All self-proclaimed cat "experts" like to offer up their interpretations, seen through human eyes, of what they _think_ every imaginable aspect of feline behavior means. Some explanations are self-evident, and some are a real stretch... especially if there's a financial incentive involved. Most people seem to buy even the stupidest claims, including the one that the so-called "expert" is really an expert at all. All I know for certain, is cats dig me... almost instantly. My then-future wife's parents had two cats, one that they claimed was never overly friendly to anyone, let alone a stranger. He took an instant liking to me and would let me pick him up and gently swing him around. I'd swing him out in a horizontal position, then reach one arm under him, and he'd land gently cradled in my arms. There was no way he'd let anybody else do that. My future in-laws were amazed and from that point on, I could do no wrong (as far as _they_ knew...) 😏

Truly an amazing critter who gave me a lot of fond memories :)
All of the female kitties I’ve had were like this with me. I sure miss all the ones that have crossed the rainbow bridge. But I know I will see them again when my time comes and we will spend eternity together. ❤️♥️🥰😘😻🙏✝️
My male cat does that every night when we go to bed. He will lay on top of my side letting me pet him for quite some time and then all of a sudden he will turn around and put his head down and his butt up in my face and he has gone to sleep in that position
A friend of mine had a wonderful cat that lived with him & guarded him - especially sensitive to his mood and psychological distress - she would always know if he was depressed. I watched this relationship for years. This cat made a nest in his sock drawer. She was specifically drawn to a anything he wore on his feet. She would put her head deep inside his shoes, I have seen her do this. I mainly had male cats and they can sometimes react the same way. One cat would always stay close to me if I had a fever or was ill in bed. He also understood if I was sad or depressed - so much so that I am very sure he understood what depression was, even in a human.
My female cat comes to protect me if I make a loud sound. I think she thinks I'm hurt or in trouble and she comes to sniff my face and lick me. It's the sweetest thing!! 🥺🥰
Our girls are great to have around & seem to be much more easy going than the guys we've had in the past. We did have 3 girls until yesterday because sadly we had to have the oldest put to sleep due to infirmity due to old age, we had her 18.5 years though & she's always been a joy to keep. She now rests in her favourite spot under the pear tree we have.
I typically have male cats but the females I do have have taken my clothes and even plushies for their nests, one we had liked to perch on shoulders and my current one likes to perch on my fiancé’s (her daddy) leg. All of my cats follow me around the house at all times and cuddle close at all times because I frequently have health issues and anxiety attacks. None of my females have ever tucked me in at night but my beloved male cat (whom we mistook as female at first and named Alice) would tuck me in at night and snuggle close to make sure I was warm since I notice the cold more than anyone else in my house. Now that job has been taken over by my current cats (my male, Boomer, who always grooms me and stops at nothing to make sure I’ve had my thyroid meds every day even going so far as to knock the bottle down to get my attention, and my females, Angel and Vio). Every cat I’ve owned or lived with has always actively taken care of me when I can’t take care of myself(sickness, sleeping, etc.) in their own little ways. Cats are truly remarkable ❤
my female cat isn't as perceptive of my emotional episodes.. she also is pretty independent but has been more clingly as of late because I am pregnant. But usually she doesn't even look at me when I say goodbye to her when i leave.
I’ve always had female cats myself. My mom and sister had male cats and I just wasn’t all that close with them. My cat came in and talked to me a little bit before nuzzling me, licking my hand a couple of times and then curled up on my pillow next to my head. She lets my youngest daughter carry her around sometimes even though she really doesn’t like being picked up at all except by me. When I was pregnant with my youngest son she wanted to lay on my chest or across my lap by my belly.
For my experience, female cat are more loving, clingy, always following me, and she doesn't wanna be touch by other human but me. It's so different with my late male cat.
ya my female cats have always been more clingy, and my boy cats liked everyone, but female liked to be with me the most while the boys will hang out with anyone that enters the home and the female could care less about strangers lol.
