I grew up in Santa Barbara California and now I live in NW Arkansas. I left Calufornia in 1988 and relocated here. It was culture shock for me. Very different. Took over a decade to adapt. At oresent I have a house on 2 acres in the beautiful Ozark mountains. I live a stone's throw from Eureka Springs. My home is paid off, I have gardens, chickens, rabbits and fruit trees (akso bees). I've learned to hunt and butcher game and I go fishing in world class trout rivers. My lifestyle is low pressure, I am extremely healthy and have many many friends. None of this could have been possible had I stayed in Cali. I absolutely love it here in Arkansas.
We're going to be neighbors shortly and cannot wait for that breath of relief as I escape the demoncratic state of WA. It used to be such an amazing place, but it hasn't felt like home for years now and immediately upon seeing the Ozarks it felt like home used to, before the greed and politics ruined it.
I'm from Laguna Beach Cal. been here for over 20 years and love it. Clean water running everywhere beautiful Mountains and clean fresh air. It's a well kept secret! Let's keep it that way.👍
I am planning to move to ozar from New York I use to live in California my brother wants me to move to houston but I love rivers lakes and mountain...ozark is the place
I have lived in Arkansas my entire life. Grew up poor, was clean, raised with good manners and lots of love. Was taught to love God, my neighbor, respect my elders and don’t judge others. Just a few basic principals to guide you through life. I was born poor and still have most of it. Proud to be from Arkansas😁
Good on you and good on your family for raising your right. I’ve know plenty of folks who use the excuse of poverty to be trash. Being broke doesn’t mean you gotta be poorly mannered.
I'm with you Brother. We drew tires and windows on pecans and rocks and pushed them around in the dirt instead of Hot wheels. Poured buckets of water on the creek banks and played on mud slides all day. Picked up bottles for candy money. Wrote letters. Mowed our older neighbors grass. Took care of our grandparents and parents till they died. That's real living.
I was born in Arkansas over 70 years ago, but I spent most of my life in Northern Indiana and SW Michigan. I recently returned from a four day trip back to Arkansas, and yes there is poverty there, just as there is poverty in innercity Chicago, Detroit, and other large cities. Money does not maker a person better! What matters is support you receive from your family, friends, and community. None of my family in Arkansas are wealthy, but that does not matter. For the most part they are all hardworking, kind and generous. I will take that any day over the pompas lifestyle of the upperclass subdivisions of the “upper class."
If his Co-worker was not such a "Dumbass", he might have been referred to, as, "Wise-ass" and/or "Smart-ass" and/or "Mud-Butt" and, then, there's "Maude."
E vivido en Arkansas por más de 30 anos y no envidio nada a las grandes ciudades por toda esta bella naturaleza no la cambio por nada y arriba Arkansas digan lo k digan
I don't live here because I want to be rich financially. I live here because I want to be rich in spirit and rich in the beauty of the nature that surrounds me.
I couldn't agree more with you and this Briggs guy sounds like a pompous ass. I'm not from Arkansas but did have family there and it's a beautiful state. The only bad thing I think about Arkansas is Bill and Hillary Clinton. RIP Kevin Ives and Don Henry.
@@razorramoneljefe5956 That's Oklahoma bro. We might have 1 or 2 serious tornadoes each year, but they're usually not too bad because we have mountains to block them where I live. Nothing like the F5 that hit Moore, OK a few years ago.
English Rob there are some single women and decent looking if you can get by the missing teeth. Been in Arkansas all my life and and almost all the good looking woman are beautiful until you get to laughing and their missing teeth shows. I met a beautiful woman just outside Little Rock and invited her to a nice restaurant. Everything was fine until she started farting. When she farted she would laugh and thought that was so funny. The management finally asked us to leave because other people was complaining about her farting. I wound up going to Louisiana to get a woman. Much better choice because they can cook out of this world. Less missing teeth to. Mine only has one tooth gone on her lower front. Not too bad heh?
I used to dog Arkansas back in my arrogant big city days but now that I’ve actually been there many times I love it! Beautiful state and some of the best people on earth!
@Cobb Knobbler Arkansas has some beautiful gated retirement communities... Great state in which to stretch retirement dollars. Great year-round climate & some beautiful clear rivers & lakes!
