In Today's episode, we're going to cover all 18 of the primarch very loosely. This should give everyone a great understanding of at least who all of the major "players" are.
It's a bit confusing stepping into such a huge and sweeping lore, but this will give you some perspective on their relationships, and their legions' individual importance.

I've listened to this (and many other lore vids) many times despite knowing most of it already (due to watching lore vids over and over) Can't get enough of 40k lore, it's so good. Never once played the table top though despite watching the vids and read a lot of the books.

Magnus is my favorite primarch by far. My boy got fucked over when he only tried to do the right thing.
some interesting facts about perturabo he was actually friends with magnus the red they often searched Terra for ancient relics until he was tricked to build magnu's courtroom nikea, in the new alpharius book he mentions perturabo is the most humble primarch i found this contradicting and wish they elaborated more on that, btw why did you stop making these videos cause they are great would have loved the Lorgar vid

They should retcon that alpharious died and just make a random ass Astarte in a story go full apeshit against a whole chapter or something in 40k

Vulkan would be great. I've read that omnibus, and I don't know quite enough about him as I do, say, Roboute Guilliman or Leman Russ. That'd be sweet.

I feel sorry for Angron, he’s the most human out of all the primarchs. I love Angron and Sanguinius.
the "Raw Deal" award goes to both Angron and Kurze. you talk about 2 dudes who got COSMICALLY SCREWED, these guys take the cake. both Nostromo and Nuceria were compliant worlds, yet both seemed to be REALLY off the beam as far as actual COMPLIANCE goes. almost makes you wonder what kin of emperor would tolerate such situations.

I agree 100% with your choice of favorite Legion/Chapter.
There's things I like about each of them, but my favorite by far is The Blood Angels. They had Sanguinius the greatest Primarch, which all the others including Roboute and Horus agreed upon. He singlehandedly wrecked a Bloodthirster multiple times, and oneshotted a Keeper of Secrets. He and his Legion stood with and beside The Emperor defending the Imperial Palace and ending the Horus Heresy. He even gave his life up, knowingly and without hesitation, for his Father, his Sons, The Imperium, and for all mankind.
He was born a hero, he lived a hero, and he died a hero. Mentally brilliant, witty, and dedicated. Physically powerful, quick, and tough. Socially charming, charismatic, and graceful. He's got it all, he did it all, and the only regret of his existence is that it had to end so early.
His Legion's bond with him was, and is, so strong that when he died they not only felt it but we're permanently marked by the tragedy. They fight still for their father and their father's father, despite this painful flaw born of their terrible loss. They also restrain themselves during that fighting despite a whole other flaw that makes them hunger for bloodshed.
Their Legion, and later their Chapter and all its successors, have countless members who are great heroes of The Imperium.
I can keep going, but I think everyone gets the message. If they don't, they never will. FOR THE EMPEROR AND SANGUINIUS!

This is the absolute truth. Of all the Primarchs, Sanguinius was best suited to Rule. In his fury, I don't think even Angron could have triumphed, and his skill is on par with the Lion. Yet his greatest strength lies in his ability to appeal to everyone. He treats people like people.

Love it my dude but just a heads up in Fear to Tread, Horus actually wants to get rid of Sanguinius since he believed that Sangria Maria would become a sort of rival to his leadership of the rebellion. Erebus didn’t care much about stroking Horus’s throbbing ego so he kept trying to stick to the original plan of converting Sangu Jangu

I'm sure you'll get to it in the specific vid, but it is worth noting that White Scars are one of the more psychic of the Legions. In addition to their focus on speed, their Storm Seers are their other most notable aspect. Blood Angels too, to the point that modern 40k gives them Librarian _Dreadnoughts_ , which is obviously extremely fucking cool, haha.
Anyway, going to go watch the vid for Magnus now, who is obviously the best Primarch, and whose only crime is trying to save his brother, his father, and then his children.

