    I forgot to mention the cost in the video, I don't mind sharing this info, in case anyone was interested;
    MSRP for this truck was $49,873 Canadian + HST (13%) = $56,356
    Now, I ordered it in June 2019 during Fords "Summer Sale" event (saved $3500), paid cash (saved another $4,500) and with a Ford Employee Pricing Rebate (saved an additional $5000) we saved over $14,500 and bought this truck for $35,357
    Because it's a company truck, we save the tax, so that's the final price.
    Additionally, the law here in Ontario, Canada states that if your truck is a Single Cab, you can use it 50% Personal and 50% Business.
    If it was a Super Cab or a Crew Cab, you can only use it 10% Personal and 90% business.
    So for every 100km as personal use, I'd have to force myself to put 900km business.
    Single Cab was the way to go!

      Love the content! I went the other way and did a 2" front level. I also added the Torsen front diff, and 34" tires. I was really surprised to see that your 5.0L with the trailer tow package and rear locker has the super 8.8" rear diff. Mine is a 9.75" rear diff. It seems the only difference is that I have the 3.73's and the snow plow package.

    I would have left it alone, i thought it looked good but if anything maybe a front leveling kit to even it out. 250.00 installed here in the US. Over time with towing the rear would settle. Nice truck

    • @EliminatorPerformance
      @EliminatorPerformance  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Gary, and many have suggested the front leveling kit, but I honestly don't want it any higher! Plus, I like the sporty look of a leveled truck.
      As for the rear end sag if I tow, I'll be installing an Air Ride air bag helper kit for the rear (adjustable from 1-100psi) to assist with towing!

    you do know that whoever told u that u needed to remove the fuel tank and the muffler were lying to u. no need to remove the front spring bolts only loosen them. all your work is being done to the rear. no need to remove the front bolts. dont give yourself unnessary work . to anyone reading this . loosen the front bolts loosen the rear get a transmission jack under the axle to support the weight. then remove the rear brackets. u then lift the entire rear axle and install the longer brackets at the rear and torque them down . you can then loosen the u bolts and use the jack to take the weight of the axle. now remove the u bolts completely.remove the blocks and lower the axle back onto the springs. and replace ur u bolts and torque them down. remove the jack and dont forget to re torque the front bolts. lower the entire thing onto its wheels and then go over all ur bolts with the correct torque settings . no need to mess with your exhaust or fuel tank .

    Leave the rear alone.
    Raise the front a couple of inches ,put 33.00 inch BFG offroad's on it and a tough looking front brush guard and a matching colored canopy on the bed and it will look like an old full size Bronco.

    Leverage man. I’d have left the rear stock and invest in an ergonomic stow-able bed ramp(s) aswell as maybe a bed winch or bed crane depending on what else you’re loading. However to each his own, there’s a good argument for either solutions.

    nice truck ! i had a similar one in 1998 with the stepside and i used a 2 inch drop shackle from aftermarket but didnt do any pinion angle shims and it seemed fine.
    FYI; it came stock with a side exit exhaust which i think was prematurely rusting the aluminum wheels cuz there was green pitting on that passenger side rear wheel. it still had a yr of warranty so Fords fix was to install a rear exit ehaust tip.

  • @traekiser213
    @traekiser213 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you just loosen the front leaf spring bolt and nut, once you remove the rear shackle nuts from the bolts, you can use your jack to raise the axle and raise the bolts above the frame between the bed of the truck and push the bolts out. The lazy option would be ordering new bolts altogether and just cutting them. But dropping the fuel tank is drastic and Ford performance recommended such to keep you from wanting to do the work yourself and taking it to a ford certified mechanic. I do however appreciate the advice on the shorter U bolts from the 2wd truck and the transmission shim. I was just gonna settle for the 1 1/2 inch drop the shackle kit itself offers.

  • @dewrus2153

    Just a note on the issue of the spring bolts...another option would be to buy two new bolts, loosen the ones you have and cut them behind the head, and then reinstall everything using the new bolts but just put them in the other direction. It would cost a little money...but dropping the fuel tank and the exhaust can be a hassle so spending a few bucks on new bolts would be the way I'd go. Here in the US, the Ford bolts from the dealer are $5.80 each so it isn't expensive when you compare dropping the tank and the exhaust versus spending $12 on bolts. BTW...I'm strongly considering getting a 2020 regular cab XLT. Are there any tips you would have? The only issue I seem to be having is that I can't seem to option a regular cab with a sliding rear window. I like having the slider in my current truck to haul long boards that I can pass into the cab. Is there any way to get a slider in a regular cab? Thanks for any info.

