I love acrylics, and other water mediums like gouache. Used mostly for painting wildlife subjects, birds and mammals, years ago. I mostly use oils now for landscape paintings and occasional portraits. Acrylics should work well for human portraits since I did many of other animal species before, painting pictures of "lions and tigers and bears, oh my"!! LOL ;D
@@ronschlorff7089 I haven’t used acrylics much, only for preliminary backgrounds for mixed media drawings. It’s great that we can all use them in a variety of ways. 😊
@@susanlyonfineart Yes, try them all and find one that works best for the genre and subject you settle on; that was my motto. I don't jump around too much anymore; have settled on oils, as a versatile medium, at least for me, for landscapes mostly. Have a great New Year! Thanks!! : )
Thank you so much for sharing, Susan and Scott. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge so freely. ❤ Also, I really dig the last song in the score and would love to know who it is. Thanks again you two!
@@susanlyonfineart , Hi Susan, thanks for the response. No worries about the song, I do the same thing for my videos to insure against copyright strikes--even thought I write and perform my own original music, I don't want to have to defend an unwarranted allegation. So many great artists in the world and too few senses to appreciate them all, but we can try. 😊 Thanks again Susan.
awesome! I loved every minute of the video, how do you deal with the change of value when you add gesso to the acrylic ? when I try, they aways get a bit tint...
Really helpful video - Wonderful loose approach, which is what I'm striving for. I've been painting with acrylics for many decades and now I'm anxious to follow up on your tip to use heavy body gesso for white. The titanium white n the heavy body acrylics isn't stiff enough, especially when fresh out of the tube and tends to weaken the consistency of the other colors - Always very frustrating when attempting to paint thick strokes or use a palette knife. What brand are you using? I see Liquitex has a "Super Heavy Body Gesso. I think this will be a game changer. Thank you so much!
How cool to see Scott work in acrylics! So beautiful
@@alesiaarnold4259 thank you for watching 😍

@@bonzejustice4029 thank you for watching, I am sorry I can’t remember what song that was. I get free music from TH-cam.

I am so glad, thank you for watching. Scott seems to be able to do things that I can't. I still get amazed.