@Cobb Knobbler North Tennessee and Kentucky is better, because it isn't as far south. I would pick North Tennessee, because they don't have a state income tax. Kentucky has 5% and arkansas has 6.5% . . so you don't need neither of those withholding's from your SS check.
@Cobb Knobbler The deep south is too hot. (where I'm from btw). Of course it depends on what you like, I like Gardening, which is better, along a line from southern missouri to north Carolina/Virginia line, without it being too cold in the winter.
@@pmd9136 ok, they just tax the shit out of those of us still working, to pay for all the old people who move here. Now I understand why we have entire communities of yankees, who couldn't afford to retire in Florida
I was born in Fort Smith but raised on the west coast. My old man worked construction and so do I. I'm almost 60, ready to retire and looking at real estate in Arkansas. Some of the poorest people in small towns can be the richest in character and generosity. The patients are running the asylums on the west coast.
I find it ironic the walking, talking cueball who made this video implores other people to 'be nice to each other' while he acts like a total turd, bashing the lives of others to make him feel better about his own failed, and miserable, life. Hope you find a nice piece of land to retire to.
Your comment was some time ago but the real estate has changed for the worse now. The people who live and work in Arkansas can no longer afford to buy due to people moving from out of State. And we pay more than the National average for groceries now too.
@@Kenny_Wayne_III I'm sorry to hear that friend. It's happening in all the red states. What's really bad is they run away from what they destroyed by voting Democrat and now they will do it in Arkansas. To bad some hill folk , never mind I'll get my channel shut down .
@@Kenny_Wayne_III I own 100 acres outside of Clinton. We had a few Yankees move in here, too, and instantly start complaining about the neighbors who've lived there for generations. They shut up when we suggested the assessor pay there places a visit to re-evaluate their property taxes.
Well played, sir. We are not far from each other at all. I’m in Faulkner County now (Conway). My wife’s side of the family is in Greenbrier but I am from Crossett. My hometown of Crossett doesn’t have many people moving in as there’s not much left there. Conway and the surrounding areas are a completely different story. You can drive through the neighborhoods in Conway and see tons of out of state plates. It’s great for those who are used to paying those big city prices but we will have to look for a home elsewhere. For example, it was easy to find a starter home for $125,000 two years ago. Those same homes are now over $200,000. This amount goes up during the bidding process. And this is the small 3 bed/2 bath homes. Home owners insurance has increased drastically too. How are regular Arkansan’s supposed to get started? Waiting for recession y’all! 😂
I was born in Arkansas in 1963 and have lived here all my life. I will die here as well because it's home and truly a great place to live. There is not a state in the country that doesn't have once heathy towns that are now struggling and financially distraught due to industry going obsolete or leaving town. Every town you mentioned, at one time, had a vibrant past that attracted people to come and work, play, and raise a family. You're absolutely right that these towns are probably not great places to move to, but there are many many places in this state that people come visit and never want to leave, eventually moving there to enjoy the rest of their lives. The cost of living here is so much less than most places in this country that it doesn't take a six figure income to live comfortably and have nice things. Yes we have a certain amount of poverty, but so does every other state. Most of the people that trash our wonderful state have never even seen it. They watch videos like this that highlight the poorest communities in the state and assume that's what every town is like. Couldn't be farther from the truth. I've never understood why people thinks it's so much fun to focus on the negative.
I was born and raised in Arkansas. I’m 29 years old now and I travel internationally but I’ve never come across a place like Arkansas. I guess it’s true when they say “there’s no place like home”.
I feel the same way. I left a few times but always came back. I finally realized money is not everything. The only thing here I could do without is the hot humid summers.
ANYONE FROM ARKANSAS KNOWS WHERE Bill Gates 49,500 acres of farm land in Arkansas that he owned??? I thought Arkansas is a mountainous area??!! Is it TROUBLING TO HEAR THAT HE OWNED SO MUCH LAND IN ARKANSAS??
I used to live in CA and NY- after you adjust for cost of living, both of those states have higher poverty rates than AR (CA being significantly higher). People love to talk shit about Arkansas, but the reality is that a middle class income there will afford you a much better and lower stress life than almost anywhere else in America. I wouldn't recommend moving to any of the towns on this list, but moving to Arkansas was the best move of my life.
this is true. Bought a home in little rock for 140,000. My cousin was visiting town and said my house would be worth at least 900,000 in LA. Idk how people can afford to live there.
