I'll never tire of this Kenny Barron 'Rembrandt Trio take on this pure gold Rodgers & Hart "Have You Met Miss Jones" with the best-supporting cast- you'll ever see & hear PERIOD.
There are many great jazz pianists, but for me, Barron is among the greatest because of the razor-sharp clarity of his lines, harmonic ideas, and their execution. It all seems so logical and exciting at the same time.
I love Kenny very much, but I can't understand why he is considered downright "great". He always seemed to me a wonderful, bright mainstream musician. But his musical language is not as unique as Evans' or Jarrett's.
@@Robert63675 I think that his greatness stems from the utter mastery of jazz traditions that he possesses. If one goes a bit deeper into his ideas, the seemingly simple or traditional ideas he plays actually show remarkable depth and innovation. While his language may not be as instantly recognizable as Evan’s or Jarrett he still shows such elegance and mastery over the jazz language that it is difficult not to grant him a spot as one of the jazz greats.
@@Robert63675 Yes, you have a point. Barron is not as innovative as the ones you mention. The reason why I think he is among the "greats" - which is a rather loose category - is for the said reasons in the above. I would also add that his touch is very delicate and especially in his live recordings he can get pretty experimental. But this is of course ultimately a matter of personal preference.
When you hear it, it's so effortless and pure and simple, it flows almost linearly. Then you try to play it and wonder how wasn't the complexity and nuance already evident in the first place. Truly marvelous player.
Generally I like this at a slower tempo. But Kenny is just a cut above most other players and his creativity and technique is a pleasure to behold here. Loved it!
Grady Tate always a very tasty and swinging drummer. Later in his career he recorded several albums as a singer which were well received. Kenny swings hard here and the entire trio kills it!
Had a change meeting with Kenny Baron on a Sunday afternoon in Brooklyn walking with a friend...we both were. No need for selfie, it was his time off stage. I respected that. Thanked him for his music and kept it moving. Certain neighborhoods in Brooklyn are like this, you just never know who you'll cross paths with...

Kenny Barron does full justice to this great standard - he is surely in the top rank of great jazz pianists.
This really got me into Kenny Barron omg this band swings so hard

FABULOUS! I'm new to Kenny Barron but you can bet I'll be listening to all his stuff now!
he's great, actually what struck me the 2nd time I listened to it is Bob's Bass sound..really rich
You don't need to leave space when everything you play is this killin
absolute fookin master
He's a beast!
The absolute best arrangement and performance of this gem of a jazz standard. Bravo!
Super grateful to be a student from Kenny’s teaching lineage. Never get tired of listening to this.
Just discovered him few months ago he is a genius. I like how he swings
Who's your teacher?? Also anything you could tell me that you learned?
Ripping through those changes at breakneck tempo with crystalline clarity.

A master of his craft!
The man is genius!!
Swinging genius.
Fantastic. I have been trying it on with this one for half a lifetime.
I’d like to die and come back as Kenny Baron - wow! His solos are musical and make sense
Wonderful.
One of the greatest around today.
Definitely one of the greats. Love this, but my all time favorite is his rendition o Autumn Leaves.
Every instrument sounds amazing
Lovely! I am also new to Kenny Baron.
Best version I've heard😊
OH WOW!!! It makes me want to learn piano, if that even possible at my age...
A true master.
That drummer is really amazing!! What a genius
Grady Tate always a very tasty and swinging drummer. Later in his career he recorded several albums as a singer which were well received. Kenny swings hard here and the entire trio kills it!

A great song beautifully played. A pity Lorenz Hart died and Richard Rodgers took up with Oscar Hammerstein!
I agree. Hart's lyrics were witty and urbane. Hammerstein wasted Rodgers' talents with saccharine and sappy fluff.
