I can remember bouncing him to Monkey Wrench and him loving every second. I’m 45 as of TODAY and spent my birthday eve last night at a Foo Fighters concert. dear dave - exactly one year to the day after my brother paul's sudden death on 3 21 96 i was walking up friedrichstrasse in berlin to light a candle for him in the berlin cathedral, i was so lost, and suddenly you were literally walking toward me with your arm around your girlfriend, and I was silently grateful, thinking, "now there's a dude who would understand." thanks for all your beautiful incredible music dave. live long and keep prospering.
I feel like repeatedly asking someone over and over about one of the most traumatic events of their lives is cruel. I was really young when KC passed and I remember after the Foos came out and all the rock press was so invasive with questions. Dave was only 25 years old when Kurt died, and he was just a young man trying to grieve his friend.
“I love life” We have their great music because this man hanged on to life and invited his band members to join him. I grew up listening to them and it breaks my heart for Taylor’s loss
Once the covid-19 emergency will be over, I will be sitting even closer to the people I meet, in fact I will sit directly on the legs of the people I talk to.
Goosebumps when talking about Nirvana I was born and raised in Seattle. Nirvana was my first favorite band I brought Nevermind on cd to 1st grade music class 91' to share. The teacher played Nirvana teen spirit which I loved and I watched all the other kids look around like this is mind blowing! RIP Kurt! Foo Fighters are Amazing every album is Great Dave is the man and the band just Awesome!
I was in college..and i will never forget the first time we all heard smells like teen spirit...we just looked at each other in silence as it played..minds blown..a new way of being discovered.
Dave is literally the heart and spirit of rock. The effort and love he puts into his music is so amazing. He is so underrated! Kurt would of been so proud of him :3
I'm a huge rock, hard rock, classic rock and heavy metal fan and I absolutely love the Foo Fighters.. I don't understand why people hate on Dave or the Foo Fighters music when the man continued on and has been doing what he wants to do for the last 25 years.. Just because it "doesn't sound like Nirvana" That's just ignorant, some of you are way too stuck in the past.
Past October 4th, 2019 I had the chance to see them live for the first time in my life, in first line and in my country, Costa Rica. Past October 4th, 2019 my life changed. Thank you for being so honest and passionate with your music.
Yep! Been listening to foo fighters since the first album. that album made me move on from nirvana. I was 15 years old, now im about to be 41. how time flies.
This just hit me so hard after losing Taylor a few days ago. I myself growing up was a huge Nirvana fan, which made me appreciate the foofightahs but wasn't heavy in to them. But like Grohl at heart I am and will always be a drummer and percussionist but because music has been a huge part of my world I'll find a way to jam , and like Taylor I'm an addict that's almost died too many times who's in the good fight now 6 years sober He really deserves appreciation because like addicts drummers tend to get overlooked at times but most bands can't be or do w out them. Just like Addicts need to use just to feel normal and not get sick when it turns from using now and then to a real habit. You would think that at this time in the world the problem would be taken as serious as any other disease. Stigma is part responsible for this lack of care and or understanding. As COVD became the big deal media stopped bringing attention to the pandemic of addiction where more people have been dying because of this lack of empathy and compassion. It's sad all I want is to raise awareness about how hard it is to play normal when your live revolves around addiction and for society to understand these are real people so help to treat these real problems. Rip Tay.
To me, Foo Fighters represents overcoming depression. Something truly terrible happened, yet Dave fought to live his best life and created foo fighters.
seeing that last part about taylor breaks my heart.. now dave has lost 2 dear friends, taylor was probably a even bigger one than kurt, rest easy mate!
I'm so damn proud of Dave for the life and legacy he's created. He could easily have thrown in the towel when Nirvana ended, but instead he showed us all that we can pick ourselves up and keep going, even when it looks like all is lost.
That beautiful hair. This man is truly my hero in every way. Absolutely love and adore Dave Grohl so much. Just everything about him is the reason why I’m still alive. Thank you Dave Grohl ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Nick Hawthorne he has grey bits yeah, it just depends on the light really, he even has grey bits in his beard too. But damn he’s still beautiful and I can’t wait to see him go completely grey 😍❤️
Nick Hawthorne ...hair colour isn't influenced by the age. You can see very young people with coloured hair because they are grey or white. At the opposite there are adults and old people with their original hair colour. Dave is lucky however...he's beautiful and natural ❤❤❤
Your always welcome Home Dave. You Already know. Ive had experiences of meeting Dave Grohl and Dave Mathews in Seattle. Surprisingly both at QFC. Both times all I could think was "Don't Be Weird. Treat'em normal.
