My go to for cleaning is naphtha. It doesn't do much for really deep ball swirl type stuff like in the video, but for everything else, it works great. Check out the end of the video "Pinballorama #9 - Fixing Old Pinball Bumper Targets". I clean the playfield with naphtha, polish it with Novus 2, then wax. That video shows how well it works - even on a game that hasn't been cleaned in over 20 years.
Try some Brasso you will be pleasantly surprised :) I accidentally spilled some on a Gottlieb "Genie" playfield in 1998 and so I decided to give it a go. It worked amazingly well even though smells like crap. I saw the game in Sept 2016 and it still looks good and has suffered no long term ill effects. I'm surprised you didn't do Magic Eraser and alcohol, but then that method may warrant its own video.
Great video! i have a an issue with my Flight 2000, on the rectifier board it keeps blowing F4 (7a slow Blo ) Coil - 43 VDC on i turn it on. I have GI lights working when turned on, but no flashes on the mpu(which i guess is due to the first part of my question) so i unplugged all the headers from the solenoid, light board and mpu board , turned it on again..and it stil blew, so am guessing i need a new rectifier board?? , (havent pulled this out yet) or is there anything i could try?..am based in UK England.thanks
I made a video on it. For general cleaning I use CP100 or naptha to clean. If the playfield is clear coated, I'm not against using a little simple green or something like that. Not much. Just a light spray on a cloth to help grab the dirt. If the playfield has scuffs, Novus 2. Then wax.

@@lajksdfhalksjfdhas I've pretty much concluded CP-100 and Naphtha are the same thing. I tested them side by side. the smell the same and do the same thing. Then I found the content sheet for CP-100 and yup, it's Naphtha. And yes, this and alcohol (which I use rarely for some things) are my go-to "cleaners". That said, it depends on what I'm up against. For most pinball related dirts, that's usually all you need because it's mostly dust and coil carbon, maybe rubber bits, trapped in old wax. I have used something like Simple Green in small doses to get rid of things like dried soda or beer someone spilled. My Meteor had candy stuck to the playfield under the apron. If Naphtha can't remove it, it's probably in the paint. If that's the case, then I have to decide if I want to go the alcohol and ME foam route. Sometimes I can lightly "sand" out the top layer of paint with ME foam and that's all it takes to make it look clean again. Then I buff that with Novus 2. My general rule of thumb is to try and use products that won't soak into the wood, and if they do, I use them sparingly. I avoid all harsh cleaners. But really, playfields with fairly good paint are fairly resilient. You'd probably have to try pretty hard to damage one with a basic non-harsh cleaner.
Have to say all these videos are great because I get to see the paint some off and realize it’s not what to do. Which is exactly what he’s trying to show.
From what I've found, anything you can clean and remove with Mean Green or Simple Green can be removed with Naphtha. The nice thing about Naphtha is it evaporates completely, quickly, and leaves no residue. That said, I use Mean Green when I clean playfield parts - things like posts, metals, and plastics.

I used Murphy wood cleaner on my 1954 Gottlieb Jockey Club and hasn't wreck it at all
I just cleaned a playfield tonight for the very 1st time and I used my daughter's baby wipes and the playfield looks mint.
I hope they were unused ones. :)
