I decided to make the broccoli and hash brown dish after watching this. I had no high expectation and as I was preparing the dish was feeling very sorry for myself about my huge appetite and inability to lose weight. I take all the negativity back! After having eaten a portion for my dinner I am complete satiated and totally satisfied. It was the most delicious thing I have eaten in a long time. I lost 70 pounds and so did my dad (see my TH-cam channel) by doing this most of the time (we eat off plan once in a while and don't stress out about trying to be perfect). No thought involved, no stress, no counting calories. Just changing the foods we ate. I lost 55 pounds without doing any exercise, and started walking after that and the rest of the weight came off. It really works!! I'm almost 50, and my dad is 70, and this has been our lifestyle for 7 years. People tell me I look like I'm in my late 30s, it really does make you look and feel more vital!

When I first went vegan I was eating a ton of vegetables and fruit and I lost so much weight, but then I started seeing a bunch of people (not naming any names..) on TH-cam, etc, eating more carbs, and I stupidly started doing the same thing. No joke, I put on 40 pounds in like 4 months, and I was addicted to carbs. It was the most weight I had ever put on in my life. It has taken me a while to get back to where I started, but in the past 2 months I have realized that more vegetables are the key, and the weight has just been falling off. Plus I feel amazing! So much happier, and less irritated, and I have more natural energy throughout the day. So now it is mostly veggies and then only small amounts of carbs and fats. And what you said about salads is so true; it is better to have a salad with some fats than no salad at all. I don't like the maples syrup and mustard dressing either, greens just need to have fats imo.
EDIT: by carbs I mean processed carbs and starchy carbs like rice, pasta and bread. Yes, fruits and vegetables are carbs, but they are very high in fiber, which is what helps you to lose weight. Fruits and vegetables are also high in vitamins and minerals. Potatoes are vegetables, they are considered starchy vegetables, I do enjoy them, as they are full of fiber and vitamins as well. As for what I eat exactly, I try to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables, but I do eat a lot of green vegetables like broccoli, kale, romaine and Brussels sprouts. I have more of a salty tooth than a sweet tooth, so I don't eat very much fruit, but I like bananas, watermelon, oranges, strawberries, grapes and blueberries best. For fats I eat avocado, nuts and seeds, and sometimes put cold pressed olive oil on my vegetables. I also eat quinoa and lentils a lot, they are very healthy and full of fiber as well.

    • @beverlycharles6534
      @beverlycharles6534 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Relative to weight and sugar intake do you limit fruit to a certain amt a day? I have sweet tooth. I crave a little sweet 2 or 3 times a day. So far a couple spoonfuls of a fruit smoothie bowl seems 2 curb it. Like 2 to 3 bananas and 8 berries is ok for me even almost every day @ snack times.

Hey Hannah, I am so on board with eating more veggies, because sadly I am not a person who can eat all the catbs she wants. For 2 years I stuck to Chef AJ's UWL program and gave up all salt, sugar, flour and oil. To be honest: I hated my food, it just did not taste good without a bit of salt. I could have lived with that IF it had gotten me the results I wanted, but it didn't. I guess I was still eating too many carbs. Then life happened, I was under a lot of stress and started bingeing on vegan ice cream and potato chips - for a couple of months! I gained 22 pounds and found myself at my heaviest in 20 years. Now I added back a little salt to my food, cut in half the amount of carbs I was eating and increased the amount of veggies for each meal - and lost 4 pounds in 2 weeks. Not only that but I actually enjoy my food again. I am not saying that UWL is a bad program, it just wasn't the right one for me. I have seen numerous people who had great success with it!

I have been yo yo dieting for the past 3 years of my life and could not figure out how to stay lean. Once I implemented the volume eating style (I can eat a lot) I lost 25 pounds easy and I have completely stopped my binge eating and now I understand how to maintain my new weight. Even eating out doesn’t give me any stress anymore because I understand what to get. Thank you for talking about this!

so before i saw this video, about 2 weeks ago, i started implementing a process of eating a normal breakfast add veggies if i can, fruits or veggies for snacks, salad at lunch, then regular dinner, it's been about a week. i feel so much better. honestly. working out is so much easier because i don't have a belly full of crabs and bad snacks. my stomach is so much less bloated. i feel so much more full. i should mention i do eat meat. even for your meat eater fans, your veggie method will totally work.