RIP Taylor. Man I was such a huge fan of Taylor for both his drumming but mainly because of his personality being so damn positive. Other drummers probably couldn’t deal with being the drummer of the band led by the drummer of the most famous band ever in Nirvana yet because of his personality Taylor outshined all that noise and became one of the most well known drummers of all time which most bands have drummers the general public can’t name yet Taylor is clearly the heart of the foo fighters being in almost every interview for the band along with grohl. I know drugs were involved but it just seems odd as he didn’t seem like a drug abuser which I read he stopped and became more safe about it all after his accidental OD. Just pray for his family and friends. Gone way too soon but will forever be remembered for his amazing artistry and personality
I never appreciated the Foo Fighters’ music until I got older. I was a teen in the 90s and I guess I was accustomed to all the dark and heavy rock that was so prevalent then, and then here comes Dave with his beautiful view from the other side and I don’t think I knew how to take it at the time. But as the years have passed, those other bands have mostly disappeared, the singers are dead, and I still love that music, but I hear the FF now and it just makes me smile. Dave was what we all needed at the time, whether we knew it or not, as we were becoming adults and still needed music to enrich our lives. I’m so grateful that he never gave up and blessed us with his gifts all these years.
Come on... being compared to such a legend like Kurt Cobain is an honor for Dave. Dave has his feet on the ground... That's why he has billions of fans in every country in the world.
Foo Fighters have been my all time favorite band for years, my mom played them when I was growing up and to this day I almost only listen to their songs.
The concert in Sweden was my first every Foo Fighters and rock concert ever, I don't think any concert can top that one, it was truly amazing. Thank you Dave for your amazing dedication and music.
Dave is a true icon. Incredible musician and incredible person. No drug problems, no alcohol problems. Not to mention he’s worth $320 million and you’d never know it. A great role model and a legend.
Foo Fighters have always been a band I didn't closely follow, but whose music I've always enjoyed. And every now and then, they'll write a song that you know came from deep within Dave's being. His love for and dedication to music is insanely admirable.
To describe Dave Grohl as an inspiration is an understatement. He's persevered, and it seems for the right reasons. He also brought a lot of people up with him.

dear dave - exactly one year to the day after my brother paul's sudden death on 3 21 96 i was walking up friedrichstrasse in berlin to light a candle for him in the berlin cathedral, i was so lost, and suddenly you were literally walking toward me with your arm around your girlfriend, and I was silently grateful, thinking, "now there's a dude who would understand." thanks for all your beautiful incredible music dave. live long and keep prospering.
Who
hereisjvm I’m so sorry you lost your brother. Ty for telling that story. It was very moving.
hereisjvm: Thanks, sincerely, for this testimonial -- made this grown man cry (in a good way)!
One of the coolest and most genuinely nice rockers on the planet!
Dave’s voice is so smooth when he speaks.
To be alive is the greatest gift. Don't waste it.
The Missouri Traveler I mean a Ferrari might be better lol
jason R you need to be alive to use it though
Jiyū only for like 9 seconds
G.I Joe both are good companies and I believe you know that hate isn’t the way dude
G.I Joe Bugatti’s are german garbage worser than a ferrari lol
I feel like repeatedly asking someone over and over about one of the most traumatic events of their lives is cruel. I was really young when KC passed and I remember after the Foos came out and all the rock press was so invasive with questions. Dave was only 25 years old when Kurt died, and he was just a young man trying to grieve his friend.
“I love life” We have their great music because this man hanged on to life and invited his band members to join him. I grew up listening to them and it breaks my heart for Taylor’s loss
One of the most humble rock stars.
This guy just seems so genuine and humble. I would love to meet him one day and pick his brain.
Foo Fighters changed my life, I kept going thanks to all those songs, I think Taylor and Virginia are proud of Dave ❤🕊
4:20 I'm uncomfortable just seeing how close they're sitting!!! That's just weird!
For reals if their legs werent crossed theyd be touching knees
Once the covid-19 emergency will be over, I will be sitting even closer to the people I meet, in fact I will sit directly on the legs of the people I talk to.
Dude just leave the guy alone about it lol he’s answered this questions 7 billion times already
But he loves talking about it
He really likes attention
Speciocide I guess its hard moving on
People want to know
Ha wierd questions! Take care homies
There’s something really cool about Dave ...His heart is giant and it shows
I'm not a foo fighter fan but Dave has a damn good spirit and soul!!
He's got it, Dave's got it, he understands. That's why he's great.
I am a huge fan of Dave after watching this interview
Goosebumps when talking about Nirvana I was born and raised in Seattle. Nirvana was my first favorite band I brought Nevermind on cd to 1st grade music class 91' to share. The teacher played Nirvana teen spirit which I loved and I watched all the other kids look around like this is mind blowing! RIP Kurt! Foo Fighters are Amazing every album is Great Dave is the man and the band just Awesome!
I was in college..and i will never forget the first time we all heard smells like teen spirit...we just looked at each other in silence as it played..minds blown..a new way of being discovered.
his mother is such a beatiful and wise woman! No wonder he became a rock star
Just because it "doesn't sound like Nirvana"
That's just ignorant, some of you are way too stuck in the past.
No lie today i thought to myself. When ever i have a problem i ask myself What would Dave Grohl do.
