    This is a step-by-step guide of how to set up an M1 Macbook (or indeed any laptop) with a dual monitor setup for all your creative and work from home needs. The video focusses on M1 Macbooks but if you use M1 Pro, M1 Max, M2, M2 Pro, M2 Max or even Windows PCs, you should still find this works perfectly.

    Thank you so much for this video. It was helpful to have it segmented so I can go back and watch over the parts I did not catch the first time. The list of things needed was helpful too. I was able to find everything I need. I have watched other videos but this one was the most straightforward and easy for a non-techie to understand. I have been struggling with this M1 issue since the new MacBook's were released. Thank you.

    Hi John, how does the mac respond while using the Display link on an M1 that doesn’t officially support more than one external screen? More specifically, are all the menu bars, dock, etc tricked into working as if using two screens on a machine that can do so natively, or is it more of a case that the menus, dock etc always appear on the main screen? Thanks

    Hi John, thanks for your video! Very well explained. I just have one question; isn't there another way, with all the time that has passed since these MacBooks were released, other than getting a DisplayLink-compatible hub? I'm concerned about the extra cost, as these hubs are not regular low-cost hubs

    • @SeansCreativeStudio
      @SeansCreativeStudio  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had to discover this setup because the issue is caused by a hardware limitation on the M1 systems, when the M2 and newer systems have been coming out, it has meant that they don't have the same issue as they can use Thunderbolt for one of the monitors. However with M1, there are no other ways to make this work.
      There is a link in the description for the compatible hubs and you don't always need the latest and greatest to make this work.
      There should be a few more affordable options to get you up and running.
      Thanks for watching and commenting, I hope this helps!

      @@SeansCreativeStudio I’m not sure. It’s the Dell WD19TBS docking station. It allows for me to use the external monitor as a separate screen instead of a mirror, but it’s not reading the 2nd external monitor.

    And there is also a displayport input, that is, you can connect a third separate desktop? I really have dell alienware, and I need to connect 3 working separate monitors, I don't know if this station will go?

    Sean, help me understand; I have a MacBook air M2, will this hub help me use both external monitors independently one form the other so that I can do different tasks on each one?
    Thank you for you help!

    Thanks for the video! So when you use Insomniac, will your mac still go to sleep when you don't use it for a while (whatever you set it to I guess), and then wake up with a shake of the mouse?

    Is there a cheaper option for the HUB? I don't have 4k monitor and only need it for duel monitors. Thank you

    Thanks for the video, LUX. May I ask how much Unified Memory your MBP M1 has? Is it 16GB or 32GB? Thanks again!

    hi do you think this would work with a monitor and a Cintiq? At the moment I can only use one or the other as the Cintiq is a screen/wacom... Thanks