    • @EliminatorPerformance
      @EliminatorPerformance  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Drop is already done, I had it done by a local shop and cost $384 which is fine by me because it drives great (better than factory).
      I now have the shackles and rear blocks removed and it has 1⅜" of rake which is perfect because once I load my trailer up the truck sits level.
      The window you'll have to install after you buy it (simply purchase and OEM Ford slider and get a glass shop to install it) they'll probably purchase your old window too because they'll end up using it eventually. They don't offer many options with the RCSB, so nothing other than rear defrost is available (and I recommend against rear defrost because the windows blow out and it's a single cab so they heat up quick).
      I LOVE this truck, and you will too!
      My advice would be to get the snowplow package and maybe fx4 for an extra $1000, the snow plow pack at the minimum for the 9.75" rear differential (larger than the factory 8.8")
      Also, definitely get 3.55 or 3.73 gears, anything less makes the 5.0 sluggish.
      This truck is sweet, but if I could buy it again there's a couple things I would've done differently.
      I plan on doing a full video sometime in the near future.

    • @dewrus2153
      @dewrus2153 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EliminatorPerformance - Awesome...thanks for the information. I currently have a 2004 F-150 with the 5.4 and 3.73's. I definitely plan on getting the 3.73's in my new truck because I upsized the tires slightly (285/70/17) on my 2004 and am glad for the gearing...so the extra gearing in my new truck would be perfect if I increase tire diameter when it's time for new treads.
      That's a bummer about the slider. I could swap it out for a factory slider as long as the window openings are the same. I don't need power or defrost...just a simple manual slider for hauling long stock is sufficient.
      Here in the US, the plow prep package is a $50 option. It doesn't say anything about the differential but if it's the same here as in Canada, I'll definitely do that as I'd much rather get the 9.75.
      I'd love to see a full video...and am glad your drop shackles made it exactly how you want it. That amount of rake seems perfect to me.
      One question...do you have experience with Line-X bed linings? I ask because I definitely want a spray-in liner. My current truck has a Line-X. I've been abusing the bed for 16 years and it has held up great. A Line-X is about $450 here in the US but the Ford spray in is $595. If you have any experience with both, I was wondering what your opinion is as to how they compare (which one is better).
      Thanks again for all your information. I just subscribed to your channel so I won't miss your new videos.

      A little stiff yes, but I actually enjoy it, feels more planted. However, the back does seem to jump around a bit.
      I'm going to be upgrading the rear to Bilstein shocks in the spring! I have the payload/tow package so the leaf springs are a bit beefier, makes for a stiffer ride.
      And the 22" wheels I had on make it even stiffer (running winter tires on my stock 17's now).

    I have a 2019 regular cab F-150 that's pretty much on the other end of the pricing spectrum from yours. It's a 2WD F-150 with a 3.3L V6. The only perks it has over the most basic fleet-style F-150 are the chrome appearance package, a spray-in bed liner, power windows, and tinted windows.
    Personally, I wouldn't have wanted an EcoBoost engine even if it had been within my budget. I think you made the right call when you decided to go with the 5.0L V8. I'm sure the EcoBoosts are fine engines for a while, but I've heard that turbo engines can be trouble over the long haul. And I tend to keep vehicles for a long time, so I want something that can last. I had a 2008 Tacoma for 11 years before I got my F-150.

      I agree bro. For my business I bought the same 3.3L V6 non turbo. It’s a 2016 no issue little maintenance besides oil change and Comercial heavy duty tires. I am liking for another truck possibly with bigger engine for more power and more payload. I think the V6 turbos are cool but for the long term I would think
      The 5.0L V8 would be cheaper to maintain even with the fuel savings. I love turbos and own a Mazdaspeed3 (turbo). At the time I debated a Civic SI and sometimes within went that route for the simplicity.

I just took a 409 Mile trip today about 95% freeway and I got around 29/30 mpg going around 70-78 MPH. And for my use I’ll be using for a work truck with a huge glass rack draped on it. • @EliminatorPerformance
      @EliminatorPerformance  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Chad, and no it doesn't burn oil.
      I'm planning on doing a video to cover this, the oil looks low on the dipstick but the engine doesn't actually burn it.
      The issue is that ford over filled these engines by 1 quart and the dipstick is too short.
      So when you check it, it looks like the oil is always at the add level on dipstick (bottom hole) what happens is that the extra oil is forced through the PCV valve, into the intake manifold and then gets burned. If you leave it and don't add oil, the oil stays at that lower mark.
      So what ford does is they install a longer dipstick (all 2019s after October and all 2020s have them now) and they fill the engine with 1qt less of oil.
      They also upgrade the PCV valve and do and update on the ECU/PCM (computer).

    • @curtis1951
      @curtis1951 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EliminatorPerformance
      I've seen other videos that people had the dip stick replaced and afterwards it's still burning oil. Word is that Ford's dipstick fix is a bandaid fix to get customers through the warranty period. Ford has replaced a lot of 5.0's because of bad pistons/cyl linings. I hope it works but don't be surprised if it still looses oil after they replace the dipstick. If that happens and the dealer won't address it, you may need to try another dealer or call Ford directly. Keep us posted.