It's not that simple Robert. Like every state, there are good and bad areas. In general, all of the cities with greater than 50,000 people are perfectly fine. Little Rock and Fort Smith have some shady areas, but it's no worse than any city. Most of Arkansas's poverty and consequently its crime, is focused in the very rural parts of the state. Similar to CA. Sure LA is wealthy, but drive an hour east and you're in the shit hole known as San Bernidino.
@@robertjames6890 I've lived in AR nearly 10 years, and fortunately I've never had anything stolen. I cannot say the same about my much briefer time in CA. The difference is that my income allows me to live in a much nicer neighborhood in AR than what I could afford in CA. High crime neighborhoods? I just don't have to interact with them much. You can't just look at bulk statistics and conclude that an entire state is good or bad- way too simple-minded.
I’ve been living in the Ozarks for the last decade or so. I manage a small organic grocery and I have a modest homestead. We live very well from one income and homeschool our three beautiful children. Here life is good even when it ain’t. The land is beautiful and the people are some of the nicest I’ve met.
As a brit who visited arkansas to see friends who live in a small town. I have to say. Most people are really friendly and would share everything they have, very welcoming and a much slower pace of life. Bit of a culture shock to a city boy. But I loved it great people.
@@ridgerunner106 ironically most of us Arkansan whites are descendants of Brits. The average Arkansan surname is Scottish, English or Welsh. Mine is Welsh. Same with yours Ridge "Runner" it's also British. From England.
I am a Brit who married a girl from AR . And you are 100% spot on. The people there are fantastic . Salt of the earth. Coming from SE England it was a bit of a culture shock at first . But it dont take long to feel welcomed & comfortable . You dont need to scratch too far beneath the surface to realise we are pretty much the same either . Quite unique compared to other States.
I am originally from Michigan and was transplanted to Arkansas by the Air Force. My family and I have lived here now for 25+ years and just built our retirement home on the outskirts of Little Rock. People are way friendlier in the south and I like the ruralness of the state.
I'm glad you made this video. I hope folks that see it take your word. Maybe no else will come. I live in Arkansas. About 600 people. No Stop lights in town. A river runs along the town. Lakes to fish in and woods to hunt. I bought a 3bed Brick home for 23,000 2 yrs ago. Cost of living is low here. I wouldn't say most people are below the poverty line. I moved from California to Arkansas 5 years ago. I love it here.
I've lived in Arkansas all of my life and always told my kids get a education and leave to find jobs they did and they all came back. I think people here are just happy with less I mean we all got nice TVs pretty good trucks and heat and air and we eat good what else does a person need to be happy? And everyone knows a bootlegger and a horticulturist will some fine Arkansas homegrown. It ain't bad and I wouldn't leave her.

That's amazing. In 1795 there probably weren't more than a couple thousand white people in Arkansas and most of them would have been French or Spanish.
Hey, great for you! My great, great, great, great grandfather was a founder in Searcy County . Snowball, Arkansas. We native Arkies have to stand up the likes of this fella.

It shouldn't be but it is. I live in Arkansas but I live in Northwest Arkansas. There is A LOT of money in Northwest Arkansas and I don't have much of it. I'm invisible here.
As I said before this was about 11 years ago. Now everywhere I go all I see is trash trash trash. I mean how do we accumulate sooo much trash and then just throw it out of the car window or worse throw it in the rivers when boating. It's awful now. And I am a true born and bred Delta Arkansan. It is such a beautiful state. People just need to learn to keep their trash and not add to the growing litter problem.
Try the Arkansas Highway Dept., and Governors Hotline. (&) Since the Trash problem, will lower Tourism dollars, they probably will respond! I grew up in prosperous Northwest Arkansas...basically, the Ozarks. It’s such a good place to live. The quality of life there ranks very high nationally. In addition, the region’s natural beauty is extraordinary. I live in the Seattle area now and I can tell you that Northwest Arkansas is as beautiful as the Pacific Northwest. I live in LA; but I got my Ph.D in Fayetteville, AR. I really loved my 4 years that I spent there in the mid to late 1970s. Why not also do a video on the top 10 towns in AR? Your video reinforces stereotypes of southern small towns. Every state has its pockets of poverty under our present economic system. The people of AR are good hard-working folks. Go Hogs!, Go LA Rams!