Idk if it was mentioned in this video, but I have a female kitty and she grooms me often lol. My male cat will lick me, but she full on "bathes" me haha 😂😂
My dog did the same lol.😊 Or maybe I should elaborate. My dog would sleep only on my clothes that I put on the bed. But those were not old but some I used to wear that day. And my mums cat would purr like mad when I played with her. ❤
Nipping/biting is called "love bites" and "play bites" and has three purposes - Disciplinary, affection and play. Disciplinary is already covered. "Love bites" get your attention so a cuddle session can commence. Love bites also occur during the session - kinda like when humans sometimes gnaw on each other during surges of affection. "Play bites" are how cats initiate play with each other so they assume it works on you. Whether your cat is relaxed or riled up is how you can tell the difference so act accordingly. If your cat bites too hard (they usually test pressure over time) then make a soft distressed noise and gently take your appendage away from them. They will figure it out pretty quickly. BTW, not all cats perform love/play biting as many cats were trained out of it when younger by people who didn't understand the language their cat was trying to communicate with.
One of my female cat, she lived with us from her birth, used to sit on the fridge, observing everything, throwing paws if someone come near her. She was the cutest unfortunately we lost her couple of weeks back due to viral.
YES my Jen at 6 months old started stealing my underwear and socks. Then made a nest of them under my bed 😁. I DIDN'T notice it until I realized my items were missing. LOL 🤣😅❤
My little baby girl is definitely very clingy. I think male cats are more social overall, and female cats get more attached overall. But that's just an average, your cat could be completely different.
i have 2 female cats. both are the opposite of each other. 1 is affectionate, gentle and very clingy. 1 is quite snobbish, a bit rough but clingy sometimes. 1 is calm, another 1 is always chaotic. the differences between them are their age, history of birthing and nurturing kittens and the places i picked them from. the gentle one - 2 years older, history of birthing and nurturing kittens at least 2 times before i saved her from the street/shop lot, and spayed in a vet clinic. the rough "tomboy" one is 2 years younger, never got pregnant or mating because she was spayed early. she was birthed in the same vet clinic by a stray mama cat, meaning she was basically born and brought up in a safe home/place, never been exposed to the streets. she was given to me by the vet because the clinic have too many kittens lmao and i teh 1st cat need a friend. so i brought both of them to my home and never looked back. i'm happy i love them both so dearly.
I've met many cats, mostly outdoor cats (from neighborhood or stray). The main difference I've noticed is, that males are a bit more courageous. If I call a cat I've never seen before, and it comes to me and meows, it's usually male. But when I pet a cat and it starts to lick me, it's usually female. I have a female cat I've taken from street, and she loves to lick and groom my hand. She's very affectionate, often clingy, but a little bit shy, when other people here. She can make friends with anybody, but it takes few minutes of getting courage.
The only behavior I can think of as being exclusive to any of my female cats, my last cat Rizzo was like my shadow. She followed me everywhere. However, she also suffered from separation anxiety so that's not a gendered thing. As for these other behaviors, I've either seen them in both male and female cats we've owned or neither. Especially with the hunting. Sure, our cat Biggie Smalls was a good hunter when she was younger but her brother, Buckwheat, has managed to catch several hummingbirds and while it is upsetting, it's proof that he was a better hunter. He also caught larger prey like voles and birds while Biggie usually caught prey like flies, snakes, lizards, and skinks. She also has never been too interested in being up high, much preferring to stay low. Buckwheat, however, used to climb on top of our refrigerator in our two story house. He climbed onto the second story roof more than once, and also used to climb up our redwood tree all without front claws. He has always been more like how they described "female cats".
@FoxxyFire-HellFrost that is not exclusively female. Most of the cats I've had have been male, and all bit 2 of them have, and are, the biggest snuggles bugs. Tgey want to be near me, on me, or following me alk the time. One of them even jumps up on my shoulder to get my attention when I'm busy getting things done around the housr
@lovefortruth3414 I know. I was demonstrating that their sex doesn't define their behavior traits. They are what they are because of individual personalities.
