in the high end hotels. But they are available but you don’t get the experience you’ve been expecting or looking for. THANKS BAG FAMILY💪🏾❤️💪🏾
I love this !
Just remember that the more of a system they have in place the more freedom they also take away at the same time
Thank you for this so true ❤️❤️❤️
Love this video! Taking your advice, gettin with the program. We are the key to our success here. Yall "THE REA"best.
This was an interesting video. I've considered moving to the continent but can right now. My frustration is that people don't do enough videos of what it's really like and the exact frustrations they face except perhaps the internet, the power outages, the break-ins, finances. What would make someone want to leave?
This has priceless value for me Mr. and Ms. Cynthia. I am on my way over in December I intend to be landing in Sierra Leone and eventually I will visit The Gambia.
Sierra leone is my birth home and I hope you enjoy it.
Keep trucking family ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
I left the U.S and moved to Merida Mexico one of the safest places in Northern America , 2 hours from the U.S, hot and cold water, stable electricity, good infrastructure, safety,no police brutality, good health care, Good WiFi and internet and the cost of living is reasonable. Mexico is first class. Costco,Walmart,Sams.
Now that’s what I’m talking about. Not moving to suffer. Some parts of Africa Sound stressful as hell!!!
@Quentin ...how did u pick out that place to live?
@@Gaia007 Why leave stress to stress all over again??
@@waynesalmon5602 I guess it depends on your situation. I wouldn’t move or stay in africa to endure home invasions, robbery, zero convenience, no legal process to attempt to rectify or discourage crimes. It’s almost like the wild wild west. I watched the video of Shawnte when they broke in while she was home. That’s traumatic. You can’t have firearms there. Some countries in Africa have a ways to go to develop. For me.
@@waynesalmon5602 I agree. I applaud the diaspora that are making it work but I am not willing to endure all of the hardships, inconvenience, corruption, lack of infrastructure and lack of access to medical resources.
That's how I felt about moving to Colorado from Connecticut, it's a different country out here and I live in a somewhat rural area, and I experienced cultural shock and homesickness I started going out meeting people, found jobs and now I work and make pretty good money compared to what I made back home and enjoying the beautiful mountains. It took I would say a year for me to get acclimated to this place. Your videos give me encouragement.
Folks I know exactly what you are talking about, People in America live on credit cards. I live in Florida, my house was bought cash, but it's amazing how much it still cost to live in FL, car ins, for 2 cars, property taxes, lights, water food, homeowner ins, enough to make you worry, but thank God He is able. I may not move to Africa but when I retire next year I am gone. Mexico is much cheaper for me to live in than America. You guys did the right thing, you are not missing anything in America!
The Stress Of America Is Too Much. I'll Take My Stand Here. Crazy As Most People Are. Afrika Is My Home.
I just want to say, thank you, thank you, thank you. You're both so inspirational!
I hope Gambia treats you well, you certainly deserve piece and harmony in the mother land. You have served your time in the divided States. I wish you never live, love will make you stay , the rest you shall over come.
Now I really love and appreciate you guys. You are focused, goal oriented
and your understanding of the struggles in Afrika. I respect your dedication to making it in the motherland. God bless and may your dreams come true in Afrika. Watching frm Jamaica.
I'm in prep mode for my journey back to where I was taken from, my ancestral footsteps that can be traced back to creation my true home from East to West, from North to South, unlike America which is confined to only four walls that could be violently breached for no reason and be killed in your own bed, it's absurd for us captive Africans diaspora to refer to America as home!.... I'm mad as hell and I just not taking no more, sorry fam that's how I feel right now.
Thank you for this video of encouragement and resilience. Rich African-America bring your wealth to African countries and create towns or cities with other expats and local brothers and sisters.
You're good people. Keep it up. Your situation will become better with time.
