    Nice video tips. Wondering if you could help.. I have choice between a dell 2421 16:10 (1920x1200) or Dell 2719 16:9, (2550x1440) and not sure if the 27 inch would give me the same vertical depth if I run the resolution at 1920x1200 ?

      Maybe a bit too late, but the QHD is more resolution, considerable more! You'll be running QHD resolution and not 1920x1200

    Great comparison which takes into account a lot of different uses. I also edit raws, edit video, play games, consume media and since I'm about to change my monitor I'm still torn on getting a 16:9 and 16:10. I actually love 16:10 to work but in a lot of movies and expecially games 1920x1200 is still not supported(which is unbeliavable considering we're in 2018 and even 90's games often supported every sort of resolution). Gaming with black bars ain't the best

    Excellent video. All examples are very clear and meaningful. Was wondering if you had to choose between 23.8" 16:9 monitor vs 22.5" 16:10 which one would be better for Word/Excel and browsing . Height is equal but the former is 4.4cm wider. Should you cut some width ?

    I managed to grab a Dell U2415, It's only 1920 x 1200 but the quality really is as good as they say., this monitor is cherished as I know how rare it's becoming.
    As for 16:9 well consider this...
    App makers and windows itself never fully exploited the benefits of a wide screen. All menus and controls should always be on the left / right hand side, never at the top. I know it's possible because Adobe have done it in Lightroom.. Even web browsers got it wrong by putting tabs at the top of an already wide screen, why not on the left or right?
    Then look at websites, even after years of 16:9, web developers still don't fully exploit the format, often sites have huge blank bars either side of them.

    Most professional apps you mentioned are designed for Mac OS specially the Adobe apps as they’ve a special relation with and Macs which use a 16:10 so it will work best on that. When you look at the Ribbon UI in Ms office positioned horizontally you know it’s not meant for 16:9. I think it’s opposite for gaming. I like browsing and watching TH-cam on 16:10

    Thanks for well thought trough and made video.
    If I could suggest a minor tweak, that In my mind could make it even better it would be that You included the "basic specs and attributes" (physical sizes", connections and menus..."material and finish"..."what ever You find worth pointing out") AND your thoughts/reflections on these "attributes/features".
    Now I now that the "specs" can be found "anywhere" but it's still handy to have it "right here". AND more "importantly" I find it more interesting and relevant to hear what an actual user thinks about the "actual physical product in use" and it's "attributes/behaviours/performance", rather than trying to infer it from "spec sheets" or a multitude of different "partial reviews".
    Just a suggestion, and again thanks for a great video.
    Best regards

    I feel as though 16:9 was one step too narrow, and I say that as someone with a 16:9 "gaming" 1440p monitor.
    If I could go back and change my purchasing decision, I would have gotten the 16:10, and just accepted the black borders when watching videos. I barely ever watch videos in full screen anyway.

  • @timurbasyrov1773
    @timurbasyrov1773 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the comparison! After watching this video I've bought U2415. This monitor is really great, but I've got a problem - it hurts my eyes. I tried to use f.lux, adjust different monitor settings, but still can't find solution. I'm using it mostly for coding, so I'm reading/writing a lot of text. I really like this monitor and don't want to return it, hope to find the solution.
    I want to ask: do you use scaling on your U2415 (maybe 125%)?

    • @BoraMustafa
      @BoraMustafa  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to hear that man... my eyes only hurt after hours of intense editing. I don't use scaling actually, I bought the thing for the extra screen room, but try scaling and let me know if it helps.

    • @timurbasyrov1773
      @timurbasyrov1773 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry for late reply. Unfortunately, scaling didn't help me. I had to return U2415 back to the shop :( After that I've tried different models from other brands and in the end I've bought 27'' BenQ ew2770QZ. Finally my searches are over. It's a perfect monitor for my eyes.

    Thanx to your video i am using for less than a year an HP E24i (16:10, 1920x1200) monitor. It has a super effective 24% matte coating and a contrast of 700:1 for work at night (Brightness=0%, Contrast=0-5%) and 1000:1 during daytime (Brightness= 0%, Contrast= 25-35%). There is no IPS glow - perfect black corner to corner. Colors are awesome in Standard mode without calibration.
    I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to preserve their eye health.
    I used to have terrible bright light/blue light/PWM/glare sensitivity and now t`s all gone. What worked for me was the use of VGA cable on Windows 7 OS.
    This model U2415 was under consideration but I left it for its way too high price in my country and the coating.
    I have the following questions:
    1. I was wondering if you still use the U2415?
    2. Do you still consider 96ppi enough for video and image editing?
    I was thinking of buying an extra HP E24q (24 inch, 16:9, qHD) just for photo editing but not sure if the extra dpi is needed. Today all new FHD laptops of 15.6 inches have 140ppi pixel density. At the same time editing imags on 96ppi monitor shows plenty of detail for this "low" pixel density....
    Smart phones have often more than 400ppi pixel density but all images on web sites and social media are scaled properly regardless the pixel density of the images published. The only time 96ppi is a disadvantage is maybe when you send an image saved at 96ppi to someone with a FHD laptop screen with 140ppi where the image will be much smaller.
    Is this a sufficiant reason to go for a higher pixel density screen when I can easily upscale the image from 96ppi to 140ppi in Photoshop without much damage done on the image. Or should I just downsample the original high resolution image to 140 ppi as a file that needs to be printed on paper and send it over to the folks with 140ppi FHD laptop screens?
    3. Does the coating of U2415 is actually 24% haze matte or is semi-matte. Every time someone reviews this monitor (or any other Dell matte monitor) quite visible reflectios pop up whenever a bright thing is in front of the screen, not necessarily a light bulb , even a human face, hand, piece of paper etc. Can you confirm this?

