Since Ive watched yiur videos Ive actually started to find gold in San Diego county turns out theres quite a rich history of gold mining here.when you look in the right places thanks to you.. .But your teaching approach is just awesome.. I have seriously learned more from your videos than all the years of school regarding Gold and Geology. I thank you again and look forward to more videos...

    Watching you and Dan Hurd and Jeff Williams , I have been learning a lot , but still got along way to go. Found gold for my first time about two weeks ago,
    10 little pieces at a river here where I live close to my house. If you was with me , you would think I had found a 10 pound nugget. 😄 can’t wait to go back .

    Well done Chris !! You covered all the major (and critical) topics for fine gold recovery. Additionally, I have learned the material flow rate over the sluice should be about 1 ft./sec. Ideally, the water height over the riffles should about 1/4 inch. Any sluice set up half way decent can catch nuggets, however, the real challenge are the fines, which are in abundance. Hope many folks will learn from this great video !! Best of luck to you. Looking forward to your gold in sulfides recovery !

    Thank you for explaining the fine gold recovery method. Now the process makes since to me. I am running my sluice way to fast even though I fed it steady and consistent. I really didn’t understand the flow rate but I do now. I will rerun my concentration over the next couple of days making adjustments for the flow rate and remove the turbulence that is apparent in my sluice system from Gold Hog and their mat structure.
    What kind of miners moss should I use, unpacked or backed? Thank you so much for showing me the errors that I have been making. I have viewed this video now three times before I found my mistakes. Great knowledge and instruction.

    • @ChrisRalph
      @ChrisRalph  ปีที่แล้ว

      I use the unbacked type. So long as it sits flush against the bottom of the sluice, it should not matter much.

    I am happy to see a video that explains the specific science of fine gold recovery in a sluice....
    I watch too many people dump material into a badly angled and flowing sluice and then wonder why there cleanup didn’t have very much gold... 😅
    And yes you are completely right when you mention that just because you see fine gold in your pan , IT DOESNT MEAN you got all the gold.... it’s just means you dumped a bunch out while having kept the fines you are seeing remaining in your pan...
    So many experienced miners don’t understand this concept and it blows my mind haha 🤯🤣
    Hopefully they watch this video and start properly sluicing and slowing down there panning !!!

      clay works like glue in a sluicebox (or a Pan) the gold sticks to it like nothing else and blows out. avoid putting clay in a sluice, break it up totally, or else the clay will remove the gold from your sluice.

    Jet Dry vs some say 1-2 drops dish soap. Not all dish soap is the same.
    Have Jobe 10" sluice w/legs & funky 2" hose attachment box, needs flap to smooth out the water. Trying to find cheap step by step header box build instructions that make sense for converting to highbanker with added garden hose for washing crevices.
    Keene 6" sluice
    Tom & Perry's Clean Up Sluice, need simple adjustable stand instructions, plus I think the valve needs to be moved to one side and not straight into the sluice that plastic thingy doesn't reduce the turbulence at all no matter where I turn the valve.
    I need to know how to set up the smaller sluices or make changes to them from the factory setup.
    You got a gutter sluice build instructions/video for use in low flow gulches or springs or maybe those corrugated plastic pipes? How would you make the flair for them?
    How cheaply can you make a recirculating system?

My biggest wonder and maybe you can touch on it later is getting the black or red sand seperated from the flour gold. I have a blue bowl and as i run the concentrates i see it wash right down the vortex hole. Blue is good for small pickers & placers but not much else. I also have a sluice box but have yet to set it up. I will do that in the spring. I had a lot of 20 /30/ 50 and 100 screened concentrates and black magnetics That i panned first, then ran through the blue bowl. After the second run i dumped 1/2 of it for Gods cut. I will re-run the rest later. Good info sir. Ill probably buy your book too. Kurt Webb Southern Middle Tenessee. At Home Panner.

    Hello Mr. Chris. I've just finished the whole video without feeling the time passing and I'm so grateful for the enlightenment and the time and the amount of information you offered us through these videos. I'd like to ask you if you don't mind. I live by the Nile river.. is it possible to find fine gold in the Nile river coast? Several years ago I watched a documentray about gold on rivers' coasts but the report's videos was taken in Brazil as I reckon and nothing was about Nile or other rivers around the world.
    Sorry for my English. I'm still learning.

    • @ChrisRalph
      @ChrisRalph  ปีที่แล้ว

      Gold is not present in all rivers. Most rivers have no gold. Where rivers rich in gold feed into the ocean, you can find gold in beach sands. For rivers with no gold, you will not find gold in the beach sands.

But I wanted to thank you, thank you for your videos, for sharing your knowledge bank, for all your tips, pointers and short cuts. I am the only rock lover I have ever known. I have never cared about mans value on rocks or minerals or gems, to me it never compared to my intense love for them. Only of late have I been searching to find what I may have accumulated over the years and if I could ever find enough to possibly step out of my profession and possibly get by just doing what I love. So this is my beginning, of course, over halfa century later😱 no the face there is only for a smile🙃🤗. So I will be watching and taking notes and hopefully absorbing all. I love the fact that you tinker and fabricate and share it. I am one of those people that can't stand waste, can't throw away anything that may have a use, and if I can conceive it, possibly I can achieve it types. Believe me, my recirculator won't look as well put together as yours, but it will work. Again, thank you Chris, this is all so very much appreciated🙋

I wanna try the micro mat as well. I realized the big dream mat did collect find gold after looking in a eye loop but I know I lost some as well. But I'm also a beginner so I don't blame the mat. It is in progress. The bio-oxidation of sulfides takes time. The sulfides are in my shed with the little bacteria turning them slowly into rust, and after they are done I will extract the gold. But it takes time. So I have started the video, but its not done yet.

    So, have you tried a Dream mat? What catch's the gold? The mat or the box? The mat does, how long does it take to clean out your box? It takes seconds to clean out a Dream mat. Is miners moss or carpet and expanded metal designed to catch Gold? Dream mat was. Old traditional ways like using a rotary dial phone, how many people still use them? when better tech comes along do we stick with old ways? Lot of good general info. No disrespect here I like your videos great teaching .
