  • The UK's Challenger 2 tank has blasted away the competition in Nato's Exercise Iron Spear.
The armoured vehicle competition for main battle tanks, held in Estonia, saw a Challenger 2 tank, from the Queen's Royal Hussars beat a German Leopard 2 tank, operated by Spanish personnel and the third-placed American M1 Abrams crew.
Major Anthony Kaulback, Chief of Staff for the enhanced Forward Presence Battlegroup in the country, said the regiment was one of those who had donated Challenger 2 tanks to Ukrainian personnel to use in their fight against Russia.

The destruction of (Export) Abrams in Yemen is what happens when commanders/crew are incompetent. Nothing is invincible in this world, and if tanks are left unsupported, they are vulnerable to enemy infantry and can be destroyed. In WW2 the majority of British Tank Crews killed or injured were outside of the tank conducting personal admin such as cooking, making a brew, cleaning and "dropping the kids of at the pool". So for these reasons and the need to survive in a NBCD environment where the crew could not exit the tank sometimes for days, a boiling vessel was built into the tanks and there are facilities for a toilet using the loaders seat (which is not as popular).

Remember, this is a friendly competition. No matter which individual country performs the best all of NATO wins. Pushing crews to be the best they can be benefits everyone, because one day they might be fighting alongside each other. Sure bragging rights are a thing, but at the end of the day every tank crew here would be willing to stand toe to toe with all the others in the competition.

Best and toughest tank out there, it's a shame their isn't more, but what they lack in numbers, they make up for in hardness, it holds multiple records, and has withstood multiple (60+)RPG hits and a Milan atgms too, plus with its rifled barrel can and has blitzed a tank at over 5km/3miles away, confirmed kill at that distance is outstanding indeed, in fact it's only ever been incapacitated by one of its own In a blue on blue accident, but was up and fighting again 6 hrs after, yep it's a beast indeed

Wow, wasn’t expecting this considering how lacks the MOD have been in regards to Challenger 2 upgrades. Goes to show how good the initial design of Challenger 2 is and how well dialled in the crews are to their machine. Suppose it also has something to do with the faster loading two-part ammo as I remember seeing in its demonstration video where it stopped eight targets in 58 seconds. Nice surprise since it is my favourite tank. Well done to the Queen’s Royal Hussars, ‘target stopped!’
