When I moved here and went to get my Arkansas license and tags it was 40 bucks for everything. They manufactured my permanent license on the spot. No line. No waiting. 30 minutes for the whole thing. My car registration is 20 bucks a year. And when you say hi to a stranger more often they look at you and say hi back. I own my 2 acres and house. Get 2 grand a month and save 250.00 each and every month. Sometimes more.

How's the COVID response in 2022 officially and unofficially?
I prefer freedom [over security]... no mask mandates, no forced clotshots, etc.
I was mostly free in Fresno, CA during 2019-2021 and definitely free in North Idaho for the last 7 months. All the Californians are destroying the housing markets everywhere. I am heavily considering Arkansas/Missouri. Single work-from-home income (no college), 8 kids and a wife. I just want to live where it's actually affordable and we can be free to enjoy life, *ice hockey,* and the great outdoors. Springdale looks pretty good and there are a few PCA churches in the area.

@@jadieannrogeredwin614 The best thing you can do is take a trip to Arkansas. Many houses are for sale by owner and unlisted online. There is a great potential for negotiating. And you can see the area. I like Yell County and the River Valley area.

I love your honesty and transparency. I absolutely love Arkansas and fell in love with the state on my first visit. I only regret not moving here 20 years ago. I truly enjoy experiencing all 4 seasons. It's naturally beautiful and Arkansians are true brotherhood who pull together when in need.

I also love living again in an area where 4 seasons thrive still. I lived in one state and over a lot of years witnessed 4 seasons fade into a near neutral, single season. Overcast. A few days of sun and a few days of rain. That is a horrible thing to see happen. Arkansas is alive still.

We traveled all over the country and picked Yellville Arkansas as our place to retire to. We bought 7 wooded acres and we just love it here. It was the best decision we ever made. There is just no stress here and no traffic either. The people here are so friendly and we've made many friends already. We don't miss living in the suburbs of Atlanta at all.

@Mackenzie Mattox Here in Yell County there are parts where the trees are so plentiful and the river valley is largely surrounded by mountains, we don't get the heavy, damaging storms. Yes Arkansas is a beautiful state with lots of natural beautiful. The people are very friendly in the smaller towns but not so much in the big cities. You do not get a lot for your money. $400,000 to $500,000 gets you a small home 3/2, 1600 to 2000 sq feet, no pool and it’s most likely a gut job. Be careful about buying in a flood zone (near rivers) and check our the surrounding areas of where you want to buy. There are a lot of high crime areas near those nice neighborhoods and where you will shop. Do your due diligence before buying

My wife and I just moved to AR from AZ 3 months ago and we love it. We moved from a booming suburb of Phoenix of about 150,000 people to a city of around 5,000 people. We have spent the majority of our lives in AZ so it was pretty much all we knew but have always wanted something different. We are home bodies and the pace of life here is exactly what we were looking for. It is quiet, there is no traffic, the people are SUPER nice, and the scenery is amazing. There are so many people moving to AZ from the west coast, and the amount of snow birds we got every year, it just got to be way too much. Everything in our lives aligned for us to consider making the move and we made the move. I am so happy we did it and look forward to the next chapter of our lives!

I lived in southwest Arkansas much of my life and I never knew for the longest what Northwest Arkansas was like. My family never went there. My parents just stayed in the southwest Arkansas or east Texas area for travel. I want people to understand the beauty of Northwest Arkansas. My mind was blown when I traveled to Eureka Springs and saw the mountains. I didn't feel like I was in Arkansas because flat Farmland is all I'd ever known. Also in central Arkansas just west of Little Rock is Hot Springs, Arkansas. It has some smaller mountainous area there as well. A lot of people don't realize that Hot Springs National Park which is in within the city of Hot Springs Arkansas. Yes, within the city, was set aside by the federal government 40 years before Yellowstone National Park existed as a national park. I'll try to keep it short but lots of beautiful things to see in Arkansas.

I am from rural western Ohio. It sounds really similar to what you're describing. I lived in NYC for year and also Columbus, but with permanent work from home and family being within ten minutes, it really makes sense. Also, I've given up the rat race of the big house, fast car, trophy wife bulls*t society feeds you. Literally just sold my car and bought a 2003 Pontiac Vibe for $1,400. I also don't drink anymore now that I'm in my 30s, so I am in bed by 9 every night pretty much. All in all, I love making money and keeping over 75% of it every month.

Arkansas is pretty much divided into two states: NW Ark and the rest of the state. One of those states, has low unemployment, low crime, higher house prices, the other place isn't in NW Ark.
Was talking to a real estate friend the other day and she told me that they had a grand total of around 250 available properties for sale in NW Ark. Housing prices have gone up 40% in the past two years. If you have a for sale sign in front of your house for longer than a couple of months, something is wrong. Houses that sold for $350K 4 years ago are now selling for $650K

I plan a move to Jonesboro, Arkansas from Roseville/Sacramento California and have found your video very helpful. So, I thank you and will listen to your other video's as well. I am selling my place on Labor Day in 2022 and just flying out to Tennessee and Arkansas and hope to find the right town and place to live. Jonesboro Arkansas has really taken all of my interest so far as it's close to Nashville and Memphis, and appears to be affordable and interesting enough. My real estate friend here at home has said the folks in Arkansas are normally very nice where Tennessean folks are different. So, Jonesboro really seems like my new home. It's a big move for me, but it fits my small retirement budget and lifestyle. Again, I thank you and look forward to your other video's.

However, I am going through a third round of job interview and “What if” (in case they offer me the job) is starting popping in my head and I need to think about it and I have to confess that this change is a bit scary to me because relocation is required for this position. Using your own words, the “under radar state” is great for outdoor activities such as hiking/biking but these are not my cup of tea.. In my comfort zone, I am planning to pay off my mortgage in less ten years and after searching online real estates in NWA I noticed the homes compared to mine are 67% higher. Sales taxes are 5% and 0% for food in WI. The property tax is great in AR but what else can you classify as low cost of living? What’s your opinion to someone in the mid 50s leave all behind to NWA?

I’m not seeing competitiveness on cost of living or housing. Maybe to a Californian but not from a Texan. Where are these affordable houses? It looks like over the past few years everything has tripled and quadrupled in price.
The act of people offering too much for homes over and above what it’s worth has created a housing bubble that will eventually burst. We would need to pay half a million for a 4 bedroom over there but in Texas you can pay 200,000 and less.

A lot of people turn their nose down on Arkansas but the cost of living is cheaper than most states ( including states like Texas and Florida) around the country. Most employers pay decent pay for the cost of living in Arkansas whereas in other states like Texas the employers pays low wages for the higher cost of living. I know several people in Texas (ex: Dallas, Austin, etc) said that you have to work at least three jobs to afford a decent place to live.

@Kaily Luscomb I was born and raised in Texarkana, Texas. You may already know that in downtown Texarkana, tourists actually go to our post office and take pictures with one foot in Texas, and the other foot in Arkansas, since we are a twin city. They call our area the "Arklatex", because you have 4 different states Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma that are very close to each other. Texarkana is kind of in the middle between Dallas, Tx and Little Rock, Ar. Takes a little longer to get to Dallas from Texarkana though. If I can help you in any way by answering any questions you might have, I will.

Lived in Arkansas 5+ years, really NOT sure if its the best place to move to, the cost of living is lower compared to other sates, but you also make relevantly much LOWER SALARY. The cost of living goes up every year, but the salary do NOT often get raised accordingly. The income tax rate is one of the highest in the US. Plus, you will NOT see much of DIVERSITY at all in Arkansas. State is NOT that much friendly to non-natives during daily life.