I had a female cat who had been declawed and had lost all of her teeth. Even without claws and teeth, she still was able to catch mice! I remember seeing her walking around carrying a mouse my the scuff once and I thought it was just one of her toys, was quite the surprise when she dropped it and it ran off... My current female cat has claws and she is a mouse hunting professional. She's an indoor cat but I live in the woods so mice often find a way into the basement and she takes them out as fast as they can get inside. Like a month ago she brought me a baby mouse that was dead and I thought it was gross but after cleaning it up, I figured it was over. It was not, that night she brought up a total of FOUR dead baby mice and one adult! Must have been a nest or something but she got them all thankfully, just wish she didn't have to show every single one off forcing me to throw them away. At this point it's just expected that I'm going to find one every few weeks, the basement is filled with boxes and I can't even imagine how many are down there that I don't know about 💀
My female as well as male cats follw me everywhere they could be in a deep sleep at the moment and since I've left the area and all will get up to be where I am currently at.
Hahaha, my first cat was a lady, and if I was crying she went "NOPE" and left the room. The boys went "why you crying, Mama? 🥺" The clingiest cat we've had, my shadow, was male. Climbing up high is 2/5 (one male, one female). The only consistent behaviour I've noticed between the female and male cats is that the females have been more prone to licking me, especially the one that I know had a litter before I adopted her. So far, only the boys have been interested in hunting - at least enough to catch something. All of them were spayed/neutered, so maybe that's why there haven't been major differences between them.
That butt pose that you were talking about you kept showing two different poses saying it's the same thing so which one is the pose that you are actually speaking of the one where they're laying down and the back legs are sticking straight out on either side are the one where they're standing up with the butt up in the air
These are not things only female cats do. Male cats do these things too. I’ve had many cats, mostly male, but also female. Gender in cats does not dictate behaviors or temperament.
On the hunter point, you'd have to specify in what context are they better hunters. I've had both male and female outdoor cats over the years, and the females definitely tended to catch high quantities of small prey. The males on the other hand would take down rabbits, squirrels, relatively large fish, a few turtles, snakes, and even a duck once. If we're grading on quality, I'd say the males (in my experience) are the better hunters. The males I had would never bother with bugs either, but the females would frequently hunt and eat them.
One of my Torties (both are 5F) sometimes takes an interest in the open door of my dryer every time that I do laundry. She may be looking for a new place to nest. She can be very persistent trying to get into the dryer. edit: I recently got a new desk chair (some assembly required) shipped to my home and I gave the empty box to my cats to play with. My Niece likes to pop bubble wrap and I sometimes get a package with large pillow size bubbles that she loves to pop. I had some saved and one of my Torties (no idea which) has dragged all of the pillow bubbles that I had into the big box from the chair to make a nest. I can sometimes hear her crinkling a bit in the plastic bubbles when she moves around and some have been popped already because they still have their claws.
Taking clothes: 1 million percent!!! She's my Mom's cat, but I did help raise her and I stay at Mom's house sooooo often due to my multiple chronic diseases. I'm married but I tend to need my Mom's help a lot. Plus most of my doctors are close to my Mom's house, my childhood home. I don't drive so it's easier for me to stay there bc appts tire me out most of the time. I think this is why her cat steals my clothes too. It's so funny and adorable. There's a male cat who is more "my cat". He does it too so I leave an item for each it of them when I visit.
