Thank you so much for making these videos - they are not only inspiring but also confidence boosting as you take us through the process step by step. I can’t wait to see your finished garment - such lovely colours.
Thank you so much for this. I want to draft Victorian patterns and use my woven wool fabric, but I was scared to cut it. I'm definitely going to be useing the drawing like + sewing method.
Thank you so much for making these wonderful clear and inspirational videos. I have just discovered you and I am so motivated and inspired! I spin and weave on a rigidheddle loom that my husband made me. Recently I keep having the urge to start sewing again - I was never very good and it was when I was just married (my children are now 30 & 33!!) but making all this wonderful fabric makes me want to try my hand. So pleased to have found you😊🙏
Lovely to hear this, I'm so pleased you're feeling keen to get sewing. In the next video I'll put as many tips as I can think of... including the things that can go wrong! We've all been there..... 🤣
Beautiful fabric! I’m a garment sewer and routinely iron the wrong side of the interfacing 😂 You can remove the glue quite easily by ironing on a fabric softening tumble dryer sheet like Bounce. Works like magic…
Hi. I am so impressed with the beautiful things you weave on your Ashford rigid heddle loom. I have just bought this loom and am watching all your videos to get to know more about weaving. I just watched the weaving fabric video and i would like to know how much did you warp for this? In other words how long was the warp. I hope you know what i mean as i may not know the right terms. 15:48 16:44
@Gerritdina the warp was 13 1/2in x 188in, sett 7.5dpi. After weaving and washing I had a piece 12in x 152in. It's my pattern GWT001, in my etsy shop. Glad you're enjoying the videos, happy weaving!
I am wanting to make quilts with my hand woven fabric. I wonder if you would do the same thing for that? Also, with quilts they say to do a quarter inch seam, do you think it would be better to do larger seams with handwoven fabric?
It depends what the fibre is. Wool- probably not, I like to keep some texture. Vegetable fibres probably, because they crease more. Only a very gentle press though as I don't like to knock the stuffing out of it!
Gorgeous!! I’ve just discovered your channel this morning & so far I’ve enjoyed 4 of your videos today!! My question is, do you ever line your shirts.blouses or coats? If so, what kinds of fabric do you use? Will you be doing a video on lining a woven shirt/blouse? It was great learning from you, a Master Teacher! Thank you!!🤗👏🏻
I don't often line my handwovens, but if I do I like to use silk, it doesn't add any bulk and is so lovely to work with. I buy remnants to keep the cost down!
I don't have a video. I usually do a cool 20° wash in the machine, short spin, line dry. Then I wash most of my clothing in a cold wash, short spin. That way it doesn't shrink again
In the video I'm wearing pinafore a dress, my pattern DR009, available from my etsy shop www.etsy.com/uk/shop/GetWeaving In my profile picture I'm wearing dress DR005 and a version of jacket JA007, also in my etsy shop.

This is a brilliant series thank you so much.

Thank you so much for making this video! I am preparing to cut my woven fabric for the first time and you answered all my questions!
Beautiful fabric! Wonderful result :) Thank you for this classes!
Wow, it’s looking really beautiful, the colours work so well together. Thank you so much for sharing.
I think this is your best video yet. All are good, but following this one will prevent problems. Thank you for making these videos.
So glad you like them!

@@getweaving8459 …and now that I’ve found you on Etsy, and placed an order, I’m committed🫣😊😂
Thank you very much for the tips. I have just started to weave, and I am looking forward to making something like this.

Great advice, we've all done that!!
Thank you😀I am so happy I found you. Just startet weaving again, and want to use the garment to wear.
Very helpful! Thank you!
@@annegarcia7707 you're welcome 😊
Fantastic video! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for all inspiring videos. Makes it all less scary and more doable.
Good to hear 👍😊
04.30 - ish - The presentation of that lemon / yellow fabric is beautiful and filled me with joy 🥰
I’m in love with that fabric too. I’d love to see and hear more about it
Brilliant!
@@bluewolfwalking thank you!

Extremely helpful, ty!

I'm really sorry but I can't help here as I know absolutely nothing about making quilts. I hope you find the answers you need.
Thanks for your video. After washing, do you press your fabric before putting on the pattern pieces?
yes
It depends what the fibre is. Wool- probably not, I like to keep some texture. Vegetable fibres probably, because they crease more. Only a very gentle press though as I don't like to knock the stuffing out of it!
Thanks Sarah!
Thank you for the explanation! I’m just starting out in weaving , might sound silly but why are you’re not doing the overlocking on all the edges ?
Not a silly question. I keep the selvedges wherever possible so they don't need overlocking/zigzagging.
Thank you!!!

Or occasionally I'll use cotton lawn- very fine- I wash it first to pre- shrink it
from Gerry- So pretty. I'm ready! Blessings.
Do you have a video on washing your fabric? Do you do this by hand or machine?

@@getweaving8459 thanks, I love the fabric you wove, it's so colorful
What are you wearing? Did you hand weave it from a pattern. What you are wearing is just what I want to make.
In the video I'm wearing pinafore a dress, my pattern DR009, available from my etsy shop

If you get glue on your iron, warm it up and rub with a paracetamol tablet, guess how I know to do this 😂😂😂
Oh, that's interesting! I'll definitely try that, thanks!