Yup :) That's me. I am not an OLY lifter... I'm just a strongman type dude... I focus on the Deadlift and Overhead Press. I like this video. I checked out your channel saw a lot of game type videos but I love the Warhammer 40K lore so whenever you upload those videos I will check them out. I am a voracious reader and this year I finished reading Dan Abnett's Eisenhorn series, Ravenor Series and Gaunt's Ghosts Series minus the latest book. I then read Ben Counter's Grey Knight's trilogy and I am reading ADB's Night Lords books right now.
When you get the chance, please do a video about the different dynamics between the various factions / primarchs / legions. For example: Konrad Curze's relationships with all his brothers (I am a Night Lords fan), etc. Basically various political and personal relationships between key personalities: like how Abaddon the Despoiler was able to become the BOSS of Chaos Undivided, etc. Please do this, sir! :)

Oh MAN Dan Abnett is great. I love WHFB, but it's 40k thay I know the most about. I've played far more of it and read a ton more. Aaron Dembski-bowden and his Soul Hunter series are some of the finest books to ever hit the black library!!

What is WHFB? Warhammer for beginners? Right now most people are obsessed with 30k but I haven't gotten into that part of the lore. I hope they make a 40+k so we know what happens as each of the primarchs begins to return / be resurrected.

Question though! Most seem to favour Blood Angels, yet it's the Blood Ravens we constantly hear about in the games with the exception of what.. Ultramarines in 1 game and like.. That's it? :< I don't recall the chapter on Space Hulk but I imagine that has to be the Death Watch, but even so! Why is all of Dawn of War just.. Blood Ravens?!
Space Hulk is the Deathwing Termiantors of the Dark Angels! They wanted to make something entirely unique that had its own story so they wouldn't have to worry about any of the canon lore! that's at least what i remember from the interviews back in the day ;)
Aaah, cool! I recently started playing it again now that I got the upgraded computer, but nobody seems to play it so I just began to fool around in Campaign mode to smash Genestealer mutants and other nasties. Amazingly looking game! I hope the update they speak of will really kick it back into the favourites.

Just recently dipped into the 40k universe for the first time. I'm interested in the history of the primarchs specifically. Is there books I should be reading to find out about them or is going straight for the hours heresy advisable?

Horus doesn't tell Sanguinius he should have been Warmaster. He tells that to the remembrancer when he is dying from the stab wound of the Anathame. Quite a few other errors too but overall not a bad video.

in Fear to Tread directly after being promoted to warmaster, Horus retires to his personal quarters and Sanguinius follows him. Horus tells Sanguinius he should have been warmaster.

I like to think one of two deleted were one of them was jus like the emperor the other malcador leading them to try to create their own crusade but in a proper way not chaos influenced and it was a threat to obviously the big E so they were subsequently deleted

If I was emperor I would have made Vulcan warmaster. But I love the way that they humanized the emperor by making Horus warmaster as it shows the humanity and that the emperor is fundamentally flawed only realising mistakes in the books as we do

If you could meet one primarch which would it be? Vulkan and Russ would probably be the friendliest since their legions care deeply for mortals.

Magnus, Mortarian, Sanguinius, and i dunno...Guilliman are my top four Primarchs. In that order from first to fourth
I want to point out that the White Scars are an amalgamation of sorts of a number of Asian cultures. The title of Khan is chosen to stand out and be different from the Emperor as all the other cultures they exemplify (Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Thai) use the title of Emperor for their leader. Not because they are entirety of Mongol culture.
Examples of other cultures are: the first company being the Dragon Guard (first Emperor of China's personal army), the spiritual and elemental aspects of their librarians (Japanese Shinto), the spiritual balance of their unarmed martial arts (Korean Yin/Yang), the brutal bone breaking techniques of the unarmed and melee combat (Muay Thai) and Jaghatai himself has been revealed in newer books using Bushido style swordfighting meshed with the adaptable swordfighting of Arnis (Filipino sword/stick style) and the more acrobatic styles of China. No im not talking about flips and such im talking about fighting on ledges or narrow confines or above the ground.
I really hope they flush out more of the White Scars in the new books to come so people will get a better idea of their culture and abilities.