I don't have experience of female cats since my parents had three boycats. They were really interested in climbing, the higher the better. Doors and cuppords and such 😯 😅 They would also hunt a lot and kept following my mother where ever she was going 🐁👀👀 They would also sleep in the warddrope 😅😍
Lived with both male and female cats. Yes on occasions the male cat will catch a mouse of course and usually just plays and toys with it. The little lady catches them almost on a daily basis with more than one normally and birds too. Not so much play but just plainly eats them! Do just have to add I love birds, feed them and although loving my female cat, I do feel sorry for the birds and sometimes the mice too. Am sure many animal and bird lovers are in that position too! That's nature. Bless God's cats, mice and birds! 🙏
This comment’s for both the male and female cat differences videos. ALL cats’ instincts is to sit/sleep high. I’ve had cats of both sexes all my life and known many more - no difference in affection is discernible. The only differences (except those I agree with in the vids) I’ve ever noticed are the obvious: un-spayed females go into heat and un-neutered males spray and roam (given that cats should be desexed as soon as possible, this doesn’t really matter though). Males’ urine is slightly more pungent even after neutering. Males also show lordosis when patted at the root of the tail. You contradict yourself: in the male video you say he is the better hunter and in the female one that she is! I would say the female is the better (as in all species of cat). Play shows no differences between sexes - personality and whether the cat was reared by a cat mother dictates the roughness, not sex. (Cat mums teach her kittens to not bite and scratch). Feistiness is more pronounced in the female- not the male - for the same reasons as her superior hunting ability: protect and care for her offspring. Another contradiction: females “protect “ and males “guard “ their owners. So in other words: both behave more of less the same! All males I’ve had have been total (and adorable) cowards whilst the females have been the ones prepared to defend their territory.
My 5 year old female cat follows me everywhere. She likes to sleep on my walker so she goes where I go during the day. She sleeps near me at night and will check on me if I get up.
My Calico does these things. She's a daddy's girl for sure. She was a young mother but lost her kittens when she was a stray. I adopted her when she was still recovering from malnutrition and was very skinny. Took some time to get her healthy but she had good spirit to her. She's spoiled rotten these days pretty sure she's aware of that. What else can I say other than yeah she's my baby.
The one about my female cat after babies. Once my female had a litter kittens stay and help her the whole time she was having them I petted her she laid on my arm but when she had kittens weaned she don't have to ever come to me she wants nothing to do with me I don't know why
I have a 7 month black cat 🐈⬛ and we got her when she was almost 3 months and she is always scared of everything that moves, she doesn’t let anyone touch her or pet her. It saddens me a lot 😢
I know one of my female tabby cats like sleeping on my bed next to me but she does try to scratch the end of my bed base and she always wants to me around me and my other female likes getting som affection
Well, the liquid in the womb of pregnant women and animals has a very specific smell. If you have a good smell sensitivity, you can actually know if they are pregnant.
can you explain to us in the next videos why cats KNOWS and VISIT their brethren's grave? i have several cats when i was 9 yo, but this behavior seems prominent in male cats. my male cat was once leave my home to expand his territory in my neighborhood (he was an absolute giga chad. i can't even lift him up due to his size). a year later, his little sister got an accident, my neighbor hit her on the head which give her permanent brain damage, and 3 month later, she was died from it. i buried her in my lawn. few months after i bury her, her big brother return to my home. he was just...sit there, right in front of her grave, for almost an hour, until his nephew shows up and hit him playfully. this also happens when the same cat died. he come back home right before he died (he is very old now). so i buried him few meters away from his sister grave. the nephew i mentioned earlier start doing that sit to his uncle's grave as well for an hour. his female siblings never does that and i found it weird, especially how they know where their significant other was buried
My girl, Money is the second female I’ve had. I’m on my third male. My girl loves my lap. Oh she’s a real lap girl. She loves to sit in the chair I use when I do my art. My girl is so affectionate like her brother. She’s the morning and afternoon lap shift and night lap shift when her brother is done in my lap.