They hide their crazy well 🤣 but if your in North Arkansas NEVER assume the state is the same everywhere! Lol! South Arkansas is it's own kinda weird. I crap you not, my best friend in high-school married her cousin... yet that don't go on here??? Hmm..... wow 👏
I can say this. As a lifelong resident of West Memphis, Arkansas, I have gotten by pretty well. I just reached another tax bracket ($30,000 range), and I'm doing okay. If you manage your funds right, you can actually live a fairly decent life here.
My grandpa lived in Arkansas for a bit, we visited, and I thought it was pretty nice. Very beautiful. However, my only concern is it is the only state in the US where your landlord can kick you out if you're a day late on rent, and police are called to evict you with no notice. And, you can go to jail, just because the landlord has a lawyer. I don't know, that's scary to me. I rent, and I can't imagine that. Scary stuff, so that makes me hesitant to living there.. unless I was buying.
NW Arkansas is a motorcyclist's dream. Great winding roads, quaint small towns to stop and grab something to eat or gas up, and the most scenic mountains anywhere. (I may be prejudiced) Fall is like a magical trip thru a kaleidoscope of color. There is also plenty of places to stay especially in the Eureka Springs and Harrison areas.
I grew up in Horatio Arkansas and it is a small town no too awfully far from Wicks, Umpire, and Vandervoort (The pronunciation rhymes with FORT. Get it right or STFU.) I had rather live in any one of those places than to live in any town or city that had over 15,000 people. Poverty or not, you will never meet nicer people and in the case of this particular area, it's in the Ouachita Mts. which is a beautiful region. As far as Zinc goes, it's in the Ozark Mts. and right off the Buffalo River which is one of the most scenic rivers in Ark. I live in a small town in GA now, but when my wife retires, rest assured, I will get my azz back to Ark. and probably back to the same area I grew up in. A lot simpler life for sure.
All these towns sound great. As long as there are no assholes like him living there. My family and I go to Ark for vacation every year. We hope to live there someday .
@@MrRickburns Then you are familiar with Cossatot Falls aren't you? We shot the falls on tractor tire inner tubes.
As someone who grew up in Wickes, this totally misrepresents this humble little town. It's mostly a farming community made up of salt-of-the-earth folks who have found ways to get by on less. This is the problem with using your metrics to judge these small towns. Just because 30% of a town is below the poverty line doesn't mean 30% of a town is struggling and living in a shack. They may be more self-sustaining and have a farm that supports their way of living. It isn't without problems, but what place isn't? Also, how are you going to make a video like this and wear a shirt that says, "Be nice to each other." I know this will be just one more voice in a sea of comments, but this type of entertainment is the lowest form. It's shallow and uninspired. It accomplishes nothing but wrongly judge places you obviously have never been to.

Well, people can say what they want about Arkansas. I’ve lived in a lot of other states and I chose Arkansas. Yes things need to change, but there are not just poor people living in those towns. They are good neighbors, you come through 3 of those towns I know, you would be invited in for a meal or a glass of tea. If your car was broke down, anyone there would stop to help and not ask for anything in return. We raised our kids here in a small town because of what goes on in big towns. I’ve been there, I know. Come to visit, but ask small town locals where the best spots are and you’ll see it. The best places are a secret, not on any maps. Lol

I was a OTR truck driver for many years. The craziest sights I've ever seen, have happened in Arkansas. I saw a man driving down the road, with a horse standing in the back of his Chevy p/u truck, not tied to anything. That same day, I saw a woman driving a little Toyota four-door car, with about six goats in the car with her. They were hanging their heads out the window, just like a bunch of dogs. Arkansas is a beautiful state, but you never know what you might see there!!
I lived right next to Georgetown, in Japton (you never heard of that place either). It's not really a "town". It once was for early settlers and that and the surrounding area kindof boomed in the late 1800's to early 1900's. It's a small isolated mountain area with people who have more money (definitely assets) than he has. Beautiful property.
I've never seen a riot in Arkansas crime rate is really low and we seldome lock doors . This state is beautiful and pollution is not a problem .the lakes and streams still have clear water .
