Cloud storage for everything that digitally exist. And those records without digital records can be provided by digital representation like a QR code but blockchain uses Hash instead. Hash is basically a mathematical formula that is almost impossible to reverse. For context, addition can be reversed by subtraction, multiplication with division, quadratic equation with quadratic formula. The level of complication in the Hash formula is too complex to find a solution for reversibility. This resulted to Hash formula to be the most complex mathematical formula ever developed. This may remove multiple variety of encryption of similar items in the internet which more often that not, prevents a smooth and safe transaction due to repetitive encryption and decryption of weaker encryption formula. This does not however stop others from creating another encryption on top of the Hash. And that is a good thing, since if ever by some miracle that someone manage to figure out a Hash solution, then all content of blockchain will be the biggest gold mine to ever exist in the history of mankind. TL:DR Block chain is meant to create security for items/events/transactions that can be put in public. Preventing theft, promoting public integrity, ease of access. But some information that needs privacy can still be put in blockchain by way of applying another encryption on top of Hash.

There are games wherein some items that you found/trained/created can be sold in the game's blackmarket as an NFT. These NFTs can be used on different games that implements those particular items. Basically, an item developer can work with other game developers to implement the same NFT in their games. Now, that NFT will be useable whichever games that uses it. Example: If a shiny pickachu is an NFT, it can be sold in the blackmarket providing profits for both the player and the developers (maybe as a service fee). When it is transferred in a different game, the item's implementation can be different from its origin. The hash of a block is dependant on the hashing algorithm used. In bitcoin it is like: sha256(sha256( all information in the block )) The language is largely irrelevant. What the code looks like is also dependant on the programmer. See the thumbnail of the video for a visual representation of what it looks like. For a centralized blockchain that is just stored in memory, think of a linked list.

- What does the blockchain look like? Like, what kind of file format is it? At the end you say you can create a blockchain yourself in JavaScript, which intrigued me. So it's just a piece of JavaScript code?

The hash of a block is dependant on the hashing algorithm used.
In bitcoin it is like: sha256(sha256( all information in the block ))
The language is largely irrelevant. What the code looks like is also dependant on the programmer.

For a centralized blockchain that is just stored in memory, think of a linked list.

yeah that's what I thought too. it's interesting how a lot of 'new' technology is, at a conceptual level, not new at all. it just takes a while to implement things practically, or find a use for them.