      The external devices means...Keyboards,Monitors,modems,hdd etc.
      TFT Central men told that, The U2414H is a better option if you want to use external devices, or just prefer smaller/non- existent borders for your movies, films and games and those are more of a focus for you than general office work.

    I've been using a 16-10 Dell for 10 years and love it. Whenever I have to use a friend's 16-9, it feels cramped/squeezed vertically. 16-10 gives you extra room for toolbars, menus and taskbar rather than having them eat into the screenspace that would be availble with 16-9.

    • @freedonx
      @freedonx ปีที่แล้ว

      16:9 isn't the problem, it's the resolution of the monitor.
      A 1920x1080 is worse than 1900x1200 however that one is worse than a 16:9 of a Quad monitor. (2550x1400), but still a 16:9. Heck a 4K (3860x2060) is 16:9 and still being a 16:9 is worlds better than 1900x1200 (16:10).

    I don't like 16:9 either. I was used to 4:3 and CAD. Then when the 1920s came out CAD was always 1200 /16:10. However, with people working remotely off laptops and desktops with the standard 16:9 and using TVs as monitors, it makes a 16:10 difficult to read on these devices remotely.

    Although this is a decision video, I'm leaving a comment although I already have one. 16:10. Except mine isn't Dell, but Philips, white model, with a lightframe around it that can light in blue. 1680×1050. It's interesting cause even my tablet's aspect ratio is exactly 16:10 [at 8 inches]. I view pictures often, use music software [sweet, sweet bonus space from the resolution], even watch from time to time 4:3 videos, so they show even bigger for me. & all games are viewed just fine with no black bars for me. When I first got the monitor, I was confused if it was 16:10, 16:9, or 16:8, because I saw that small difference. & I'm really loving the way 16:10 works it all. I pretty much recommend it for all kinds of things, it's nice. Maybe hopefully in the future I could get even the 1920×1200 size as well. I think 16:10 is perfect. Even the colors are all just correct. Perfect. Nothing messed up.
    16/10. Get it? 16 out of 10.

    I will never buy 16:9. I find 16:10 so much better to work on. I have no idea why there are so few 16:10 models made :( It should be the standard. But when it comes to gaming 16:10 most of the time has a problem because games aren't designed for that resolution (they are designed for 16:9). What I mean by that is a lot of games I played would cut the sides to fit the view vertically (or stretch vertically if it doesn't cut the sides) which is a big problem when you can see less on the sides. It's sad cause you would think instead of seeing less on sides you would just see more on top and bottom but that isn't the case :( If you want full horizontal view you would have to play in 16:9 with black bars on the top and bottom of your screen which can fell bad.

    I did not quite understand.
    At a resolution of 1200p the text will look better, smoother? Compared to 1080p?
    I can not decide what to choose DELL U2419H or U2415.
    Or Dell P2319H - monitor
    23 inches with 1080p.
    I tried U2419 inch monitor with 1080p and monitor P2319H. But it was at different times. And it seemed to me that P2319H displayed text better.
    I need a monitor for working with text. WEB programming - PhpStorm, SublimeText, MicrosoftOffice.
    Please help me.
    I can not compare them, at the same time :(

    I just wish there were feature-packed gaming options in 16:10. Like the equivalent to my IPS 1440p 120hz 10-bit HDR400 monitor. Give me THAT (or an OLED is even better) in 16:10 and I'll buy TWO 28"-30" models for an over-under dual screen. Or perhaps better yet, a 50" 32:10 version. Heck, if they brought back 5:4 monitors, you could run them in portrait mode and have a 4:2 lower portion for games and a 4:3 upper portion for managing chat and your stream. It would be a 38" diagonal screen that's 30" tall and 24" wide, but still... If you want everything on ONE screen AND a bit of the "ultrawide" experience...

    The only thing 16:9 is good for is watching movies/shows and playing games. For anything productive or even web browsing, it's always better to have more vertical real estate rather than width. So given a choice, I would pick my 16:10 any day.

  • @cm01
    @cm01 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    How would you say 21:9 compares with 16:10 for productivity?

    • @BoraMustafa
      @BoraMustafa  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used a 21:9 while working freelance at an office for a few weeks. It depends what exactly you're doing but I found the screen a bit large. It was like sitting front row at the movies. I think I'd eventually get used to it and start using multiple windows on the same screen... I was still finding the second monitor they had useful... So the setup in the video still works the best for me. I understand that buying a monitor arm or finding space for two monitors poses challenges though.

    What's the pixel density? Also do they hurt your eye?

    • @BoraMustafa
      @BoraMustafa  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      A quick google search shows
      U2414h = 92ppi
      U2415 = 94ppi
      My eyes only dry out after long video editing sessions due to not blinking enough.
      So I take breaks and eye drops.