That's entirely subjective. People in the Imperium don't see skulls as being "a symbol of evil" either; it's just a nondescript human head, a uniting symbol that relates with all humans.

The 2nd Primarch was Lobo - who butchered everyone on his planet and then told the Emperor to go and... (HERESY), so Russ killed him (or so he thought)... the 11th Primarch was King Vegeta - found in his great ape form. Embarrassed to acknowledge the mighty Saiyajin as one of his sons, the Emperor turned his great fleet and left the system.
P.S. 20:16 - it's pronounced "RAW-BOOT-É GHILLIE-MON"
Yeah I've since listened to a bunch of audiobooks and have changed my pronunciation going forward. it's so annoying because i had to take an average of the pronunciation since they were different in a lot of them. so annoying. THANK YOU BATTLE BROTHER!
Honestly, I don't really like his Legion (although it's pretty much a badass convention), but HAVE to love Curze. He's far too good a character

aside from what's in the rulebook, i JUST got the 8th edition codex, so i need to read to see if they expanded on it... but it seemed like a pretty gnarly way to integrate Primaris marines into the chapter :/ i don't think i'll be taking many in my BA list as is

I really like your videos, i love 40k lore but almost everyone who makes videos about it takes it all a bit super cereal usually putting on an infuriating voice like there some fucking smug academic. honestly your best bet is just going in on either a chapter or primarch you like the most, they are releasing a separate book series for each one now..
if you have the fortitude, get a list of all of the Horus Hersey novels, and get started! 1-4 are the only ones that you REALLY need to read in order, the rest are here and there on the timeline (up to a certain point). skip the anthologies for now to just get the quick and hard facts..
but i love the Space Wolf series with Ragnar Blackmane a lot.. there's SO many good ones. do you have a favorite chapter/primarch yet?

Read Aurelian. Was small limited edition horus heresy book about logar going into the eye. its amazing and really, I almost want to say retconned, how pussy he comes across early on in the books. almost like he finds his confidence and because of that realisation becomes kick ass
i really REALLY enjoyed the first heretic.. i love Aaron Dembski-Bowden.. Aurelian basically expands on the part in the First Heretic where they go int othe eye and that's just rad.. so rad.

My friend has a crazy theory that Guilliman actually kills the Emperor when he gets back to Terra in order to fully enact the Imperium Secundus and save the Imperium from the itself, the evil and damned place it became to stay functional. I'm skeptical. Guilliman is definitely a bit disillusioned sure and maybe I could see him eventually doing something like that but really there is no need now with him leading that successful crusade to roll back the gains Chaos got from cracking open the Cadian gate and making warp travel at least somewhat viable across the galaxy again.

there's a lot of people that say he's one of the lost ones, but i don't think so.. i think he's just a super cool human. it's not in the same universe "technically." They retconned that not too long ago.

ItalianSpartacus Ah man really! He is my favorite. He wins with his superior will, strategy, and mind. He is also an idealist who begrudges all of the Emperor worship and darkness of the Imperium. He truly wants something better for humanity and is one of the few with the iron will to fight for that truly better imperium. He was also willing to delegate and not take power when he tried to crown Johnson and eventually Sanguinius at the head of the Secundus. He could have become Emperor post heresy and consolidated all power around him but in fact he decentralized power with the chapter system, even breaking up and weakening his own legion.He is a Cincinnatus and not a Caesar or Anthony like other primarchs are like Horus. Yeah he is a bit of an ass to get along with but I think that adds to his character in a way. He is tough, idealistic, truly virtuous, and posess the true mettle of a warrior that even Horus knew would have to be dealt with for them to have any chance.
That theory is wrong. Read Dark Imperium. Also no Sigmar has nothing to do with WH40k. We already know the "Lost" ones weren't actually lost. Again, new information on them in recent novels.