I would have to say no and yes at the same time. Yes because of the nature aspect plus the cutures in it. No due to the homophobic and racist culture that most have to live around. This may not be for every town or county etc but in my town it personally is not very pleasant to be in.
I've lived in AR on and off my whole life. I've lived in a lot of towns near some on his list and they were small and poor. But they also have some wonderful people there. People that would stop and offer assistance if you were stranded etc. What I never saw there was homeless people shooting up and defecating in public places! People are leaving California in droves. I'm sure they aren't moving to Arkansas but that's fine with me! I'm sure California has lots of nice people. I wouldn't know as it's one place I've never been tempted to go. I'll just stay here with all the other po folk!😁
@frank enstein .well the homeless problem in Angeles, California is terrible. Drugged up, deification, half naked. But do worry Mayor Garcetti says that things are looking up. At least in Arkansas, a country boy can survive.
I live mainly in Texas but, twelve years I bought a place in Heber springs Ark that has a few acres and two houses. The people there are below the poverty level but very friendly. Neighbors can be counted on when help when it is needed I remember a tornado came thru one eve and the next morning there were four neighbors there with chain saws to help me clean up three that I didn’t know. They are a proud people that are poor but don’t know it. They treat me like I’m one of them. As my dad once said, it’s no disgrace to be poor, just a little unhandy and money isn’t everything, it just beats the hell out of what is in second place. Everything was great until they started drilling for natural gas around 8 years ago. People went crazy and here came the meth users from the influx of Okies coming in to work, now they have polluted not only the environment but the locals. Such a shame they couldn’t handle prosperity!
How the hell did you miss Big Flat?!?!?!! 😂😂😂 I love my state! I was born and raised here! Im close to Mountain Home, Salem to be exact. Ive looked to move to a warmer state, but i need lakes, rivers, dirt roads and lots of hills! Although i haven't heard of any of these places, I can find the humor in this and laughed quiet a bit😂
@@du-me-Utube-1975 No. Damn it! Arkansas is only mountainous in the northern part of the state, and even then, mostly central Arkansas going west. The Northwest corner is the last of the Ozark Mountains. Most everything else is flat. I’m guessing that pedo you keep asking about has farmland in the eastern part of the state. Lot of rice farming there. He has land and water rights all over the nation. Nothing I can do about it, so I don’t lose any sleep over it.
Wow man as a teen that lives in Arkansas this is the best state I’ve ever been to everyone is kind and caring so go drive your eco friendly car where the sun don’t shine big boy or is it all about money so who cares some of us aren’t as fortunate as you city boy
We have a BEAUTIFUL state. It's called the Natural State for a reason. Gorgeous lakes, streams, rivers, and forest everywhere. I've been around the world, and you will be hard pressed to find a nicer bunch of people. I've never heard of the towns he listed, but I can tell you a little secret. When the $#!t hits the fan, and it will, those people making $8000 in Arkansas will be doing a lot better than people in the big cities. That's a fact!!
"Be nice to eachother" he says, after shredding Arkansas lol. I drove from Memphis to Little Rock and back via back roads, and I've never seen poverty like that outside of Detroit. Just miles of muddy fields and long-abandoned single wides. Sad and beautiful.
On that back road route, those "muddy fields" turn very green and prosper in the summer. They grow much of the countries rice, soybeans, and cotton amongst other crops. Yes the Mississippi River Delta is a poor area but some of the most fertile land around.
Yeah. Like Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, Hot Springs, Little Rock, etc. many more. There's crime and poverty everywhere in the US, but most of these other places don't have anything like the beauty of the Ozark Plateau.
Moved to Arkansas almost 14 years ago from Oregon, to the Paragould/Jonesboro area and didn't like it at first but about 5 years ago I moved to the mountain home area in the Ozarks and love it. There's no mosquitoes here like there is in the flat lands and Branson Mo is only 2 hours away, also most people in this area leave you alone and mind there own business. As long as you don't live in the flatlands, Arkansas is actually a really nice place to live
Reading some of the comments here about how some of these rural communities are, I have to agree with them. My family on my dad's side are from Arkansas. I didn't get the chance to grow up around them, but later in life I was fortunate to finally meet them. None of them are well off yet they possess a grace and goodness that astonished me. My folks on my mom's side are all successful, highly educated, upper middle class but they don't have even a fraction of the class my Arkansas relatives have. Yeah, I know there's bad people in Arkansas just like there's bad people every where, but alot of those people you portray in those small poor communities are quality people.