ooohh yer 😅😅😅I have a princess (she is the queen of the pack) and she wants to have cash with me and I ignore a bit (for fun) or just don't see it, then she can find a shelf with some of my things on it and knock them down on the floor (and it's only my things she does it with) so I know I haven't listened to what she says🤣🤣 , she always uses sign language when she wants something from me (want me to do something) then she pokes me a little with her paw and shows what she wants (e.g. some wet food) . when I once got a virus on my ears (so I was almost deaf for a long time) she found out that by using the glass uro I have in the window (quietly hit it and it beeped and made a sound ) then I could hear that sound, so every time she wanted to have contact with me she turned it on until I heard the sound, and when I got my hearing back she abruptly stopped doing this and switched to talking and puffing to me again . ☺ so of course I know all about feeling like someone she takes care of and brings up on me if I don't listen to what she says😅🥰
Idk i feel like i would like to find a cat whisper or someone that knows about cats around my area. To find out if my cat really loves me 😢 but mostly to let her know i love her so very much before she leaves my side one day. I feel like when i first got her i was going through hard times and really wasnt there for her fully. She came to me when i was going through depression tbh. I feel my cat resents me. She is loving but i feel theres something is keeping her from me and me from her. Because shes not like other cats she hates when i touch her i still do. She only goes to me when i feel real bad shell purr when i am sick or going through an emotional Rollercoaster. I hate that those are the only times shes willing to cuddle and be there for me to love her. Idk i been thinking about this lately because shes now 14 yrs and i still see her like shes my kitten when i first got her. 😔 i hope she knows i love her deeply. ❤
There are a lot of ridiculous cat videos on TH-cam, but this one is among the silliest. I have had a lot of cats, and I find that most differences in behavior among cats--at least the ones which have been neutered/spayed--are more attributable to breed, upbringing and personality ("catality?") than gender. Granted, un-"fixed" cats may be a different story.
I've had or been around cats my whole life and every cat will have it's own distinct personality. Color has nothing to do with it. Having said that, there is alot of difference between boys and girls. Girls are more serious and don't leave for days. They keep smaller territories and claim a male member of the family like she owns them sometimes being very jealous. Girl cats act like human girls. Alot. Not a bad thing. A female cat can change personalities midlife. The boys however are like human boys. They are more expeditious and daring sometimes stupidly. Boys don't claim one person but can claim everyone. They will also get jealous and will bully other cats with their size. Boy cats are more cuddly with women and girls stick with their 'owner'. Which isn't the correct word because anyone that's had a cat understands cats are their own masters.
I can infact say that my female cat does hord my clothes and hands them in some of the strangest places. Behind the couch, under the bed, be hond the cat food ben and will even just hide herself in my dresser
I saw the clickbait, and yes I clicked, but just to see what they got so so wrong. I needed the laugh; and gods, I needed the laugh I got. Lordosis, pfft. That is not what lordosis is!
These traits have nothing to do with cats being female, I’m guessing they included that as some form of clickbait or trying to farm engagement from people pointing it out in the comments, which I am falling for right now.

I wonder if the distinctions are not true or as true for spayed/neutered cats.

Just remember the cat is the boss, and you are their pet.
that is more a reflection of you rather than how cats actually are
if they act this way around its mostly because you never showed boundaries
and or actually reprimanded or disciplined them when they were young
so of course they think they are the boss you raised them this way
always remember if what they are doing would not be cute or ok when they are grown
you can not allow them to do it while they are still kittens .
just look at how a mothercat treats their kids and do the same
obviously never be cruel or actually hurt your kittens just do not allow them to walk all over you
a little tap of a finger a little push , grabbing them by the scruff of their neck when they do something wrong
is enough to teach them not to do it

All cats do all of those things. Nice try.
If neutered or spayed(as case might be), male v female hardly matters
Yep
my female cat isn't as perceptive of my emotional episodes.. she also is pretty independent but has been more clingly as of late because I am pregnant.
I love cats❤❤❤
For my experience, female cat are more loving, clingy, always following me, and she doesn't wanna be touch by other human but me. It's so different with my late male cat.
ya my female cats have always been more clingy, and my boy cats liked everyone, but female liked to be with me the most while the boys will hang out with anyone that enters the home and the female could care less about strangers lol.
My baby Elizabeth is all of this .. I love my cat so much lol
Idk if it was mentioned in this video, but I have a female kitty and she grooms me often lol. My male cat will lick me, but she full on "bathes" me haha 😂😂
Me too!
Same
My cat Dolly sleeps on an old pair of my jeans
My dog did the same lol.😊
Or maybe I should elaborate.
I remember my cat always stealing my socks and shirts to make a pile that she would disappear into at times.
