Yeah mine get zoomies all the time when play out in the backyard, and they get short evening zoomies every other night when inside. On rainy days where they're inside, lots of night zoomies. I'll throw a ball and they chase it like dogs around the yard, or I play tag with them. Its really funny. 😂
We called it a 'Mad half hour' release of energy and some times we could join in by playing chase me or catch me. Extends your cat's experience, knowledge, fitness and FUN.
As my kitten grew into an adult, he wanted to go outside but I didnt know it. Then Iooked up from reading one day and saw a black blur moving ON my living room wall half way between floor and ceiling all around the room I did not see my cat. I saw a blur. They are bizarre creatures, endlessly amusing and amazing.
Cats will run away from the litter box instinctively so as to escape any predator that might catch their scent. Two of our cats do this all the time. They go potty then zoom to the other end of the house. Their antics are quite entertaining.
Cats can hear up to 64 kiloHertz so maybe they are reacting to the the sounds of insects and the ultrasonic cries of baby mice, stuff way beyond the range of human hearing.
I know that many dogs respond by howling to ultrasonic signals placed in TV ads. Signals we can't hear but dogs can cause them to seems to "sing along" to specific ads. The signals in the ads are intended to be picked up by apps on your cell phone to confirm to advertisers that the ad was shown.
@@Robert08010 This is not possible. The audio sound channel on TV is band limited to about 16 kiloHertz, which is the range of hearing of most adult humans. Ultrasound simply cannot get through, it would be filtered out by the audio bands of all the circuitry from the studio to the the sound circuits of the television. Furthermore, the audio codecs used in digital television systems compress the sound data by removing all the components that are inaudible to the human ear - inaudible sounds to codecs are just extraneous data they don't want to carry. The audio codecs used by cell phones do something similar - the algorithm will just block any ultrasound. Having said that, there could be unintentional audio feedback in the sound circuit of the TV that could be producing an ultrasonic howl around that will disturb animals - I think that's plausible. Furthermore, in the days of analogue cathode ray tube TVs - with powerful scanning electromagnets deflecting the electron beam - the television scanning itself might have caused components to vibrate at an ultrasound harmonic - I think that also is plausible. When I was a little kid - when my hearing was keenest - I could tell if a household had the TV on - even when I was at the bottom of the drive way - because I could hear the whistle of the TV scanning. Lastly, advertisers can confirm if an ad was shown by watching the show. I believe there are monitoring agencies employed to watch tv shows to confirm ads. There is a rumour that Samsung TVs have a microphone pickup - an ad transmission could be confirmed simply by listening for the soundtrack of the ad - but it is only a rumour - it is probably an urban myth. To confirm an ad was shown they don't have to do anything as complicated as you describe - which is impossible anyway.
One of my cat's, Lily, gets the zoomies when she wants to play. She will come in the house, she's an indoor/outdoor cat, put on her play tail and invites the dog or one if the other cats, to chase her. She also does a long stretch we call "Stretchy-puss ...." and she will slowly stretch out as far as she can stretching while I say stretch....! This is her favorite trick and she lives showing her stretch to people. I have 5 cats which are rescues and soon to have 3 more rescues. I live in the wheat fields of the Palouse in Washington state and Besides loving cats, they also help keep the mice and vole population down. ❤
My cat gets the zoomies; I call her my little barrel racer for the way she can go around chairs. When she was a few months younger and sitting on an empty bookshelf about eighteen inches away from me, I suddenly sneezed and then realized she'd zoomed by me and was now on the same side of the room about six feet away from me and I apologized for scaring her.
It seemed that one of our cats got the zoomies just BEFORE leaving a big stinker in the cat box. So when we'd see him make a fast run we could count on a visit to the cat box soon after.
It depends on whether they are outdoor cats or not. Outdoor cats rarely run around when indoors but indoor cats do so often. Outdoor cats often hunt, whether waiting at an occupied rodent hole for a resident to venture away from safety or chasing down a rabbit or bird. Indoor cats don't have the same opportunity.
My cat's zoomies often happens shortly after mealtime so I believe it's a result of elevated blood sugar levels. Additionally, I believe this behavior is sometimes a tactic employed by our cat in order to be let out of the house to play. Certainly, after being let out of the house our cat often goes into zoomies mode.
My cat doesn't do zoomies, she sleeps all night next to me, only getting up to use her litter tray. As for picking up on your emotions, not my cat. I was moaning, writhing in pain for over 6 hours before a doctor came out, what did my cat do, yep she gave me one look then went to sleep on the bed!