@@juniorthird7952 That's right, dude..keep voting Republican..perhaps one day your income rates will be above that magic 10,000 dollars a year...You guys can keep your outdoor plumbing, cars parked on the front yard and inbred residents. (Open Laughter)
You'd live like a king in Arkansas. One of the least expensive states to live in. If you're a 100% disabled veteran, no property taxes, free hunting and fishing licenses.
Lone WOLF wow you could live like a king here on that kind of money. Especially with a few under the table jobs on the side. If you made a few bucks on the side I would not tell. Come on. We would love to have you.
As a teen who lives in the state i can say that for a kid or teen its very underwelming(at least for my city), but as a retirement place it would be a great pick
There is poverty in EVERY state & in EVERY country!!! I was born in California, I moved to Arkansas 30 year's ago & I have traveled across this country, from California to New York & came back here to Arkansas because the rest of this country suck's in comparison, I have raised my kid's here & I will die here in Arkansas
I was born and raised in the Southwest corner of Arkansas. I live there now, because there is nowhere else I would rather be. Arkansas is good, we may not have everything, but I beat we have more than you will ever know. Sorry you are missing out on so much.
Move if you want BUT move and become an Arkansan. Arkansans will not be so nice if you keep trying to turn it into CALIFORNIA. YOU MOVED AWAY FOR A REASON. REMEMBER THAT.
I'm a native Arkansan. I've been all over the USA and several countries. I honestly wouldn't want to live in East Arkansas because its flat farmland and not pretty but the rest is beautiful and I've always found other states lacking. You really went out of your way to find the worst. Maybe I should thank you for making us undesirable so we can keep this little slice of heaven for ourselves.
At least Arkansas isnt infested with homless and illegalls like California and human waste all over like San Francisco. Crime is low or known in these one horse towns in Arkansas.
You comparing city environments to rural is fing ignorant. Florida is GOP and has just as many homeless dipshit. You clowns are simple soundbite tools! Oh ya most fing city's have homeless. Derp. GOP spending on rich and military is more important. Derp!
I bet when a thief comes to steal things they didn't earn the home owner is slow to dial 911 until after defending what they worked for. Sounds like a great place to live if you asked me.The city can shove that crime right up thier asses.Ill take the country any day.
My mom was born and raised in Arkansas. Only a dirt path to their home, no electricity, no indoor plumbing. Water was brought from the spring as well as storage of food items in that same spring. They were a poor rural farming family even after their move to Missouri.
Although I currently live in GA, Arkansas will always be "home" to me and there is no place better than the small towns of Arkansas. Some of the fondest memories I have were created in the Vandervoort (pronounced vander voort, as in fort), Wickes, and Umpire area which are all located in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountain Range. They are all located near the Cossatot River which is a very popular river for whitewater rafting and kayaking. It's also a very dangerous river for those activities. You also mentioned Zinc which is located on the Buffalo River which is extremely popular for it's beauty and canoeing up in the Ozark Mountains. Sure, there are many poor people in Arkansas. But you will have a hard time finding any friendlier people than you will find in these small communities. I feel sorry for someone that judges the quality of life strictly by the money they make.
He wasn't "insulting" Arkansas.. he was only being honest, with a great sense of humor. Apparently you aren't from around these parts or you would know the facts he was putting out there lol
No poverty is not a joke. I agree. But I don't see where you think he was insulting? I mean if you could maybe elaborate a little on what you found insulting? So I could understand where your coming from? I think he nailed it I've been to all those little spots except 2
“...be nice to each other” might be a more valid sign off phrase following a video indicating even a modicum of concern for the residents of whom you speak. Here, you’ve simply disparaged folks who have learned something most of us lack: contentment. Arkansas is a beautiful state with beautiful people, like most places. Also in Arkansas, you can find snobs gifted with sarcasm, something in such short supply these days. Good to know you’ll not be increasing that demographic in The Natural State.
