Today I'm getting to test out the Spitfire 3490 from @oakiewoodsman This splitter has a totally different workflow than your conventional log splitters. It didn't take very long to get in a rhythm of operating this machine. This machine was an absolute pleasure to operate. The controls are amazingly smooth, tons of power, and the log lift was life changing to use.

I wonder how that would fair against bur oak or hedge?? But that looks like a go splitter I like the duel direction split
I don't think hedge would slow it down at all. It's a tuff splitter
definitely an interesting splitter. Whats the price range on those?
It varies for what you want. This exact splitter spec'd out is around $7500 if im not mistaken
I got a lighter version with no 4 way wedge for $4500 2 years ago.
How does it compare to that Ultra?
2 totally different machines. Really depends on your situation. They both will crank out the wood compared to any box store splitter. The split fire shines if your splitting large rounds because of the log lift and being able use it as a table.
If you were splitting smaller consistent size wood I think the ultra would be great.
Do they rate that as 22 ton or whatever homeowner splitters are?
It sure makes short work of that hickory.