My day usually to the sound my cats chasing each other up and down the stairs. A kind of race you to the top of hill thing, maybe some play fighting and run back down the stairs. There is always the "Ambush" as well as they hide on the stairs and jump through the railings as another cat passes by. Idon't care and smile to myself as I know they are happy with their games,
Humans put their hands over their ears at loud noises. A cat simply folds his ears back tight, and also does that during cat fight screams and added protection of an ear being bitten off.
When it comes to snacks or treats, anything that has onion powder or garlic powder is a huge no no in our house. One of our cats got ahold of some pizza that ended up costing us 1500 dollars in vet bills in order to save her. We are way more carful now when it comes to human foods and our cats. ;)
Hi, from Southern Ontario Canada. I just came acrosss this channel. Subbed and will be givin likes. I like your approach and your voice is cool, as some content creators can have annoying voices. I have always liked cats, as there has been cats in life now for a constant thirty plus years and about four years as a kid. I adore my senier tomcat " Boo Boo " He has a Garfield personality, which makes for never a dull moment in this house. As I type this, he is sitting beside me leaning in on me, thinking up some new way of getting into trouble. I look forward to watching more of your content. I also feel for the horrible things your country of Ukraine have been dealing with. I hope you have been able to stay safe. Good thoughts from across the world friend.
Cats are Apex Predators in Nature. Zoomies are the way domesticated Cats release their built up energy as they no longer hunt. A Zoomie Cat is a happy and healthy Cat!
This is not correct. Remove the word "Apex" from this description, please. There are plenty of predators, from larger cats (lynx, bobcats, etc.), coyotes, owls and other birds of prey, which will kill and eat a house cat without thinking twice about it. You're not an apex predator, unless there is no other predator that will normally hunt you. Are cats amazingly skilled and efficient predators? Oh, yes! But that is not described by the term "apex". I blame Hollywood for pushing a term they know nothing about.
My cat has zoomies after a trip to litter box for bms She doesnt have perisites. She does this ,after I go to bed also, I laugh and praise her for running& jumping. We have meow conversations. She also says momma.😊
i grew up with cats and sometimes had trouble getting to sleep. i remember hearing them running up and down the hall at home (my room was at one end of it) and was always a bit amused by it :) i always just thought it was them getting stir-crazy because they were indoor/outdoor cats and were anxious to get out into the yard again
Zoomies are fun to watch 😅 Especially at Christmas when my father brough fir tree in the livingroom. Our two cats went crazy, it was like a catnip to them and of course it was fun to chase after insects that came along with it 🤣🐛🕷️
My kitty woke me up one morning with the zoomies up and down the living room. It was hunting behavior all right. Somehow a pigeon had gotten into the house, and the chase was on!

You left out Cold Air. Our cats sit and watch squirrel tv in the morning when we have coffee, even in winter, the screen door is glass, we throw unsalted nuts out and the actors show up, everyone is entertained, and then the zoomies start, zoom upstairs, sounds like a herd of elephants! LOL Racing back down, and we have tile on the front foyer, with a rag rug, they love racing on that and landing it in a heap, while doing a u turn at the bottom of the stairs on the way to the dining room and if we have the back door to the porch open, they'll hit the cat tree back there and do the whole run through the house again. LOL // one cat will look straight up, for quite some time, I can only imagine what she's looking at. Our cat that passed away last March, was a freakin opera queen. and a stealer of poultry from your plate. couldn't turn your back on her. LOL But these cats, are weird! they will not eat chicken, or any poultry or beef like human food. but they prefer canned. won't sit and watch us have coffee. LOL get that squirrel tv going. ( and they will charge the door for a blue jay or crow. )
2:53 I feel REALLY bad for that poor cat... WTF is that supposed to be anyway?!? That is NOT a litter box for a cat! Hardly ANY litter AT ALL!! The human parent should be ashamed!
My lady friend had this usually lethargic Persian cat. One day in a large glassed in back patio, it suddenly rocketed around on tables and furniture and stuff around three walls. I have NEVER seen a cat move that fast before or after. I didn't know that much speed from a little cat was possible. I don't know any reason for it. Sometimes the cat would wake up and run (although not that fast) into another room and then lay down to sleep again. It's like the cat woke up thinking "Hey! I'm in the wrong room."
Our house is on a hill and is 3 stories. All floors have a door to the outside at ground level, as well as several windows with wide sills. Zoomies occur when they see another cat, or squirrel, or raccoon outside. They have to run up or down steps and to the next vantage point to watch their new friend outside.
My girl gets the zoomies when I get home from work. She gets so happy to see me she has to let everyone in the house know I am home. Sometimes they try to outrun their litter box smell.