I lived in Arkansas for 24 years, and I never heard of any of those places. I lived in Marshal, AR for 4 years, Dumas, AR for 3 years, and Star City, AR for 17 years. Actually 15 years of that was about 7 miles west of Star City, on AR-114. Sadly I am now stuck about 25 miles SE of Phoenix, AZ, and it is HORRIBLE. I want to go back to Arkansas so bad, but it just isn't possible. I recently retired at 62, and put my house in a trust for my kids. So I no longer have the option of selling the house and I don't want to leave my kids and 2 grandkids. I grew up poor, and never had any desire to become rich. Being poor in rural Arkansas is a LOT different than being poor in some ghetto in East LA.
It sounds like people living there are living on Social Security and or pensions..Briggs... it sounds like your insulting a lot of people this video..u sound...uppity..
Yeah. Sure 'nuf. But the crime stats don't lie. Home invasion robberies are scary. So is murder. So which is the little Chicago of the south? Pine Bluff (and it's just one crime+ place).
I'm from the Cumberland Plateau section of Eastern Kentucky and I feel a considerable kinship to Arkansas, especially the uplands in that state which are, like home, beautiful, forested hills and rough little mountains. There is wealth beyond money in such places.
I lived in Cove. A man who had been having trouble with the water company ( also the Mayor )in Cove , and he drove his lawnmower to the Mayor/water department shot him and called the Sheriff. He got 5 years for manslaughter.
I don't understand why this video popped up in my recommendations.. putting other people down and wearing a shirt saying "be nice to each other" wow such a hypocrite!!
Not very nice to make fun of people or where they live or what they make. Not all of us are able to afford bread on the table. To all you people in those 10 towns of Arkansas, may God bless you and your families, and keep your faith strong. Being kind should not just be words....
@john probst - Yea, Briggs seems more biased against AR than most other states. That's ok, we don't need anymore liberals moving here and no, Briggs, diversity doesn't necessarily make it better.
So, I've meant Briggs at a TH-cam event. The man I get the feeling really cares about this country. I think he hates seeing states like Mississippi and Arkansas in bad shape for so many years. He was smarter than I thought he would be, which make me think that mocking of these cities is just his sense of humor. He is a very interesting and weird guy.
Glad both of y’all are here.
I'm from Laguna Beach Cal. been here for over 20 years and love it.
Clean water running everywhere beautiful Mountains and clean fresh air. It's a well kept secret! Let's keep it that way.👍
Glad you are here and have adjusted well
I am planning to move to ozar from New York I use to live in California my brother wants me to move to houston but I love rivers lakes and mountain...ozark is the place
An Arkie myself, I agree with Bryan Ross, couldn't of said it any better.
💯💯💯💯
Good on you and good on your family for raising your right. I’ve know plenty of folks who use the excuse of poverty to be trash. Being broke doesn’t mean you gotta be poorly mannered.
I'm with you Brother. We drew tires and windows on pecans and rocks and pushed them around in the dirt instead of Hot wheels. Poured buckets of water on the creek banks and played on mud slides all day. Picked up bottles for candy money. Wrote letters. Mowed our older neighbors grass. Took care of our grandparents and parents till they died. That's real living.
I moved to Arkansas from a big city. Never found more love and compassion in my life. Screw the the haters.
❤❤❤❤
Had to throw those inner cities in there; you people never stray from the script.
Briggs: wears a shirt that says "Be nice to each other"
Also Briggs: calls a coworker dumb ass while he isn't around.....
@evolvinglight&love exactly...as long as they are happy , money isnt everything.

E vivido en Arkansas por más de 30 anos y no envidio nada a las grandes ciudades por toda esta bella naturaleza no la cambio por nada y arriba Arkansas digan lo k digan
Nice to see all the Arkansas folks backing the state. That's rare. You're right: judging a place according to money is foolish.

How can there be money in arkansas when it gets destroyed every year by tornadoes
@@razorramoneljefe5956 That's Oklahoma bro. We might have 1 or 2 serious tornadoes each year, but they're usually not too bad because we have mountains to block them where I live. Nothing like the F5 that hit Moore, OK a few years ago.

I ain't lived there for many year but when I was there I loved the fresh air, the wilderness and of course THE VERY NICE PEOPLE 💗🤗💗
English Rob there are some single women and decent looking if you can get by the missing teeth.
