70's Peter Paul Mounds Cake Recipe - Church Cookbook Recipes

Peter Paul Mounds Cake
This cake is AMAZING! First, bake a devil’s food cake mix in a 13x9 pan. Leave cake in the pan and top with FILLING, then pour FROSTING over the top of the cake.
FILLING:
1 CUP SUGAR
1 CUP MILK
12 OZ. FLAKED COCONUT
12 LARGE MARSHMALLOWS (OR 120 MINIATURES)
1 TSP. VANILLA EXTRACT
1/2 CUP FINELY CHOPPED PECANS
Bring sugar & milk to a boil. Add coconut and marshmallows and return to a boil. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Add vanilla and pecans and spread hot filling on top of the baked devil’s food cake.
FROSTING:
2 CUPS SUGAR
2 TABLESPOONS COCOA
1 STICK MARGARINE
12 OZ. CAN EVAPORATED MILK
1 TSP. VANILLA EXTRACT
Mix sugar & cocoa with a wire whisk, then add mixture and all other ingredients except vanilla to a saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until it reaches the softball stage. Transfer to a mixing bowl, add vanilla. Beat until it is pourable (slightly thickened) pour all over the top of the cake.

So glad you are having the procedure on your neck. I have a reoccurring pinched nerve in my neck which I go to the chiropractor for relief but, a neck pain sure is aggravating, isn’t it?

Lord yes, it feels like a permanent crick just awful and I did try the chiropractor first they are amazing
I had nerve ablation on my lower back and it really did help…it was a little tender the first couple of days after I had it done but I’m on my 6th month virtually pain free…I’ll say a prayer for you that you get as much or more relief than I did!!🙏🙏

My MIL used to make this cake years ago. Her icing was runny too. I think it’s way better that way. Wouldn’t be the same with frosting on top.. She put her cake in the lid of her cake holder because it was so moist and gooey. She always said this cake had a “moorish” taste because it made you want more when you ate some. So glad to have the recipe.

I’m on a health journey now, which is a struggle, but i enjoy watching the bad, aka fatty foods, being made. But i do have to say I’m so excited for yall’s new healthy food journey, so i can be inspired. please let us know how you are feeling. I pray what your having done helps. I’ve been battling a occipital nerve issue for 2 years now and its wearing me down😢 we talked about having a nerve block, but I’m scared. This cake looks delicious! I believe I have ate it in the past. Great job! I had custody alone of my two sons and raised them by myself. I learned to cook good ole southern style so we could eat good meals. My youngest is 23 and still home so I watch your show to get some ideas for us. Always enjoy. Prayers for your neck to be better. My husband was a diabetic and the Dr told me to really watch my sugar which I never eat anyway,so I never bake anything sweet. But boy Tammy I will say you really know how to bake cakes. My husband would have loved you and your baking. God rest him.
