I just wanna say, whilst the relationship has worked in favour for Gia and Envy, to young girls who are experiencing a man that is that level of possessive & jealous in the beginning please LEAVE, that is ABUSE and you are in an abusive relationship! Not everyone's story works out this way and I would hate for something to happen to one of these young girls because they're seeing an example of a positive direction "sticking it out" can lead to. Any man that is damn near isolating you out of "love" or making you feel as though leaving him will cause him to seriously harm himself is a manipulative, abuser that's it.

Valid points. They seem really in love and I’m glad things worked out for them but some of the things expressed were cringeworthy and being normalized. Seemed to be a lot of co-dependency, manipulation, and emotional blackmail. He admitted that most of his toxic behavior was due to insecurity but yeah.

I love that she acknowledged that she understood colorism and light skin privilege. I’m light skin and dealt with some of what she did, however I’ve seen first hand how darker skin women are treated so I understand their frustration. Although it has been taken out on the wrong person, as a people we’ve been so damaged and need healing.
I love Gia and I’m glad they’ve healed as a couple because Envy was really tripping at first in their relationship. She absolutely should have left his ass!

I’m so glad they spoke on the skin tone topic. People like to down play the pure HATE light skinned women get before you can even utter hello. It’s cruel, abusive and it’s colorism in reverse. Even men will try to mistreat you assuming that you’re stuck up. Pretty privilege is real regardless of complexion. It’s 2022 and people still can’t look beyond skin tone
Gia truly needs her own show. She is full of wisdom and she speaks so graceful and passionate. This woman is Beautiful inside and out. Also, thanks for putting light skin privilege out because it does exist in the black community and it’s so hurtful.

Without a doubt you can't help notice how striking GIA is. Once she starts talking during interviews you sense she's not consumed by her looks. She comes across confident yet down to earth makes her even more beautiful, very articulate. As an older woman I'm so impressed with her as a person, wife and mother.
This was awesome!!! Gia is beautiful, confident and seems like a joy to be around. DJ Envy is a lucky dude and I see why he was ready to take it to the bridge if he lost her! Betcha he won’t EVER do that dumb shit again! God bless their union and I wish them another 27+ years!

@@dee27206 I will never understand people that offer a counter perspective with a negative undertone to a very positive comment. Every platform gets to decide what topics they cover and situations that they address. Both platforms created an environment that allowed her personality to shine.
I never leave comments, but this interview was one for the books as a well rounded woman. I so relate to Gia in so many ways, fellow caribbean Brooklynite that moved to Queens as the new girl. Really loved her story and so interested in the book, let them know its more to what meets the eye.

@@JohnDoe-gc1kt I’ve never had a relationship that wasn’t long term, at least 3 yrs or more and I’m 33 (only been in 3). So I guess you could say that. But, I’m going to be completely honest here, when I look back on those relationships it’s kind of sad on my end because I wasn’t getting my needs met and clearly invested a lot of time I can’t get back. Now that I’ve unlearned some unhealthy ways of thinking, I think it’s important for us all to be able to communicate our wants and needs with our partners and feel comfortable doing so. Being a ppl pleaser will leave you drained if you come across the wrong ppl.

I love how Gia spoke about being born & raised in NYC she had to fight for respect. Being a New Yorker I completely agree, it was and still is like that. Because of that most NY WOC are aggressive but Gia remains classy, empathetic & relatable. She could also be fooling me & keeping it cute for camera but I love seeing Grown NY women live in their femininity. It’s very refreshing.

dj envy played the victim role when gia said she was going to leave him, wanted her to feel sorry for him. when he knew what the hell he was doing when he cheated and made that conscience decision. I believe it was all a manipulative tact to get gia to feel sorry for him and not break up with him.

Loved this but yes very very important to remember that this doesn't work for everyone unfortunately. Envy also did the work to get her back and not many men are willing to do this. He literally couldn't live and function without her. Also we are hearing about this and the book because they have healed past it and this is their journey. Granted we can all learn from it.
