I miss Thailand. Glad your breathing is good Chuck. My Stepfather in Oklahoma had the same surgery as you. The doctor didn't follow up like your doctor in Thailand. My Stepfather grew scar tissue which required a second surgery months later. Your doctor seen you a week after surgery, seen some scar tissue and pulled it out. You're in good hands. 👍
The roads to khon kean are great scenery, my wife is the same as Paige, I drive and she busy or sometimes falls asleep ,since I made it to Thailand I’ve been so busy and enjoying everything about it, this is gonna be a place I spend months out of the year , Chuck your videos keep getting better and better they are fun and informational for us and the other viewers, it’s only obvious that more viewers are coming and enjoying let’s all get the thumbs up 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🇺🇸🇹🇭🇹🇭
I used to live near Kalisan and there is a farm/ranch that raises beef which is outstanding beef, better than USDA Choice (I think it might be Prime grade). I forget the name, sorry, but you can probably find by doing a web search or talk to some other Expats. I would go there every 1-2 months and buy 10-20 Kilos and was never disappointed. There is also a British guy that grew Beefsteak Tomatoes near Kalisan too. Wish had some names and locations for you but it has been 10 years. I currently live in the Philippines and I buy my meat from S&R which is a Costco knock-off that sells imported meat from NZ, Australia and the US but it is no where as good as I found in Thailand.
Mira got popular(ish) due to Mighty Car Mods. They setup an all wheel drive turbo version. Here in the US, you go to the ER and a dose of Ibuprophin and sip of mylanta is $150

Love fillet, though the cheaper cuts I tenderise with Papaya, mashed up and cover steak with it for 1 hour in a plastic bag in fridge, then wash off before cooking, season as normal with sea salt and black pepper before cooking...02:59am here now so cooking a pizza and going to watch The Invaders. My husband was just in the Hospital (Kaiser) for an infection he spent 4 days there and we had a bill for $5,96086 US dollars and we have crappie insurance through his work we had to pay another 2,000.00 when he left the hospital and the only thing they did was give him an antibiotic through a IV....but he is better but it cost a lot here in California.

Chuck you know this. If you want to have a good steak go to Taste of Texas in Houston. Been there and it was good Of course you are spoiled from living there. It will never be the same in Thailand .

Thanks for bringing us along to Khon Kaen. We've been there a number of times and have enjoyed the evening market there. When we've stayed in Khon Kaen, we stayed at the Charoenthani Hotel. They have a nice breakfast buffet. Wat Nong Wang is also another interesting place to visit. We've generally avoided beef except in goitio (ก๋วยเตี๋ยว). My all-time favorite Isaan dish is minced catfish (ลาบปลาดุก). I love all the other minced dishes, but catfish is my all time favorite. The lady in our Monday and Friday farmer's market looks forward to seeing me come to buys some. :) Saw that smile on your face with that Leo in your hand. :) Hope you're well on the mend Chuck! I saw a product on Shark Tank a couple of weeks ago that might be an option instead of wearing that mask. It was called 'First Defense Nasal Screen' I think. It might be worth checking into. Just enter 'shark tank nose filter' in YTube search box. Anyway, just thought I'd mention it.
The Australian strip loin in Makro is pretty good for the price. A 2.2 Kg package is less than 800 baht and I cut about seven thick steaks out of that. Little bit of gristle in spots but about 95% is tender and lovely. I cook them over Thai hardwood charcoal on my Weber grill that was lugged from the USA about 10 years ago. Like you I am a steak snob and have yet to find a good steak outside of Bangkok at a restaurant. OBTW the Kosa hotel in Khon Kean is pretty nice.
I don't know if it would be appropriate for your condition. But I use a Neti Pot fairly regularly. It really helps with sinus infections and stuffy noses. I think you are just cursed when it comes to getting steak in Thailand... lol Thanks for sharing Chuck and Paige and Soi Mafia.
You're not having luck with 'chicken sliders' and steaks...maybe burgers are the way to go for you? Follow Paige's lead and you can't go wrong. Her meals always seem to turn out good.

Recently read a posting about some discomfort you have experienced in the perineal region when riding your bicycle. Have you tried Bag Balm? Protects tissue, washes out easily with cold water and laundry liquid, much cheaper than many of the designer lubricants, cow tested.

I use the GPS to go to some temple in Udon in Jan 2017. We follow all the directions only to find out that we made a complete circle to pass the main hwy and lost 40 mins when my other family members that followed us had gotten there before us...lol. I hate to use GPS. Sometimes it doesn't make sense..lol

For emergency case, it is right to go to private hospital for first aid but later it is better to change to public hospital. At Khon Khan university, I am not sure if they have special care like university hospital in Bangkok or not. Its medical cost is between private and public hospital.

Your hotel room dilemma, all of the hotels I have stayed in the cheaper rooms (standard) are closer to the ground and the more expensive rooms (superior and deluxe) are on the higher levels of the hotels. If you book the cheaper rooms you will be on lower floors.
Chuck, you need to tell them how to make salsa ( Thai people doesn’t know what salsa is ) the ingredients are there so it would be perfect with those chips!

Next time that happens, stop by the hospital finance department. Most people don't know this, but they are often willing to negotiate the price down.

Just to let you Chuck JC or Kev can't remember which did a vid about health insurance in Thailand not too long ago and the broker is in country and no age limit with coverage.
Your hotel room dilemma, all of the hotels I have stayed in the cheaper rooms (standard) are closer to the ground and the more expensive rooms (superior and deluxe) are on the higher levels of the hotels.
If you book the cheaper rooms you will be on lower floors.
