@ShinyMetapod Why did you say (watch this video until the end)? Of course we are gonna watch till the end...that line is used by iphone and android app scammers
I don't think it it's possible because the truck flag looks like it gets triggered with any door you walk through. You won't be able to enter the forest or start the team storyline
Alright, here's the explanation: >why that spot in Petalburg? The first map in the map bank is Petalburg. In the Gen 3 engine, you do not teleport to specific coordinates, but rather to a specific warp tile. As you may imagine, warp tile in map 0 with id 0 and offsets 0,0 (because you can specify X and Y offsets) is that spot. >why is the truck still there when I come back? The beginning routine of the game is determined by a variable that tells us what the state of the intro is. State 0 has the truck outside and moves your mom and you inside the house, state 1 asks you to check the clock, state 2 forces you to check the clock (used when you come back down from your room), state 3 is set when you have finished setting the clock, etcetera. When you load the map, the truck spawns if the state is 0. >why is the truck not there when I enter the house? Entering the house sets that state variable to state 1. When you load the map, the truck will spawn only if state is 0 and the cutscene to enter the house will immediately run. This isn't dependent on where in the map you are, only on whether you've entered the map to begin with. Once you've been inside the house, so it will never be 0 again, so the truck immediately unloads. If you know C, check the pret/pokeemerald decomp on github for more details
@@Lucarivyleprobably but unlikely. It all points more towards petalburg just being the first map they made. Kinda like in gen1 rhydon is technically Pokemon with index number 000 making him *the first pokemon* (definitely not lore-wise)
It Validates the Values of the Map and loads it's script starting where you really belong If you escaped in the truck well you'll restart to the game... The reason you might can escape is because after the game thinks we jumped out of the truck the Var sets as if it activates the script were you can't escaped inside the house

There could be some other interesting actions to try, like: If you heal at the pokemon center before fainting without pokemon, will you still spawn in your room? Can you still watch the catching tutorial? Can you grab a pokeball from the ground and catch a pokemon, and then play the game normally? If you receive a jirachi from a guy in the pokemon center via the proper event, can you continue playing normally?
at the end he grabbed a pokemon but then the game warped him back to the start. I wonder what happens if he walks outside the village? Does he get another starter?
If you heal at the pokecenter without Pokémon, you'll softlock. Nurse Joy starts putting Pokeballs everywhere and I think eventually it just crashes. There have been loads of videos that try Pokémon games without getting Pokémon.
- the player escapes from the moving truck rather than joining mom at the new house - where do they escape to? - a house in the town where the player's dad works - their dad's house?! ^ that's how I interpreted "lore accurate". Love the thought process
I always found it funny that there's nowhere for the truck to really enter or leave littleroot town, and why was a 10 year old forced to ride in an un cooled dark box truck for who knows how long?
This door in Petalburg indeed is the default warp. Every warp has a two parameter set numbers. This door is (0,0) I have worked with rom hacks waaaay before and it happens just like that. Plus, there are automated scripts that trigger when you first enter a map, this is why leaving the house restarts the truck script. There are certain spots on the map that also starts a script (route 101), or even that spot at Oldale, when the guy stops you from moving forward. And the trucks only disappears because the initial script (jumping out and entering home) sets a flag of “done”. Plus, I don’t recall what would’ve happened if you were to heal your non existent Pokémon in Petalburg, but if nothing happened and you lost a battle, you would respawn in Petalburg not at your room in Littleroot
2:35 - Nerd Jumpscare!!! Its interesting how the default warp point is in Petalburg City. I would imagine it would warp back to the truck area or Oldale Town. So that's neat I suppose. EDIT: But, is the truck still there tho?!

Others are saying that you go to Petalburg because it's the first map in the game, but I wonder if it might also be an easter egg, Petalburg is where the protagonist's father is, the place they're probably moving from.
@@ShinyMetapod I have a feeling that leaving any location with a door will trigger the exiting the truck part. I hope not but we will see when it happens.

Surprisingly robust these Gen 3 games, if you tried the same sort of trick in Gens 1 or 2 you'd break the game. Seriously, even simply triggering an event on the wrong tile, like Professor Oak taking you to the lab in Red and Blue, could softlock your game getting you stuck in a wall forever. In Emerald, when your mother takes you inside and you're in the wrong spot, you simply phase through the fabric of reality, and return to where you should be.
From what is seen here it should be possible to become champion without despawning the truck, at least if the event flag is only in littleroot and not the entire map. First visit a pokemon center in metallurgy or oldale town to reset the respawn point so you dont get sent home on blackout later. Get the potion from the pc and from the pc in front of the pokemart in Olddale town. Actually what i'm wondering is, once your mom takes you from the truck (or in this case near the truck) the player moves 2 tiles up "following" the mom, so in case the player when forced to move 2 tiles up and there happened to be a door or a warp point after 1 tile do the player pass through or warp through the door?
