I own a TMNT now, first pin, when I wax it down the road (which I’ve never waxed a playfield or anything in that matter) how do you buff wax

Jadin Hopper Most people work the towel in a circular motion, but it doesnt really matter. Just go over it lightly with a soft cloth to remove the haze and make it shine.

Yup. Buff with a clean microfibre cloth. There is a little section in the video where I do it. The real trick is not gobbing a pile of wax on, and letting it haze up before buffing. It doesn't take very much wax at all.

Very helpful thank you. I'm finding learning how to keep my two new pins clean is a lot like learning how to maintain cast iron, in the sense that I never seem to get to the right answer and I'm always researching every single different method....though truth be told as I'm sure as you'll agree a cast iron skillet is much easier to replace. How often do you clean your pins if I might ask, and does it get exhausting when you have so many (and perhaps in different locations) to keep up with? I can't wait to see your arcade documentary, the same bug bit me last year.

It's hard to say how often I clean them as I never had a schedule. I clean them when they look like they need it. That Lost World machine seemed to get far dirtier than the Big Guns I put next to it. The inside cabinet wasn't any dirtier than the other, but it just developed black on the playfield for some reason. Another machine I had in an office for over a year. It was only cleaned once and it was played a lot. Probably more important than cleaning the playfield is inspecting the pinballs. A rough ball will act like an abrasive on the playfield. I will randomly inspect the ball in the shooter lane before I shoot. If it looks nice and smooth, I leave it. If it looks a little dinged, I'll replace it. Some machines are harder on pinballs than others. I have some EMs that I've never changed the ball and they still look new.
As for the documentary, it is still in the works but I'm stalled a little on editing it. I'm going to try and release a video in the next week to explain why I haven't released anything lately. It's good news in all. Stay tuned.

@@Pinballorama That's a lot of really good information greatly appreciated (especially about inspecting the balls often). Best of luck with all the editing (I used to love editing myself but now just the thought of it makes me want to puke) any time you get your documentary out I can't wait to see it, there is not nearly enough good pinball content out there.

Very sad day today, after seven years of medical training and hard work a very good friend of mine lost his job because of one minor indiscretion - he slept with one of his patients. After all that time, effort and money spent, he can no longer work in the profession. What a waste! He was a genuinely nice guy and a brilliant mortician.
    (great video, btw!)

I do not seem to be able to buy PT-100 over here in Europe. Any alternatives?

Naphtha. This is sold as clear camping stove fuel. It is also often sold as Zippo lighter fuel.

I wonder if waxing the balls would have any benefit?

A guess; probably not. I think it would rub off fairly quickly against rubber bumpers.