One of my cats does this whenever he needs to poop 😂 he acfually has a cat wheel that he will run onto. He seems to run to help him go to the bathroom easier
I absolutely love it when it's zoomies time with my cat which is usually twice, sometimes three times a day she covers the whole house then jumps into my wheelchair (when I'm out of it sitting on the sofa) then does circles on the cushion chasing her tail before another round of zoomies it's funny af to watch even at daft o clock🤣
I knew a guy once that called me dingleberry. When he finally told me what it was I said you're calling me a little ball of s___? (At least it wasn't a boyfriend, it was a guy at work!😮
My cat, Splash, loves to try anything that I eat. It doesn't matter what it is. She still wants a taste, or at the very least, a good sniff of. So far, sour cream, shrimp, madhed potatoes, popcorn, whipped cream, cream cheese, blueberry yogurt, cheesecake, Spicy Chicken Fajitas (not hot), green olives, cherry & strawberry icecream, saltine crackers, Swiss cheese, Black Forest Ham, Smoked Turkey Breast, Beef hotdogs, Potatoes Obrien, Roasted chicken, and a few others including some vegetables like peas, carrots, cooked onions, all diced up very small and soft. She is always very curious about what we cook and anything we eat. She is very sweet and polite, and even if it is something she had previously not liked, she is always down with trying it again. She is a rescue cat that I got when she was less than a year old. Very timid and shy, at first. We cautiously explore outdoors, but she is afraid of all other animals and people. She gets the dreaded Zoomies late at night, just before bedtime. She is my companion now, more or less, replacing my late wife. She knows the distinct sound of my Jeep and goes to the window to make sure that it is me and Im ok. Im handicapped and sometimes it is pretty severe. If Im doing badly, she gets my son to come out and help me. She waits at the door to greet me and then to go outside and roll around on the walkway.
My Fiona does zoomies. When my mom's cat was still alive, they would chase each other around the house and up and down the stairs. She still runs like that and I think it's her and her pal's spirit chasing each other the way the always did.
My cat Sylvester did the zoomies a lot when he was a little kitten. He still does it mostly in the morning but, not as much. I think it's how he gets his exercise.
Number 5 is just wrong. Every pet owner knows what the zoomies are and it is not the same thing as when a pet reacts to a fright. Zoomies are about pent up energy and the need to blow off some steam. In the case of a fright, the panic flight ends quickly (as soon as the cat realizes it is not in danger) while the zoomies can go on for a while. And also, there was NOTHiNG in this entire video that was specific to cats. Dogs get the zoomies too and for the same reasons. My upstairs a neighbor takes their dog out at 3am for a mid-night poo and when they bring him back in, he does the zoomies for 15 minutes. Forget dingleberries; its far more likely its just too uncomfortable to run around like a wild thing with a butt full of poo for fear they might have an accident. But after wards, when the risk is low, they can express all the exuberance they want without any fear.
Mom used to have a large house cat. She'd (lol the cat, not my mom) start in the hallway, run the width of the house, and slide on the rug in the entryway. The rug would always be pushed up against the entry door. Only she didn't really run. It sounded more like a gallop.
Our female cat follows us to the bathroom when we have 'to go' and I think she is defending us. Going to the toilet, whether cats or humans, we are defenseless and an easy target for predators, so I think she is trying to protect us. In the same was I think she gets the zoomies after doing a poop because she is prone and also an easy target, so as soon as she's done, she runs away from the danger zone ... she could also just be put off by the smell
Dreaded Zoomies? I Never dread it. I laugh and celebrate it. I love it when she runs like crazy. No matter what time of the day it is. It is never obnoxious at all. Not to me...

Zooming after a poo is also a way to put distance between the scent on the poo and the cat so predators have more trouble tracking them by the poo.

Yeah mine get zoomies all the time when play out in the backyard, and they get short evening zoomies every other night when inside. On rainy days where they're inside, lots of night zoomies. I'll throw a ball and they chase it like dogs around the yard, or I play tag with them. Its really funny. 😂
My cat's favourite toy is a self-rolling ball. It also glows. If you turn it the right colour, she goes absolutely nuts.
I'm convinced that when riva went zoomies after having a poo that she was celebrating !
Yeah. I do that too.
They get the zooms because they're cute
Ours get the zoomies when they've been sleeping and wake up, usually after a litterbox trip.
We called it a 'Mad half hour' release of energy and some times we could join in by playing chase me or catch me. Extends your cat's experience, knowledge, fitness and FUN.
My cats would engage in zoomies on our stairs at 3:00am. Every day.
