- We will Skip the Truck by using the escape rope item. In Pokemon Emerald you start your journey inside the truck, but you can do anything other than jumping out of it. Let's see what happens if we try something else.

I don't think it it's possible because the truck flag looks like it gets triggered with any door you walk through. You won't be able to enter the forest or start the team storyline

Alright, here's the explanation:
>why that spot in Petalburg?
The first map in the map bank is Petalburg. In the Gen 3 engine, you do not teleport to specific coordinates, but rather to a specific warp tile. As you may imagine, warp tile in map 0 with id 0 and offsets 0,0 (because you can specify X and Y offsets) is that spot.
>why is the truck still there when I come back?
The beginning routine of the game is determined by a variable that tells us what the state of the intro is. State 0 has the truck outside and moves your mom and you inside the house, state 1 asks you to check the clock, state 2 forces you to check the clock (used when you come back down from your room), state 3 is set when you have finished setting the clock, etcetera. When you load the map, the truck spawns if the state is 0.
>why is the truck not there when I enter the house?
Entering the house sets that state variable to state 1. When you load the map, the truck will spawn only if state is 0 and the cutscene to enter the house will immediately run. This isn't dependent on where in the map you are, only on whether you've entered the map to begin with. Once you've been inside the house, so it will never be 0 again, so the truck immediately unloads.

I also think that maybe, they first thought about letting you start in Petalburg.
@@Lucarivyleprobably but unlikely. It all points more towards petalburg just being the first map they made. Kinda like in gen1 rhydon is technically Pokemon with index number 000 making him *the first pokemon* (definitely not lore-wise)

There could be some other interesting actions to try, like:
If you heal at the pokemon center before fainting without pokemon, will you still spawn in your room?
Can you still watch the catching tutorial?
Can you grab a pokeball from the ground and catch a pokemon, and then play the game normally?
If you receive a jirachi from a guy in the pokemon center via the proper event, can you continue playing normally?
at the end he grabbed a pokemon but then the game warped him back to the start. I wonder what happens if he walks outside the village? Does he get another starter?
This video is really cool, and I love stuff like this. However, if I could offer some constructive criticism: begging us to watch until the end is very annoying. If your content is good, people will choose to stay and watch.

These types of errors remind me of RPG maker errors caused by parallel processes. The game follows a routine.

@@alexanderelderhorst2107 Be mindful they also did not enter or leave a building after the starting point in the other town. I've seen glitches and such that can send someone to the other side of the map.
There is something you could add....
After you leave the professors place and it acts as if you are leaving the truck. If you were to walk and rescue the professor, would he still be in danger and give you a second mon?

I always found it funny that there's nowhere for the truck to really enter or leave littleroot town, and why was a 10 year old forced to ride in an un cooled dark box truck for who knows how long?

One idea I had was what if you go into the Pokemon Centre would you respawn in there instead of your room? Also, is it exiting any building that triggers the mom cutscene? Very interesting video tho, would love to see someone try and go through as much of the game without talking to mom as possible but having to talk to Birch might ruin that 🤣

Pretty sure after the second time, it would have been pretty clear that going through the segment after jumping off the truck removes the truck. Continually asking if it's still there is just silly.
I tested this myself by saving in the truck, and PkHexing in a few escape ropes into the game.
Sadly it's one of those DAD'S advice... *player* , there's a time and place for everything!
Everything else is accurate, you just can't teleport to Petalburg.

I remember when i bought ruby. Idk why but i got this super faint rush of nolstia remembering the first day i got it. I just remember how weird it felt seeing all the new pokemon. But its weird, to get the nostalgic feeling i cant just think about the game i have to think of the events that led up to it, think about my child hood home and my bedroom, put my self back into the shoes of 10 year old me. And if i only focus on those memories i can get this like this super nostalgic memory that flashed into my mind but leaves almost as quick as it came. Kinda makes me sad because now im just a big fat 30 year old looser. 🤣

I think that they made all of those placeholders things to prevent the game stop working and potentially corrupt your save data

If you were to give yourself an escape rope and pokeballs, could you catch a wild pokemon to replace the glitch pokemon, and then progress and even beat the game without ever choosing a starter or hopping out of the truck?

What happens if you pick the berry’s and sell them intil you have enough money to buy balls? Catch a pokemon and see how far you can go.
So in theory you coukd give yourself a few pokeballs or some money to buy a few and use the escape rope and then catch any pokemon you choose as your starter?

Actually what i'm wondering is, once your mom takes you from the truck (or in this case near the truck) the player moves 2 tiles up "following" the mom, so in case the player when forced to move 2 tiles up and there happened to be a door or a warp point after 1 tile do the player pass through or warp through the door?
But what if, you come out of a building that is in another town? Since the game seems to count it as coming out of the truck, will it break the theme song playing in the background? lol

What happens if you escape the moving truck, walk from Petalburg all the way back to Littleroot, and clip through the wall to walk past Birch? Do you then get to see the truck uninhibited?

Sadly lamer then expected. Thought you might have found out a way to rewrite the code for the sequence in Littleroot Town so that the truck will stay there by changing up some variables that the game didn't calculate in. All I can say is that I pray that this is the last video I watch from your channel if YT is drunk again, otherwise I might start disliking the recommended video.
Also there was no explaination on your end at the end. So new people don't even get the parameters for why that event works like that explained too!
