- If you're transporting a small engine don't do this to your engine. This can cause you a headache and you could possible tear something up. In this video I'll show you how to troubleshoot and fix a hydro lock on your engine. Luckly, we got this splitfire 3490 running like a champ again.
These splitfire log splitters are unique and a pleasure to run. the learning curve was not steep.
@SplitFireSalesInc They make a fantastic log splitter that will last a lifetime.

I stated in the video that I had never moved 4 stroke equipment around but that is not true now that I think about it. Pressure washers, vibratory plates, concrete saws (walk behind) lawn mowers generators etc. Many with Honda engines, Briggs and predator. Wow! Thank you again. Please share if you have ever done this yourself!
I'm glad we was able to get this thing fixed.
Its strange some equipment is not as affected like this. I've hauled my lawn mower around for years and haven't had it do this.
Good call Mike
Thank yoy Mr Tim
Thank goodness I had my safety glasses on😅
Mike, I just learned something new today. I had no idea that could happen in transport. And a great tip on the spark plugs. Thank you.
Hey Mr Kenny. Hahaha glad you had on your PPE. Yup that can happen. Some machines seem to do it worse than others. I never shut off the fuel on my lawn mower when I had my mowing business and they never had any trouble.
Yes, always turn off the gas when transporting your splitter - great pro tip!
Hey Travis. It does help for sure. Some machines are affected worse than others
Rusty Mike, thanks for getting our boy Oakie out of a bind 😉😉. Only thing I'll add is the engine on my splitter is also Honda and it has an oil level switch on it so the 1st time I tilted the splitter up to hand bomb it around the wood yard it died - took me a minute to figure out what I did... haha
Hey thank you. Ah yes that will do it. I had to disable the oil switch on the engine I replaced on my tiller cuz the angle was to much when the tines would get down in the dirt.
Thanks for watching
When bringing home my used splitter, and guy said to keep the engine running which I did. It was about a 20min ride and was on a trailer. Now I know exactly why he said that.
Thanks for a great informative video! Great explanation
Does that splitter not have a fuel shutoff? Some of these engines seem to flood worse than others. I never shut the fuel off to my lawn mowers when i had my mowing business and i never had any trouble out of them.
No it does not, my splitter is an old Huskee 22ton made by Speedco with a horizontal Briggs flat head.
Never shut off fuel on my mowers either transporting them.
Very informative video , awesome information.
Thank you Sir
Had you ever done something like this?
@@oakiewoodsman No can't say that I have , and will definitely watch for it now so glad I watched you first lol
Great advice and insight Mike. Anti Seeze is a great product, I will often pull apart shields and gaurds on my new equipment and add Anti Seeze to those nuts and bolts so when I need to service or repair that equipment everything comes apart easily.
That is great idea scooter. Save You a headache later on
Great job! I have had that happen to me before. 👍👍
Hey Jeremiah thank you.
Wow. Never would have known that either!! Great video Mike! Best. --J.Andre. / Old Iron Acres
Hey J. Thanks for stopping by
My husband said that he would blow out the carburetor. Then make sure that there is no water in the gas. Clean the whole system out. Check the filter for water. If there is water, wash with soap and water. Enjoy your Sunday.
Thank you. Not a bad idea.
I always turn the gas off after use. I always use antiseize also!
Hey Ted. Great to hear. Antiseize is amazing stuff
Good video Mike 👍, had a nabour tell me that years ago, good to see what can happen, no video yet on blue thunder, need oiler the Stihl 660 has three different models?, don’t have serial number, may have to modify it myself 😂, see what happens, 🚜👍
Hey Len. The clone saw should be the earlie "older" model of 660. I always tell them old model when I need parts. So far so good
@@TheRustyGarageandHomestead thanks 👍
Thats a manual holder? Thought it was drink holder
Hahaha they do make a great cup holder. Should be standard equipment on all log splitters
Morning
Mornin sir
Its tires are hard mounted, with no springs.
Definitely going to bounce more then a mower in the back of a truck.
That is true. The Carburetor float doesn't like the bouncing