Lesson learnt " remembering what I have to go back into." Well said Mr. Ricky aka SD we can make it work in our beautiful Motherland AFRICA! Be OPEN MINDED and tap into your ENTREPRENEURAL spirit! You will FINE! 🙂🙂🙂🙂
I came and went back because my income could not support a long term stay. How can I get an income that can support global.
you can have to figure that out. and if you don't have a stream of income from the US most times it's not going to work.
Good luck.
@@AfroCari.Naturals Thank you
Thank you again for your wisdom and knowledge. It's always appreciated. Much blessings.
I am moving to Queretaro, Mexico on November 2. I have always kept a Chicago, Oak Park, and Waukegan as my bases, but I did live in Acapulco as a second home. The earthquakes and hurricanes were the deal breakers. Acapulco will always be the most beautiful city, that I have ever visited, and the people were super nice. USA was the most dangerous for me, and I was born here in 1942, and have been to all 50 states and around the world, on my own dime. It is better to give, than to receive, and my ancestors told me never beg for money, but WORK and help non beggars help themselves.
Thank you so much for your intelligent videos.
Not having a reason to be angry all of the time… that’s what I want too SJM. ✊🏾
Hey, family you telling the truth and nothing but the truth
Every thing isn't for everyone. Happy you're enjoying your stay, prosper, health and wealth to you all.
Is there anything you can do to benefit/profit from the rainy season?
You guys made a very good point thank you for coming out and telling us your your experience s
You're right about your mind not being able to contract after it expands. I remember spending a couple months in Switzerland and coming back to America. It was so depressing how angry and evil people were when I came back here. I didn't notice these things until I spent time away from this country. Lol
They are talking about Afrikan countries. We know youre irritated about that and lowkey tryna throw shade. You aint slick. 😱👀
@@bintiyangu Ain't nobody trying to throw shade dumbass. They mentioned the military and how once they left AMERICA and experienced a different quality of life OUTSIDE OF AMERICA, they couldn't go back to that old American lifestyle. If you are not aware, people in the military are shipped to different countries AROUND THE WORLD. Yes they are talking about Africa, but I have never been to Africa but I still understand their "expanded mindset" reference when leaving America. Stop starting shit and understand what I'm saying before commenting.

Hey there Rick and Cynthia. I am on a countdown.
I visited The Gambia in 2001. My biggest regret was moving back to the States. How I long to return.
I love The Gambia and I see my adpoted home country through many of your videos.
Stay strong and enjoy your freedom!
Thanks you family very inspirational talk .. Peace of mind and being one with nature matters..you are doing great being in control not being systemic control.. I am fired up joining you soon
During my stay in the military a lot of guys and gals didn’t venture no more than 5 miles from a base and always wondered during the weekend where I go . I take my money and ride further out and deal with the people. Most of the time everything except housing was free. Never travel alone exploring towns & villages.
I love these kinds of videos where black family units try to encourage us
Visit another African country for awhile to clear your mind. Love this video.🥰
Yes guys. Love u all! See u in Nov.
Safe journey ❤️ you2 🥰
Every where is hard but once u settle in Africa all is good.
Great advice! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, topic made us think about our situation
You also have to look at if you are over 40 they will discriminate against your age also. Preparation is always the best way to endure. The main reason I want to leave the states is the discrimination. You should have a plan to be successful . You have to work for it. You will have to create work and income. Rick as a educated black man here you hit that shit spot on .
Great information to pep up those who feel like leaving and those who may have second thoughts on Going..
YOU BOTH LOOK YOUNGER EVERYDAY ...
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
I wouldn't mind living in Africa but I cannot do without electricity. I use a cpap. I have to have air.
Your video is priceless. Thank you for the info
Hello i have been here 1year and i love my freedom but i am a DAV and i love it here. I left America because of my Religion I am a white Muslim and i was tire of how American believe and the racism…. Yes you are right this the best place to live no stress I feel more Comfortable here than any place i have been the best decision i have made thank for your video
Hey yall videos audio has always been that way. ...it just gets louder after about 10 seconds
Thank you guys for the information greatly appreciated peace ✌️
At the end of the day, it's what you want to exchange for ready-made convenience. We have to build our own things and give ourselves some privilege. Nothing comes easy. We have to put in the work.