Passive Aggressive Negotiator Arkansas does not tax social security.

Mike Aubrey Well said sir

37 years in a big city. Moved to central Arkansas. Met a doe eyed girl and good friends.
Especially NWA
this is true. Bought a home in little rock for 140,000. My cousin was visiting town and said my house would be worth at least 900,000 in LA. Idk how people can afford to live there.
CA's poverty rate is 25% - the highest in the country.
It is such a beautiful state. People just need to learn to keep their trash and not add to the growing litter problem.

I had rather live in any one of those places than to live in any town or city that had over 15,000 people.

Pebblefox 08 yes I do I. Northeast Arkansas
De Queen, Arkansas here, I tel you wat' this channel is funny and dumb at the same time, not as The Young Turks of dumb, but dumb none the less.
Yeah. Like Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, Hot Springs, Little Rock, etc. many more. There's crime and poverty everywhere in the US, but most of these other places don't have anything like the beauty of the Ozark Plateau.
Pine Bluff here even though it's kinda rough here it's pretty nice I came here every summer from Chicago at least in Arkansas you get a piece of mind
Hey! I'm in mountain home as well!
Cool, just stay in California, be fine by me.
Keep Arkansas liberal free.

I get $ 9350 a year off disability maybe I need to move to Arkansas.. ☺☺♣♣
Lone wolf Yes you do I have seen somee beautiful homes for around 10K in these little towns.
Wow, you'd be rich!
I’m from California (born and raised). I’m thinking of moving to this state. Seems like most people love this state from reading the comments below.
Sorry , our California quota is full , you might try Mississippi.
I was born and raised in the Southwest corner of Arkansas. I live there now, because there is nowhere else I would rather be. Arkansas is good, we may not have everything, but I beat we have more than you will ever know. Sorry you are missing out on so much.
Typical mentality for Arkansas
That's right
Move if you want BUT move and become an Arkansan.
Rainy R&R & R&R very true
Really no illegals have you been to Springdale
You comparing city environments to rural is fing ignorant. Florida is GOP and has just as many homeless dipshit. You clowns are simple soundbite tools! Oh ya most fing city's have homeless. Derp. GOP spending on rich and military is more important. Derp!
I bet when a thief comes to steal things they didn't earn the home owner is slow to dial 911 until after defending what they worked for. Sounds like a great place to live if you asked me.The city can shove that crime right up thier asses.Ill take the country any day.
Yep, you are from Arkansas all right. You can't even spell "Homeless"
"Insult a State" for money. Your are a real gem.
He wasn't "insulting" Arkansas.. he was only being honest, with a great sense of humor. Apparently you aren't from around these parts or you would know the facts he was putting out there lol
@@tattooednreverse785 No, he was insulting the most poverty stricken places, that's not a joke. Poverty is not a joke.
Nice to finally see a face that goes with the voice!!! I grew up in Arkansas and loved it It’s beautiful!!!
Really....sounds like a quite peaceful place to live.....
I don't understand why this video popped up in my recommendations.. putting other people down and wearing a shirt saying "be nice to each other" wow such a hypocrite!!
its a typical hypocritical liberal phenomenon...
@@xisotopex Why are you bringing politics into this by calling him liberal?
Welcome back to this week’s episode of “Why is this in my recommended?”

Not very nice to make fun of people or where they live or what they make. Not all of us are able to afford bread on the table. To all you people in those 10 towns of Arkansas, may God bless you and your families, and keep your faith strong. Being kind should not just be words....

Ive been to cove Arkansas and its all chicken farms and cattle country, but it's a beautiful area
Collin Coats same. I live in West Memphis.
Northwest Arkansas is well off but large swaths of the State is severely poverty stricken.
Be nice to each other? Yet you put down AR? Man you're twisted!
Arkansas is a conservative state. That should be a oxymoron.
@john probst - Yea, Briggs seems more biased against AR than most other states. That's ok, we don't need anymore liberals moving here and no, Briggs, diversity doesn't necessarily make it better.
@@Castleknight Right!! As far as I'm concerned....if you don't like Arkansas...just drive right on around it!!
Burt Wilcox...nice of you...but dudes an ass