    Excellent! If this truck only had the "Class IV Trailer Hitch" and "Standard 4x4" options would it have less front to back rake? Also Ford's builder page doesn't mention upgraded rear suspension components with either the "FX4 Off-Road Package" or "Trailer Tow Package" options. So what exactly is different or changed with either option that affects ride quality? Thanks

    • @EliminatorPerformance
      @EliminatorPerformance  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 2wd single cabs hardly have any rake, so the tow package definitely adds rear height (because they're trying to account for a heavy trailer tongue weighing the rear).
      Also, the 4x4 package adds the rear axle blocks which give it an additional 1⅛" of rear lift.
      As for the tow package, they add a leaf spring and upgrade the front sway bar, as well as install all the necessary electrical components for the tow assist and plug connection.
      The FX4 pack raises the front slightly from what I can tell, so the truck doesn't look as raked (a friend on Instagram has the exact same truck but with fx4).
      The FX4 also adds a larger differential ring gear, however, the downhill assist really wouldn't be of much use to me.
      If I could order this truck again, it would've been with the 302a upgrade so I could've had Nav built into my Sync³ touch screen. (I'm upgrading the APIM next year to install nav, it'll probably cost my $1500, but the 302a pack cost $2500 so I'm saving $1000 and not getting electric seats.
      I would've also got the FX4 pack, and the snowplow package (even though my other truck is equipped with the plow, you get an upgraded alternator for $150).
      That would come in handy if you wanted to run electrical tools off battery or at idle.

    • @dantimber
      @dantimber 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EliminatorPerformance So either 4x4 option is going to add rake? And the tow package adds even more rake? It sounds like the best factory option for minimal rake and best ride quality is to get it with 2wd and perhaps ONLY the "Class IV Trailer Hitch" (not the full blown "Trailer Tow Package")?

    • @EliminatorPerformance
      @EliminatorPerformance  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dantimber yes 100% they are basically level from the factory in 2wd with the trailer hitch.
      I installed the drop shackles and had the blocks removed since this video was uploaded, the truck basically sits level now, and there's absolutely no drive line vibration due to the correct shims installed.
      I will most likely do an update video in the spring once the weather is nicer!
      I'll also go over what I like and don't like about the truck now that I've had some time with it (there's not a lot I don't like).

      @@EliminatorPerformance
      Okay thanks for verifying and explaining that. I originally wanted 4x4 and was considering a regular cab with the standard 4x4 and standard Class IV trailer hitch and only removing the blocks. Now I'm thinking the FX4 package and the standard Class IV trailer hitch would be a better starting point as far as minimizing factory rake while still having 4x4. I'm not sure that only removing the blocks would be enough but would that alone require different shims?
      I'm very impressed with your detailed research and use of Ford parts. I wasn't aware Ford made a drop shackle package for this truck. The fact that shims are included and the work is done by Ford service is reassuring. There is so much misinformation regarding lift kits and the like. Changing the suspension for larger wheels and tires can be problematic.

    • @EliminatorPerformance
      @EliminatorPerformance  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dantimber yea the fx4 shocks raise the front like 1.5" I believe.
      As for the misinformation, when I asked my dealership to install the drop shackles and remove the blocks (using Ford Performance OEM parts) the service manager laughed and said "your truck will ride like a lumber wagon" then quoted me almost double what a local (private) Ford shop did.
      Overall, the truck handles better than stock, with the rear end lower it doesn't jump around as much. But I'll still upgrade to Bilstein shocks in the spring ($250 for both rear shocks).
      I paid Rick's Auto (a great local Ford shop) to install the drop kit, shackles and shims and they guaranteed the work, also said because it's OEM parts (Ford Performance) it's covered under warranty and doesn't void anything (dealership said it would).
      As for the Fx4 having a larger diff, this is what I was told by my friend, and like you said, isn't really mentioned anywhere, so take that with a grain of salt sort of thing.

    All along I thought the suspension was special on the 4x4s because it was higher up and tough looking. Turns out it's just blocks.

    • @EliminatorPerformance
      @EliminatorPerformance  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea it's nothing major, FX4 package gives you better shock absorbers, about it really. Tow package gives you the extra leaf spring which I still have, and all I've done is removed the block and just changed the position of the leaf with the drop shackle.

    What's the max payload?

    • @EliminatorPerformance
      @EliminatorPerformance  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Almost 2000lbs of cargo payload, towing capacity is almost 9000lbs
      Although now that I've installed the drop kit in the back, it does squat a bit with an 8000lbs trailer hooked up.
      The tow rating isn't technically affected, but it doesn't sit level when a full load is being hauled.
      For my day to day use of small engine repair though, the drop kit was perfect.

    • @EliminatorPerformance

      Tow rating is the same, also payload is the same because the stiffness of the suspension hasn't changed, only the height of it. (It may squat fully loaded instead of sitting level) but it can still haul the same weight!

      So I was thinking about your comment the other night, my response is quite simple.
      You say Millions of dollars in research and development into the suspension, yet Ford Performance designed, engineered and built the OEM drop kit that's covered under warranty lol
      While I understand where you're coming from, with that mentality, the entire aftermarket Automotive industry would be pointless.
