    I've owned an 82 Mustang GT since 84, and I still have it! Car had about 32,000 miles on it when I got it and the price I paid was 8,200.

      I have a 82 "gl" model, that was a hand-me-down, from my sister. It wasn't in very decent shape when I inherited it and even required a new engine. I have spent a lot of time & money restoring her. The stang now has a 4 barrel carb & around 500 horsepower. By far the most fun car I have ever driven. Still needs more replacement parts, but the enjoyment of driving experience, makes it all seem worthwhile..

    I've built a few like this, still own 3. Marti Reports, etc... I own a 1 of 1 1979 Coupe I bought from the original family and restored it. The original owner got it when he was 16, his dad turned it over to him about 4 years later. My boys and I have about 14 vehicles between us here and most are Mustangs. My middle son, bought his first 1986 Mustang GT with 56K miles on it at age 14, in 2014. He still owns it. Mint interior and the car looks to be about 5 years old.
    This 1982 Mustang GT is decently priced and with a little effort I've seen these go up a few thousand. It's nice to see these older Fox in a near original state!

    Still remember back in the day as a coast to coast trucker(40 years) the stang 2, 302 was cali's Vascar pursuit vehical, AZ as well. Always laughed seeing a 6ft tall trooper extracting himself from one on a stop lol. Tough ole rides for a Ford guess.

    For an '82 Mustang GT it's in excellent shape. You rately ever see these older 80's Mustangs on the street anymore. Whoever owned the car really kept it clean. This would be a nice car to take to auto shows and just to cruise around in.

    Very cool car. I grew up in the 90’s. I was 16 in 1996. By then, here in north Alabama, the “5.0” had already been lumped into the “redneck” class. Mainly because they just didn’t hold up well and folks were able to easily/cheaply modify them.
    I always wanted one though. :)
    I like this model and the Mach 1 model mustangs and that’s really about it. The other models just don’t really do it for me.

    I remember taking the motor from a two barrel 1982 that might be not similar but it was a Mercury Capri what hurts my heart is it was a black Mercury Capri that's a rare bird now. I put the motor in an old mustang the old 268 h crane Cam and headers with a holly 600 1850 not tuned at alI except for what we might think would make power thought it was a beast lol. No Time slips to prove it it's just a really fun ride.

    Beautiful car although sounds like the bearing on the main shaft of the transmission is worn out you can tell its not the clutch by when in neutral and the clutch depressed the noise disappears meaning the transmission is disengaged also the tail shaft seal is leaking {most likely not related } if it has a cover on it you may be able to change the bearing but you have pull the tranny down. Cool car though.

    There was a limited number of 1982 Mustang GT’s built with 5 speed manual transmissions to see how well they held up. Most of them were built with that SROD 4 speed manual which was in my 5.0 4 speed Pace Car. I hated that transmission and the Michelin TRX tires.

    • @foxchassis
      @foxchassis ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All 1982 GTs with the 5.0L engine also had the Borg Warner SROD 4-speed. None of those were built with a 5-speed.
      There was a Tremec VS140 5-speed in 1982 but only behind the non-turbo 2.3 and turbo 2.3. The 1982 GT could get the turbo 2.3/5-speed, in Canada only.

    !982 Mustang gt was rated at 157 hp with a 2 bbl carb and would run the 1/4 mile in 16 seconds....... It was a dog. Someone could swap out the engine and tranny for a real 5.0 HO and tremmec (or?) then junk the entire rear axle for a (5 lug) 8.8 with some lower gears and it might be something.