Alberto aka Turtleman I have a sign on my desk at work that says WWDGD
Awesome Rock N Roll
Me too hahahah
Yeah man I agree
Dave Grohl would headbang, scream “YEAAAAHHHHH!!!” and power through it.
I’m gonna make this a t-shirt: WWDGD
"I love music and I love life" - That's cool!!
Great mantra for all of us!
"I love music... I love life."
Damn, he took my heart when he said that about drugs.
Dave Grohl is an awesome role model
Past October 4th, 2019 I had the chance to see them live for the first time in my life, in first line and in my country, Costa Rica. Past October 4th, 2019 my life changed.
Thank you for being so honest and passionate with your music.
I’m watching this the day after Taylor died and i’m just looking at it in such a different light
Rewatching all these old videos. Damn I feel sad for Dave.
Yep! Been listening to foo fighters since the first album. that album made me move on from nirvana. I was 15 years old, now im about to be 41. how time flies.
Dave and Taylor’s friendship is what everyone of us needs and what some of us never find.
Dave is probably the best friend that anyone could ever have. Bless Dave Grohl.
seeing that last part about taylor breaks my heart.. now dave has lost 2 dear friends, taylor was probably a even bigger one than kurt, rest easy mate!
If he broke his leg protecting his guitar, then my respect for him just increased
rock and roll has never died. stop trying to push this narrative. it's always been relatively underground.
It was underground? Are you joking?
Who cares about genres anyway like for real? Either it grips you or it doesn’t. No matter if Sinatra, Nirvana, Manson or Amy Winehouse.
I'm so damn proud of Dave for the life and legacy he's created. He could easily have thrown in the towel when Nirvana ended, but instead he showed us all that we can pick ourselves up and keep going, even when it looks like all is lost.
Anyone else watching this is in 2022 and crying? 😭
That guy is a Savage, I'm absolutely impressed! Broken leg and continued the show
That beautiful hair. This man is truly my hero in every way. Absolutely love and adore Dave Grohl so much. Just everything about him is the reason why I’m still alive. Thank you Dave Grohl ❤️❤️❤️❤️
he's 49, I was wondering if he colors it or he just doesn't have any gray?
Nick Hawthorne he has grey bits yeah, it just depends on the light really, he even has grey bits in his beard too. But damn he’s still beautiful and I can’t wait to see him go completely grey 😍❤️
Nick Hawthorne ...hair colour isn't influenced by the age. You can see very young people with coloured hair because they are grey or white. At the opposite there are adults and old people with their original hair colour. Dave is lucky however...he's beautiful and natural ❤❤❤
Edda Jokie absolutely. He’s got great genes. But some people age gradually or really quickly. It doesn’t matter. He’s still amazing.
Sophia R ...I totally agree with you!!! Dave is the best and he was...is...will be always the best!!!❤
Your always welcome Home Dave. You Already know.
Ive had experiences of meeting Dave Grohl and Dave Mathews in Seattle. Surprisingly both at QFC.
Both times all I could think was
"Don't Be Weird. Treat'em normal.
Dave is such an incredible artist . This interview reminds me of why I’ve always loved these guys so much . Hang in there FF ! Rest easy Taylor !
Gotta love Dave. The fact that he made it through all of the excess of the 90s and the many deaths that Seattle suffered is very inspiring.
This poor guy is probably so sick and tired of getting asked about Kurt .
I doubt it very much
Come on... being compared to such a legend like Kurt Cobain is an honor for Dave. Dave has his feet on the ground... That's why he has billions of fans in every country in the world.
Foo Fighters have been my all time favorite band for years, my mom played them when I was growing up and to this day I almost only listen to their songs.
The love & respect I have for Dave Grohl & his music is based on Dave Grohl, not because of other people or bands.
I love how his first platinum record was presented to his mom kinda like saying "you are the reason I am here so this is just as much yours as mine".
Big Me was the first song I learned to play on guitar. I never thought about it before - but Foo Fighters was the reason I learned to play. 🙌🏻
Breaks my heart to hear Dave talk about Kurt, Taylor's coma, and now this..
The nicest man in rock imho!
The man is a legend he can drum sing play guitar and write
and me i just have good taste in music...
Foo Fighters have always been a band I didn't closely follow, but whose music I've always enjoyed. And every now and then, they'll write a song that you know came from deep within Dave's being. His love for and dedication to music is insanely admirable.
“i love music and i love life” i can relate to that
Seeing him and hearing him talk just makes me happy.
To describe Dave Grohl as an inspiration is an understatement. He's persevered, and it seems for the right reasons. He also brought a lot of people up with him.
I'm with Dave on no drugs
He still drinks and smokes weed
No hard drugs, that's for sure.
"I love music. I love life."
Me too, Dave.
My heart is beyond BROKEN for Dave and the rest of the band..RIP Taylor ..sending love from where you were born Warren, Ohio ❤️🤟
"But I love music... and I love life!"
Ok.... seriously, goosebumps all over my body!