My cats throughout the years freak me out when they get that look like they saw a ghost.
Right after watching this video, my cat got the zoomies. He must have said, hey what a great idea!! Zooooooooooooom!!
Going to the toilet can be stressful because it puts them in a vulnerable position. That stress needs to be zoomed away!
We are way more carful now when it comes to human foods and our cats. ;)
Wow, that's some expensive pizza!
@@Robert08010 Haha. For sure.
My cat has zoomies after a trip to litter box for bms
She doesnt have perisites.
She does this ,after I go to bed also, I laugh and praise her for running& jumping. We have meow conversations. She also says momma.😊
i grew up with cats and sometimes had trouble getting to sleep. i remember hearing them running up and down the hall at home (my room was at one end of it) and was always a bit amused by it :) i always just thought it was them getting stir-crazy because they were indoor/outdoor cats and were anxious to get out into the yard again
post litter-box-visit "victory lap" 🤣
7:45 my oldest always runs around each time I get home
Mine literally runs circles in the bathtub if he follows me Into the bathroom
woggies have zoomies too. I've seen horsies have zoomies too. Even little kids (children not goats) sometimes have zoomies
Mine does that all the time. She has a lot of energy. Even though she gets to to outside..
This describes my cat to a T. The only reason why it's 'Dreaded' is because he runs into our legs.
It can be anytime of the day but definitely without fail it’s when it’s bedtime 🤦🏻♂️😂wow 😂
I Love It When My 3 Indoor Kitties 😻😻😻 Get The Zoomies Especially At The Same Time!!! Shalom And Amen!✝️✝️🛐🛐😇🌟🤗🙏🙏🙏🇨🇦🇬🇧🇮🇱♾️🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🗽🦅❤❤❤‼️
I love watching cats have 'zoomy' sessions where they do corner leaps that sends them back into the opposite direction without stopping. #CatParkour
You are a genius. This video is the most artistic innovative, an original thing I’ve ever seen. You are the most original artist on par with the greatest composers in the world. Thank you so much deserving of billions a video views, thank you so much.
My Jen 😺 gets zoomies after every poop 💩. I think its just the relief of GETTING it over with. After all what human ISN'T happy after taking a big dump LOL 🤣😺
We just called it The Crazy Run Arounds. They run because they feel like running. It seems enjoyable to them, we find it entertaining.
Man,I had this cool white angora cat he would put down his paws fast and hard around 2 30 am most every night......I would be half awake, laughing, sometimes he would come launch himself onto my bed and we would roll around and laugh. I miss roadie.
I ❤ cat and dog zoomies! They get this crazed look 👀 and zooooom !!! It’s adorable
I always just assumed they were fire drills. With the occasional sound of something getting broken off-stage.
I think cats might zoom after the litter box because the scent of their pee/poop can attract predators. It's why they usually bury their waste.
Our house is on a hill and is 3 stories. All floors have a door to the outside at ground level, as well as several windows with wide sills. Zoomies occur when they see another cat, or squirrel, or raccoon outside. They have to run up or down steps and to the next vantage point to watch their new friend outside.
The architecture of your home sounds like a cat’s dream. 😂
You lost me at "dreaded" zoomies.
I love it.
My girl gets the zoomies when I get home from work. She gets so happy to see me she has to let everyone in the house know I am home.
Sometimes they try to outrun their litter box smell.
Mine zoom and don't change their trajectory despite obstacles, even if that obstacle is me.
One of my cats does this whenever he needs to poop 😂 he acfually has a cat wheel that he will run onto. He seems to run to help him go to the bathroom easier
I call it *”the goobies”*
- aww.. Ezmay is doing the good again!
7:19 EXTERME ZOOMIES with AT LEAST one Broken lamp a torn to shreds curtain and at least one cup
@@davidfitzpatrick6535 hahahahaha 😆!!!
You may need to play with your cat more often!
Zoomies are like us taking a newspaper to the loo.
DINGLE BERRIES 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I knew a guy once that called me dingleberry. When he finally told me what it was I said you're calling me a little ball of s___?
(At least it wasn't a boyfriend, it was a guy at work!😮
@@donnagarner6007 🤣🤣🤣
Fresh dingle berries no less.
Its hard to be held captive all of the time...got to blow of steam sometimes!
So wise , Thank You . I read it as Zombies
😅 mine gets them once or twice a day and makes me laugh
Crepuscular? New word to weaponize!
My cat does this through the night and sometimes wakes me up, she sleeps most of the day
Cats are amazing animals, better companions, better friends, and better than dogs over all.