I would love to get more info.
At least you have each other. Take a time out and regroup. Vacation in place. Gambia is beautiful and you picked a great place. I visited there in March. Hang in there and remember why you came in the first place. 🌺🙏🏾🌚🇬🇲
Thank U for the motivation Rick and Cynthia. 👍
Very welcome ❤️
🎉DONT Forget 2👍🏾 Thumbs up Family 🎉
Well I went to America for 4 years and I was surprised at how many homes I visited and they were filthy.once I had to shaperon a couple to Texas we got to rest at one of their friends apartment believe me or not the amount of coakroaches in that apartment were of all sizes and they owned the apartment. I went to the bathroom and almost died of shock. As an African lady I thought where is the America I see in movies.i had come to do a nursing course but I left without even completing it and I have never and will never look back to america.i saw what a facade that country was.i would rather be in my" poor "African country
Greetings B.A.G. SJM (Cynthia) and SD (Rick) awesome points you both made and I approve your very wise words, Love, Peace, Soul.
In other words, Gambia got to break me in.
I can relate to all that brother Rick.
If you want to leave think of why you left america and WS.
Things that make you go hmm? Your right sjm&rick.thank u ase'✋🏾 watching from Dallas.i plan to visit next year.to the Gambia ☺️🤗✌🏾
This is an excellent presentation. One of your best videos I have watched. You guys just hit the nail on the head. Very sincere presentation that I think everyone should take to heart and think 10 times. All you said is 1000% correct. I have been through that here in the huskers and I think you know where am referring to.👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
Greetings BAG Family. Long time since I’ve been to your channel.
This is a good topic. Yoo You mentioned medical procedures. How good are the dentists there?
Also, I said that when I move to AFRIKA I’ll get some dogs. Do you have only Pitt Bulls? How easy is it to get security dogs such as German Shepards and Pit Bulls there?
Shalom , Mr Rick n SJM..u guys need to check out the 1 # black Talk show, With host Jason Black “ The Black Authority Show” , Friday n Saturday nite 8 Pm in Amerikkka! ☮️
No way I will leave America for Africa!
Africa isn’t for everyone
That's so true and legit. It's not only in the US, same in Europe so that most eldery Europeans move out as soon as they can take the money they have stacked up over the years, they run in nice Islands around the continent, or in Asia. It's not only a black thing.
Did you know that every 25 years Congress vote on continuing the so-called African-American citizenship and we was born here.
And being born here means we are citizens..and yes, i understand what you're saying.
There are 54 countries. More than half have English as official language. So if you are fed up with one African country, move to another one. Try somewhere else in AFRICA. Moving back to the west is DEFEAT.
Good information. Some other youtuber are telling our people don't come to Africa. 😒
I have lived in The Gambia 8 months total now, . People from U.K and Black Americans complain all the fucken time. An some of them have this elitist attitude. I find it embarrassing. Lol They think that Africans & Africa should be like where they come from. It’s not ! It could be better, but making it like America will not make it better. The New Africa will become its self , when everyone coming and everyone born there learns ‘first’ to respect each other. Where talking about eh people with different skill sets that speak different languages coming face to face with a people that have created popular culture worldwide.

Amazing people you are, I had been in England for over 14yrs since I was 20yrs. I had been suffering from home sick.
in 2020 I decide to return home for good.(🇳🇦 Namibia)now I want to go back again to England 🥺🥺 .
Just go there on holidays
This last time in The Gambia 2021 , I did not want to leave. Even through it’s harder to live there lol. So next time I am gonna remember, when your starting a new life in a different country , u normally do not start at the top. There gonna be a lot of things u ‘Should Learn’ an I learn as I go . Sometimes it’s a lot fun. Yet my home in Hawaii is more beautiful . So why am I more Happy ? I am not liven in my head as much. West Africa demand I live in the present!