My pussycat sleeps in my lap a lot . She also follows me from room to room.
My baby sleeps in my clothes, on her perch, or on top of me❤❤❤she’s always my shadow too!🥰 I love my baby, what an awesome Siamese baby🥰🥰🥰😻😻😻
my torti dead ass growl like a dog when she see someone outside 😂😂
I love my two little girls! 🥰
And actually she's a good hunter.
Relate much my cat always doing this things too.
I luv female cats cause they’re so cute
awe so cute
0:30 Not me watching this rn with my female cat sleeping under my blanket
"They're keenly aware of their enviroment"
My effin cat sleeping on the 2nd bottomest effin stairstep IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT
Yea my boy cat does more of these than my girl cat.
I love how people get offended if males are not mentioned
My girl does many of these things. And she’s super clingy. If she’s not on top of me, she’s at least somewhere she can see me.
I have a boy, and he does many of mentioned habits 😅
Did you get rid of her kittens?
I have a 7 month black cat 🐈⬛ and we got her when she was almost 3 months and she is always scared of everything that moves, she doesn’t let anyone touch her or pet her. It saddens me a lot 😢
Just be patient with her and you will slowly earn her trust. She will come around as long as you continue to show her love. 🐱
I know one of my female tabby cats like sleeping on my bed next to me but she does try to scratch the end of my bed base and she always wants to me around me and my other female likes getting som affection
Animal sexism, gotta love it
Well, the liquid in the womb of pregnant women and animals has a very specific smell. If you have a good smell sensitivity, you can actually know if they are pregnant.
These aren't exactly specific to females.
My female is quite clingy and also really responds to my emotions. She does the bottom thing .
can you explain to us in the next videos why cats KNOWS and VISIT their brethren's grave? i have several cats when i was 9 yo, but this behavior seems prominent in male cats.
my male cat was once leave my home to expand his territory in my neighborhood (he was an absolute giga chad. i can't even lift him up due to his size). a year later, his little sister got an accident, my neighbor hit her on the head which give her permanent brain damage, and 3 month later, she was died from it. i buried her in my lawn. few months after i bury her, her big brother return to my home. he was just...sit there, right in front of her grave, for almost an hour, until his nephew shows up and hit him playfully. this also happens when the same cat died. he come back home right before he died (he is very old now). so i buried him few meters away from his sister grave. the nephew i mentioned earlier start doing that sit to his uncle's grave as well for an hour. his female siblings never does that and i found it weird, especially how they know where their significant other was buried
My female cat knows better than to get anywhere near my closet and/or near my clothes in general.
Lordosis is usually displayed with the rear end up and the middle spine lowered.
These are mostly just all cats. Nesting is unique, but other than that, all of this pertains to both.
My one female cat is very gentle.
those Black cats look like my male Black Bombay Cat! God Bless!
You’re talking about female cats. But most of these points are literally my male cat Kovu.
Female cats are different though I noticed they usually have more sass to them. And give the boy cats attitude, lol
my cat actually forcing me to go to bed if it is to late in the night.
my tortoise shell cat likes to lay down on my lap, even if there is another cat already... she will find a way to squeeze in. lol
💝
My male cats do that too, except the frogging. I had female Siamese who would like my face all over like I was her kitten..........
💖💖💖💖💗💖💖💖💖💖
There are a lot of ridiculous cat videos on TH-cam, but this one is among the silliest. I have had a lot of cats, and I find that most differences in behavior among cats--at least the ones which have been neutered/spayed--are more attributable to breed, upbringing and personality ("catality?") than gender. Granted, un-"fixed" cats may be a different story.
I dont have a male cat but from what ive heard about cats most of these activities are pretty standard cat behavior. Not female specific.
My female cat always gets a little protective when I bring a woman around
Mine is the most epic snuggler in the world lol ❤
My female don't get on the fridge. My male will at times
So there's a difference between males and females? What a novel idea.
Most Everyone is saying this video is nonsense.
Their #male cat does everything mentioned here 😒
