Great stuff. I had long questioned the "conventional wisdom" given that the woman in the photo was no teenager. I so appreciate those who invest their time in the hard work of digging for documents that bring the truth to light. The reality is usually far more fascinating that the legend and mythology! Well done, gentlemen!
There is also a photo of Emelia Maxwell that is misidentified as Manuela Bowdre. This misidentified photo is in the Donald Cline collection at the New Mexico State Archives. Emelia was a sister of Pete and Paulita Maxwell....The Photo of Emelia Maxwell is correctly identified in the Robert McCubbin collection.
Love it! Wow! WWHA videos just keep getting better and better. Paul's narration is beautiful, illustrations are first class, excellent unfolding of the plot, great documentation of each obvious question which arises, substantiated conclusions, REAL history, not fiction.
There are actually a few articles about this. I've seen them all before....It's fiction. Tom Pickett didn't die in a shoot out and leave his wife to Bowdre. Tom Pickett died several years later. Nobody named Nellie Pickett dug a grave and buried Charlie Bowdre . Lastly, Nobody named Nellie Pickett is buried at Fort Sumner....All Fiction.
It is good to see there are still new things to be discovered with diligent research. Thank you for adding to the story.
Damn good research, study, and artifacts.
