I love how their fighting styles reflect their monikers so well. Ze'mer is hard to properly read with bizarre telegraphs, Isma relies on setting up traps and cornering you (since she would probably be the least combative knight when they all fight as one), And Dryya and Hegemol just try to hit you really, really hard.
Dryya also employs fast and rapid slashes, which works for her "fierce" moniker and also the charm (which btw I think it got changed in the full release to be more interesting), and hegemol has the double damage and big shock waves and wind ups to be mighty
You have no idea how happy this video made me, it's still hard to fathom that we're finally releasing this mod, and I'm so excited to see everyone's reactions. I feel so proud even if I didn't specifically work on the bosses. Sorry you won't get to be there for the launch, we've definitely polished up stuff since we gave you that build. It's a bit unfortunate I didn't fix the charm descriptions and effects in that one, the two you got confused about were my work, and there's a bit more to them than you saw.
Great work! As you know, some game teams invite good modmakers like your team. So probably, that project gives you and your collegues more than you think. Probably (I really hope, so talanted people must be rewarded)
I didn't realize how much I would love this mod. It seemed like just a few more bosses but the fact that you guys added lore, and you gave the champions personalities blew me away. Honestly, I wish this was canon. Absolutely insane mod. Now I just have to beat the champions call.
And then the void tendrils attack as the last new charm as well, that's really cool (although I don't think pure vessel used the stinky charm or ismas deodorant charm)

I know it's not likely to happen with Silksong and its DLCs taking up all of Team Cherry's time, but it would be amazing to see this become a collaboration with the official devs and the mod devs. And for Chris Larkin to collaborate on the music with the mod composers. Make this official!
You get so used to the somber, dead state of hallownest during the game, even detached at times, that seeing it alive and well in this mod feels so amazing and sad at the same time.
Blue could've acted like this was an official new dlc and I doubt we would've even noticed. Such perfect encapsulation of the atmosphere each knight brings with the art, music and fights!
It's crazy how far the community can go to create stuff that fullfills all parts of the game. lore, gameplay, music, aesthetics ...etc Hats down to those who contributed in this. be patient, SilkSong is coming soon, trust my word. dude im not even past the intro and already ive felt entranced by the dlc clips just the same way i felt entranced when first playing hollow knight, ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY
I would also add there don't seem to be many opportunities to heal; while some bosses are obviously made to be more difficult than others, the lack of stagger and healing opportunities are a bit too punishing to be considered fair
@@theguywithsomething8634 I feel like that's a result of this being designed to be challenging for people who are absolutely cracked at Hollow Knight. Which is fine, but it does blunt my enthusiasm for trying it out myself (since I'm not that good at Hollow Knight).
This doesn't make any sense, most hollow knight bosses have the exact same intro, these aren't much different, besides most people hate long intros on harder bosses anyway.
This mod is LEGENDARY. It looks almost completly authentic, like a literal Hollow Knight DLC in every way! (excluding those placeholder lines of course lol XD)
This is so cool! I remember a reddit post from a few years ago where they asked what would be a cool Hollow Knight DLC/mod idea and I actually made a comment how I would love to be able to battle with the 5 great knights, seeing how all of them have some representation left over in the main game. It is so cool to see that people were actually working on that (or even saw that comment and made it, no idea how long this has been in development or even how long ago that reddit post was) In the conversation that followed on that comment of mine we even came to the idea of a certain thing in the mod called the champions call which Blue has sadly missed in his first playthrough, so thats also really cool!
I'm so happy you got to play this early! This was amazing. I love being excited over this with the whole community. I am beyond impressed. This was so fun to watch and I can't wait to try this on my own at some point!
Do these fights remind anyone else of hornet? I’ve only fought her first encounter so you can probably tell I’m not that far, but the way dryya flies towards you reminds me heavily of hornet’s dive along with isma’s vine whip compared to her needle throw.
Now that I think of it, they do- Isma and Dryya really remind me of Hornet because of how fast they move around and the audio queues before every attack
I'm pretty sure Isma is using Hornets character model as a base, Dryya uses THK and Hegemol uses False knight (obviously). I don't know what Ze'mer uses though. might be totally original. Edit: I'm pretty sure Ze'mer is based on Traitor Lord

Great effort and taking Knights into this is also a great idea, I loved it. I only have a little bit of critics. Mysterious Ze'mer fight could've been way better. If she didnt start to move immediately at start but start with a gesture (like old big bosses in the game) also flowers on the floor are to high, you cant see where you land which is sucks and why you take that many damage while she is just walking over. And for Isma, even at hardest bosses of this game there is always a small gap for healing. And this one aint have, also there aint any clue about floor plants. I mean the plants on the wall can be trackable cuz she throws'em. But trap plants on floor spawns themselves and no clue for spawn or no clue when you kill one. So you never know did you kill it or a new one just came in. Other then that, its creative for sure. Art looks fine btw. Also, Ze'mer probably the strongest of'em and Ogrim the weakest. So it should've start with Ogrim and going to Ze'mer imo. And about Dryya, White Queen at background glows just too much and Dryya is white too, and her all attacks are white too.. Aint good for clarity which is HK known for in fights imo. Also, I think she talks too much, too repetetive. Just take example of Hornet. She aint say a word with every attacks, most of the times we saw war cries, screams and grunts from her like a Tennis Player but Dryya just talks, and it kills battle vibe imo. I just loved location of Hegemol, the background the lore behind this... Great Job. Great Job at Hegemol's animations too.
*CHARM SPOILERS* took me a bit to realize at 9:33 , the Vessel's Lament mimics one of Pure Vessel's atracks where it focuses soul and explodes, which is really really cool! Edit; Just realized Boon of Hallownest does the same thing!
I felt that Gauthier did the music as soon as I heard the first fight theme! It sounded SO similar to their Guardian of the Silken Toll song and I love it. God, this mod just blew me away. It’s so amazing
The way that this mod team has reflected lore in their combat systems is insanely well designed. The implication that the Hollow Knight had potentially sparred with the guardians from the very start and them taking moves from each of them and adding it in their own repertoire is great to see.

All of them remind me of Lace (Except Hegemol) very reminiscent of Silksong for a mod released pre Silksong
Isma especially seems like a more difficult version of Hornet Sentinel, albiet slightly modified.

to use mark of purity, you have to hold the nail slash button. also, the last charm is in the abyss near the void tendrils unlock
