SAVE RALPH is a powerful stop-motion animation short film featuring Oscar winner Taika Waititi as the voice of Ralph, who is being interviewed for a documentary as he goes through his daily routine as a “tester” in a lab. HSI’s #SaveRalph campaign tackles the cruelty of animal testing in an original and unexpected way-using the story of one bunny to shine a light on the plight of countless rabbits and other animals in laboratories around the world.
While Ralph is animated, the miseries he endures in the short film are far from made up. As Spencer Susser, the director of Save Ralph, says, “It's so important that Ralph feels real because he represents countless real animals who suffer every day.”
Susser, known for his film Hesher, is among a slate of powerhouse celebrities and influencers who collaborated with Humane Society International on the making of Save Ralph. In addition to Waititi as Ralph and Gervais as the interviewer, the film has Zac Efron as Bobby, Olivia Munn as Marshmallow, Pom Klementieff as Cinnamon and Tricia Helfer as Cottonballs.
Producer Jeff Vespa (Voices of Parkland) teamed up with the Arch Model studio of puppet maker supreme Andy Gent (Isle of Dogs, The Grand Budapest Hotel) and Executive Producers Donna Gadomski, Troy Seidle and Peter Kline on the production.
Since its April 2021 premiere, Save Ralph has raised global awareness of the cruelty of cosmetic animal testing and motivated millions of people around the world to sign HSI’s petition to ban this unnecessary practice. As a result, the film helped propel Mexico, Brazil and Canada to ban cosmetic animal testing and is helping advance legislation in several countries that make up the world’s most influential beauty markets.

Ralph once had a family, it seems he had 3 kids and a wife. After they experimented on all of them but Ralph survived. After their death he tries to forget and hold it in but he just has a certain emptiness that you can feel. Truly a touching short film that shows you the cruelty of animal testing. A loving being being tortured for the use of humans.

Sure, if you're willing to sacrifice yourself and your family for the sake of science i'm sure plenty of animal lives will be spared. But the testing has to keep going. We can't possibly fathom the effect of a certain medicine or cosmetic product without testing it on a genetically resembling living organism. And we can't survive without medication so 🤷

The reason for this short film to be so impactful is that they make you think about the rabbit as an equal: He lives in a home like yours, he talks about his family and friends, he lives like us until his "work" takes all that away. The team behind this animation did great. People who don't think about animal lifes being as important as theirs, had the opportunity to change that thought with this video.

I didnt watch it it would be too sad but I was already thinking non stop about animal testing for several years even before this video came out. I spend all my time finding scientists online and insulting them. I met many sick fucks online. The stuff they said haunts me. I met thousands of scientists no exaggeration and doctors. The whole medical field and scientific is based on animal testing. The whole fields should be destroyed. All medical research and scientific is mad Science experiments on animals. They have to stop making medicine it's torture. It's better for people to die than torture the weak and defenceless. Not saying refuse medicine that's impossible and those taking it aren't to blame for this atrocity. But they shouldn't make it in the first place.

The medical field is about giving animals toxic chemicals and disease. Torturing the weak to heal the strong, doing atrocities now for miracles later. Making medicine isnt worth nazi experiments/animal testing experimenting on animals is the same as on people. They shouldnt make medicine so people cant use it its better for people to die of disease than do nazi experiments/animal testing. I dwell on my hatred for all doctors and scientists every minute of every day for years.

@Resolver 101 I don’t support animal testing, but it doesn’t work that way. If you try it on dead animals, you wouldn’t be able to realize internal problems that may happen because the inside of the animal wouldn’t function anymore. I feel like there is no other way to stop animal cruelty unless we start testing on humans, but that would cause total chaos. it isn’t as easy as you make it sound, sadly.

@@stantamara1959 please don't give up brushing your teeth, the rabbit wouldn't want you to feel the pain of losing your teeth, that doesn't help him. There is makeup / toothpaste / soap / shampoo that isn't tested on animals and isn't sold in countries where testing is obligatory. It takes a while to get familiar with which brands to use but it is so worth it and once you've done it it's easy to just keep buying them.
It's also sad to hear from him that he calls the operation to him as his job when it's not. Any kind of animals doesn't deserves to be a animal tester just for a beauty cosmetic.

@@HiBuddyyyyyy I think it’s probably because testing drugs is less well physically noticeable rather than to make up we’re burns are more likely to happen.. but in my opinion like ingesting is worse than physically you know

It's not just make up, they also tested stuff like shampoo and soap as well. But there are free animal cruelty brands out there that we can use.

its disgusting, the whole world has basically turned into hell because of humans. imagine going through all that pain just for some lipstick or shampoo. the most tested animal is beagles (the dog) im pretty sure. you can look at it online but its very triggering, i wouldnt advise looking. i remember accidentally seeing one and it showed something like beagle parts layed out on a table. im still scarred today and it keeps replaying in my mind. like jesus i wouldnt buy one of those products (that were tested on animals) if i was the last person on the planet and i needed it to survive

Yeah but soaps and shampoos are essential... there's alternatives of course, some more expensive than others. Or you can make your own. For example my grandma likes to wash her hair with egg mixed with essential oil or sometimes dry rice (yes really).

@@frcggi3 Excellent. Good. Well done! You are part of the change. If you have time, you are able to go to the websites of the big brands and give them feedback. If you say "I don't buy your products because of animal testing" you can hit them in the profit and they are more likely to change (more likely, not guaranteed) because they will have metrics for understanding the lost sales. Please don't think I'm high-roading you, I am just letting you know in case you decide to act further.

@@M3Gam3rle2 there are non-profit groups that list the legitimate markers and which companies are actually cruelty free. You can look them up. When you replaced your products once, you'll know what to get next time too.