Slowly incorporating more fresh veggies and fruit. I feel more at peace again, it’s hard to explain. You and banana girl are the reason I went vegan to begin with. I actually found her first, but it was when I found you things started to line up and i made the switch. Anyway, thank you for sharing. You look radiant, I can tell you feel amazing. Wish I you well. Yes! I needed reminders about calorie density. I'm 6 months postpartum after my third baby. I lost 40 pounds before I got pregnant with my third using a whole food plant based diet while keeping calorie density in mind. Since I was on a weight GAIN diet while pregnant, and also because I was sick (morning/all day sickness), I got in the habit of eating a lot of nut butters/dates/whole wheat pasta/Ezekiel bread (and there's nothing wrong with that, they're delicious and healthy!), but I am once again looking to lose 40-50 pounds to get back to my ideal weight. I haven't seen any loss, and I think that's because I forgot about calorie density, and have continued with my still healthy, but calorie dense, diet I was on while pregnant. All the early postpartum late night snacking on date/chocolate bars with breastfeeding hunger because I was too tired and busy to remember to eat throughout the day didn't help either 🤣. Thanks for the reminder to eat my veggies and remember calorie density!! It really is that simple 😆.

We are kinda in the same situation. My girl is 2 years old and I've been trying to lose weight just lately. My guy is really fit but he eats CRAP (same as your guy) and I eat healthier but I've been plateaued. I'm trying to lose it in a healthy way as well as create healthy habits that I can bring my daughter into as well.

I watched the whole time! This inspired me. I watched your videos when I first went vegan 4 years ago but have been getting really lazy lately so this was helpful.

Thank you. I'm nearly one month into my new life style and whilst I have a lot to learn I'm already feeling so much better. I have tons more energy which I love and I'm at the gym and walking more.
Fab channel and thank you for the free cheat sheet 😀 👏 👍 😊

There is a korean stirfry potato dish you might like:
Stir-fry potatoes and onions with oil (vegetable, avocado, or grape seed oil), soy sauce, sesame oil, gochujang sauce, and sugar or sugar substitute or maple syrup or blend a korean pear. Cook to your preferred tasting.

I’ve been a continuous yo-yo dieter my whole life. I like to be FULL and can never last long when I feel restricted. Calorie density might be the missing piece I needed to lose weight while not starving myself. Thanks Hannah ❤️

Don’t mind the longer videos at all! I like all the nerdy info 😂 Thank you, Keep them coming! I did a plant based diet before and felt great but the weight loss was so slow. I had just been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s at that time. I really think plant based helped heal my gut etc but then I got back on the low carb even keto train to lose weight faster and of course health and gut issues came back as well 😩 I’m definitely a believer in plant based now ❤️

I’m been eating only raw veggies and fruit! I really feel that it cooks out a lot of what I need and my intuition doesn’t lie!!!
I’ll be posting about it soon. It’s magical along with going to the gym. How I eat and what I do is mental for me. The looks of it is a bonus! Your intentions go along way. Thanks for sharing!

After binge watching a few of these, I have a random question I'm so curious about. What do you eat when you're craving something sweet? Have you been craving sweet things lately?

    • @anh7807

Ive found that sweet fruit like watermelon helps with that.

@@apterousangel I know you didn't ask me lol but felt like sharing my thoughts anyway :) For my smoothies, I personally don't put only fruit cause I usually have no problem eating fruit; it's the veggies that I struggle with. I put a big handful of spinach, sometimes cucumber or carrots, prob a Tbsp or two each of chia and hemp seeds, and some fruit to make it taste good. Sometimes blueberries, sometimes a frozen fruit mix, etc. Oh and water and ice too haha

@darla I've also seen a lot of people add cauliflower or even broccoli stems that they saved and froze from previous meals. It makes the smoothie creamy and you can't even taste it. It's a great way to sneak in some veggies 🙂
